These are pretty nice lifts but honestly, why in the world would anyone decide they needed to disable pre doors on these lifts? I do quite like these lifts, you get a great view of the shopping district and it is cool how you can see into the motor room partially
They are very nice lifts indeed! Rumour is going around that someone may have tripped over the lift pre dooring as they were being impatient to exit without looking.
Michal M Ah right that must’ve been why they disabled it. That is one of the disadvantages with pre doors is it allows people to jump between the landing and the car while the lift is still in motion although fortunately most lifts tend to pre door a split second before the pre start so you’d have to do it on purpose to be able to trip over it as no one would have the chance to do it before the lift stops although quite a few old lifts like the one in my local House of Fraser (which is an old Keighley that has been partly modded but has the original controller) often opens the door as the lift starts to level making it far too easy to step out the lift before it comes to a stop, in fact you can even put your foot on the lift car while standing on the landing you’re on which isn’t that safe
Miconic B is such a weird controller. I really wish that these were modernised with Lester but then again. Miconic B is a rare controller so I can't complain
@@MichalM ? I am talking about both these and the 2 tucked away lifts. Also do you remember that Miconic B controllers still exist in Croydon and Uxbridge.
@@NCHLT Oh you mean they used to have those controllers? I don't know, do you know of any engineers who used to work on these? They would know what controllers these used to have.
@@NCHLT They would probably have installed the most advanced controller they could afford at the time of modernisation. Could literally be anything as there are a lot of controllers out there, I know TVC Ethos controllers are popular, so are Lester Controls.
As soon as I seen this video I knew that they lost there predoors, but at least there still nice and fast and still better than Bromley glades The glass lifts in Victoria Square Belfast used to have predoors as well but they lost them in 2012 but there ecodiscs
Yep, the Glades is on my list of places to visit, I like the Kone and the Zeta Modded Schindlers there. It's a shame these lifts lost their pre doors, I've contacted Intu Watford for further comment. Still very nice though, they're glass and still fast!
@@wolfdevil9771 Yep, and yep, I agree! Those Lester's are AWFUL! I think I filmed but they were so inefficient and uninteresting that I haven't even uploaded the video of them yet!
Whoops! Apologies for the spelling mistake at 0:30!
Great video Michal. I think he see through lifts are better as you can see all around you. They've got them at woking
Thanks! They are indeed. Woking has some quite rare Fujitec glass lifts, they're quite interesting.
Its Sad These Lifts Lost Their Pre Doors
It's a good job that the other lifts have them though!
7:54 Stentorgate be like
Just a small glitch in the programming I suspect.
Are they still running their original Shindler lift machinery?
It does not appear so.

@@blue.light.fazbear I see. Well there wasn't much of a problem here to be honest, they could have just set them up so they stop closer to the floor.

These lifts have been modernised. No working Schindler controllers remain unfortunately.

Oof who would turn off pre doors on an ecodisc?
Michal M well maybe it was having problems with predoor on
@@northernirishlifts What problems lol?
Michal M idk Lol
8:51 wtf
Whoever thought of getting rid of the pre-doors is a complete c**t. Sorry for the language, I'm just SO angry with that shopping centre!
Don't worry about it, there may be a reason.
On 23 July 2019 I went there on a very hot day
Oh nice! Did you get to see these lifts? It's air conditioned in there so not too much of a problem for lift filmers in the shopping centre! :)
I went there on 22 Dec 2021
I know lets make lifts less efficient, that will improve things!
Indeed!

these lifts aren't as good without pre doors, now you have to wait ages.
