Both of the Glass Elan lifts are now working.
The lifts that used to be in Debenhams now belong to Next Beauty and Home. The lifts have had the Basement floor locked off.

Unlike you i have a very mixed opinion on the elan lifts: I like that they're fast and stylish. However i hate that these elans replaced some old 80's-90's classic schindlers that used to be in this mall.

Crikey this is an old video of mine! Did I go into H&M?
I’ve only ever seen Elan Lifts twice. This video, and they did a button replacement on some Express lifts. I’ve never seen anything bad or shoddy about that company, but then again I don’t know if you can accurately judge since there are so few lifts which they work on. But I’d probably choose this company if I were looking for a generic modernisation.
It's interesting that you mention those glass lifts in Northampton, I'm 100% sure they've had a logic replacement. The indicator doesn't go out between floors at all. All the installations / mods I've seen are really really good. All of them are set up very well. I would definitely choose them.
@@MichalM I think that the logic is original. I’m pretty sure that the indicators do go blank between floors, but since there’s so few videos (and they are all poor quality) I can’t be sure about that. I want to go back there sometime and do the best video of them. When I went last time it was 2019 and it was far too busy to film them, especially since one was (and still is) broken. Hopefully I can go after the lockdown maybe and it will be less busy than last time I went.
I don’t know why one is off. It’s not worked for years. They seem to not be interested in modernising them. Every other set of lifts is modernised except the glass ones. Could it be because they’re aware that they are custom built and very rare?

@@MichalM Oh, I hadn’t seen that one. It’s a fairly new video. I still couldn’t see the indicator changing though unfortunately. I’m pretty sure they are male as well lol!

they didn't close the entire second floor just because of the toilets did they? or is there literally nothing else up there normally?
Second floor is another shop floor. That has toilets on it as well.
I think that's the only reason.
@@wolfdevil9771 odd that they closed a whole shop floor if the toilets were the only reason for doing so, i would have expected the toilets to close but the shop floor to remain in use

The last lift just went into nudge mode for no reason. 😂😂 cheap logic for you i suppose. Looks like the palace car park lifts still do pre doors.

I would wear gloves while touching the buttons
Now I did think about this, and during my visit to Slough, I bought a pen to use, however it just didn't feel right. I made sure I didn't touch my face after touching the buttons until I had used hand sanitiser.
I also don't particularly want to wear gloves as it makes me look weird.
Don't wear gloves, you're just taking the germs with you, just have hand sanitizer with you.
@@rahan573 Yep, or wash your hands regularly, which I was doing and have been doing since I started filming in my local shopping centre again.
@@MichalM Ah! I'm saying for outside use, hand sanitizer will do. No need to go to a horrid bathroom in a shopping centre just to wash your hands.
@@rahan573 You'd be surprised how clean the toilets in our shopping centre are! Everything is touch free also. Hand sanitiser is good for outside use yes.
The last lift is pure cheapness.

@@LondonAndSouthEastTransport It was a thing that I saw a few people saying a few years ago including Halfai but recently he said don't say that which I kind of get, it's not very nice.
