That first chrono test had me giggling. Straight out of the box. Top stuff.

350 FPS this is a great upgrade your OCD is greatly appreciated I wonder how the accuracy test will go, with the stress on the gel ball I’m sure will be flying out all over the place will definitely need a hop up to help with this power increase milky whites would be the choice of gel I wonder how gels will perform in a few more months of research and development

I did this same upgrade to my well m4 and the new spring was so powerful it cracked the receiver. Then I tried supergluing it together and super glues the tapper plate as well fml
Just a note to everyone who has the wells. You can put the bruisemaster barrel on. 9.5mm drill bit on the plastic barrel/t pice bit of time but "well" worth it. Also slight mod to the upper reciver.. Also 9.5 mill on the nylon tip to fit it through. Working on the 14mm barrel addaptor ring. Could have the wells fitting most of the gen 9 gear
It took me a year to finally grow on me, but I finally got myself one for Xmas as well as a metal gear set 😅 gonna make her a hitter
Ordered one the other day, not sure if I want to upgrade it, I already have a JM gen 8 M4, j10 ACR and M97 Shotgun I cannot be assed taking apart to fix. Seems to do just fine bog standard.

I think this has to be the #1 blaster out of the box at the moment.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I installed the exact same mod kit and the gearbox cracked. The kit is still superb but maybe consider using a slightly weaker spring. Now I gotta buy a Fightingbro gearbox and mess around with it.. More money to blow hahaha
There needs to be an AK with this type of stock performance, at least above 250fps. STD AK-47 v2 is almost there at 240 (sometimes)
The CP AK variants hit hard, while I don't own a chrono to test them with, the fact that they break the skin at over 10 metres away should give you an indication of their velocity. Just saw the new lineup of AK's on tac edge, jfc, full metal and wood for a cheap price of $600, if I wasted that much on a blaster I'd expect it to do 400fps and punch holes through a corrugated iron fence, like our slug guns used to do back in the early 90's.
Be aware that the back spring tappet is quite weak on the Wells M4, and upgrading springs has resulted in broken gearboxes. Some have fibreglassed the rear spring holders for additional strength.
yeah I noted that the spring retainer looked a bit weak.
it strips the wires as it pops out. I reverted to original 7.4v batt and find this may prevent it.
are you talking about the spring retainer? would this metal one solve the problem?

In regards to the polarity markings on the motor it’s worth checking before you refit the motor I stripped out the plastic gears on a well mrt because they were marked wrong and ran the motor in reverse
I am new to gel blasters and Your video helped me decide between Wells and JM J9. So I got the Wells and the upgrade kit. Could you please do a video on how to reinforce Wells so the upgrade doesn't break the gearbox? I've seen metal spring retainers but somehow I don't believe they would be much help because they are still held in a plastic shell. Most of the parts terminology used is Swahili to me LOL.

Hey Low Guido, I was just wondering what gear ratio you used in the installation, and also, I already have the upgraded spring for my wells, but what If I were to put just the full cylinder in, could that damage my blaster? (Reasoning for just the cylinder, is pricing wise because I saw a lot of comments saying that their kit that they ordered wasn't working (e.g 76aussieguy), and other retailers sell gears for around $50) Thanks.

I actually put a bigger spring into this one and got 364fps. I have also had a 350fps gen8 scar.
mate i put the same kit into mine(it arrived the day before you put this up) and the gear that drives the plunger dosent reach it(the plunger that is) havent counted the teeth of it or the stock one. could the plunger be a different size? cheers
@@76aussieguy i bought another kit the same and tried to put it into another wells, and the plunger is too small.. or should I say the gearbox is too big? A lot of people have contacted me with this same problem. It would seem that there is discrepancy between wells gearboxes. I must have got lucky with this one.. or unlucky with the next? One thing is fo sure the wells plunger is bigger diameter than gen8 and m9st 9f the plungers on the market are gen8 compatible. There is only 1mm in it. I have spoken to a few wells owners and there is no sure fire plunger replacement. It seems hit and miss.

Its a polycarbonate and its actually stronger when its clear something with pigment/dying process actually makes it weaker

Just got this blaster... is it normal to end up with a few gel balls in the mag well when you remove the mag? My blaster doesn't seem to fire a gel every time i pull the trigger - semi auto mode. Awesome mod vid by the way! Thinking i might give it a go.
it normal, it happens with my blaster too
Could be the air seal nozzle, the rubber seal may be sliding off the nozzle and blocking the bullets from feeding through. Happens a lot to mine

Replaced the cylinder to the same non ported and lost fps, i assume airleak around the cylinder head, any way to properly seal it better? Silicone?

I twisted the cylinder head so the part of the tappet forms a bit of a seal around the hole in the original cylinder that shortens it, a lazy free little trick that gives lots of extra fps, at no extra cost even with an otherwise stock M401.

Yes, you just twist the cylinder under until you can't see the port, I've done it with two different Wells blasters (one upgraded and one stock), I wish I had a chrono because the the upgraded one was already tested at over 300fps a few days ago, and now feels a lot punchier.
Nice timing. I had just started hunting for vids on the Well for my next project when the notification for this popped up. Apparently there are black nylon receiver kits available. Does the Well have an ally barrel stock? Also very interested in your next video about shimming (not so much the gears, but the motor height adjustment).
Hate disappoint you, but I'll be shimming a gen8. Albeit a bit less neccessary than the wells box. That thing NEEDS shimming. Gen8 can get away without it sometimes. As for the barrel on the wells i think its plastic? I didn't need to strip that part down so I didn't..

How long does the shipping usually take from gelballmod?
Just bought the WM4 ran 10,000 rounds through it sweet as pie. Put the 11.1V battery upgrade in and ran another 1000 rounds through. My issue with the 11.1V makes the spring hub bounce out out of its seat. Went back to the 7.4V and it still jumps out of its seat. Short of gluing it in there is there a less permanent way to keep it in place? Really happy with this product in all other regards.
Upgrade it to a metal one. Or run a bolt through the back of the gearbox through the receiver.

After buying this upgrade I noticed that the spring is too large and when compressed into the receiver it bows. I was looking at your video and it appears to have the same problem I encountered. Is this an issue when firing the gun as the plunger needs to move up and down around the spring?
It didn't seem to cause any issues and straightened out with a little bit of a play around.
Is there a reason that the body of the M4 is transparent ?

You may to set the motor hight with the screw in the bottom of the pistol grip. Also make sure your motor shim didnt fall out.

@@lowguidoschopshop haha awesome thank you. one more thing, I am having an issue with my blaster where the trigger mechanism isn't engaging with the switch and when i opened it up it was fine but when putting it back together after just a few rounds the trigger becomes unresponsive.
@@Henry-yf1nw just make sure the trolly sits on the top of the trigger correctly and lines up in the rails.

Hahaha colour doesn't really matter. I have a bag of good green ones. You can also get good ones in other colours as long as they sre a good quality seal they're fine.

Just curious if you'll be doing a, distance and accuracy test for this blaster? I'm looking at buying my first blaster and can not decide between the wells or JM gen8 m4a1 I really want something that is accurate and and shoot the distance, I don't mind having to grade to get there just not sure which blaster to start with.

Yeah you can. But then you have to take it off again to put it back in.
Would it be possible for you to do a fps chrono with original spring with those mods to get a full proper idea of mods and cylinder without vents pls?

I have been told there are slight deifferences, but what they are I do know exactly. What would be cool one day is an online Gel Blaster 'magazine' like we have with some car magazines, reveiws, comparisons, longer term durability test, venues, retail outlets, laws and regs etc.
Just got my well m401 in the mail today, gutted to find out it’s one without mag prime. Have you set up the forward assist as a mag prime before?
well m4 has a mag prime, on the select fire, youll hear/feel a click just before you move it to semi. pull and hold the trigger in that position to prime the mag

I bought this blaster and did the full upgrade and im still only shooting 280-290 fps, any tips on what i might have missed?
Double check all your air seals.
Is there any secret to loosening the screws on the gearbox? Only a couple of them come out easily and the other screws start to strip the harder I turn the screw driver.
the secret is to use the correct size screwdriver on the screws. there are a mix of number 1 and number 2 Phillips head. dont use a number 0, or a pozidriv screw driver on any. its also tricky because the number 1 Phillips drivers are often too thick in the shaft, so the tendency is to want to use a 0 which will strip the heads.

I did nothing other than install the kit.
Why didn't you change the cylinder head? Just bought the well v2 I'm guessing it's pretty much exactly the same except for the the engine
I only used what came in the kit.

Dont cut it. If you do you will lose most of your upgraded power. Just push it all in there

But could u help me out here - Ive been trying to figure out what the Wells Tappet plate elbow is for ? - that dog leg looking thing - just under the cylinder head inside the mag well.
Coz to me it just seems to do nothing besides weaken the case ? ( & stop other brand mags being used ? ) & any Suggestions on how to fix the case hole if I removed the elbow part & also any ideas on fixing the spring retainer hole ?

it took me a while to work this out myself. But I can finally confirm.... It does nothing.
No really, it doesn't do anything. it is there as a legacy, because the earlier versions of the well or nWell blasters has a mechanical mag feeding mechanism that would push a lever on the mag to mechanically feed the next ball up into the chamber. I suppose this means that you can still use the older well mags in this version blaster. but if you have the correct mags it serves no purpose.

Your work & detail is great & helps a lot of Us - & there is a lot of differences between AS and our GBB , just been rewatching your vids to help finish off the Wells build.
I ended up cutting the tappet elbow & still deciding on fiberglass or something to fix the hole left & cracking issues besides cutting / rounding the corners in the shell & was just about to start wiring up the mosfet - but so glad I watched ur vid on it again because I was literally just about to commit to solder both black wires to trigger terminals 😮 but after your vid & explanation I didn’t make that mistake so 👏👏👍 thanks again mate - awesome work! - U really the only out here doing this !!

As far as gel goes. Pretty accurate.
Just put this kit in my gun but it won't run the new spring because it keeps derailing my plunger!! Do you know of any fixes for this Guido?
make sure that the plunger is seated well in the rails and the gearbox is tightened together well, other than that I cant think of any reason why that would happen..

I installed this mod, for some reason it keeps failing to pick up the ladder gear. I just emailed gelbal mod today to see if they have any advice, thought I would ask you as well.
I didn't have this problem with the fist one that I did in the video. then people told me that they did have a problem. I ordered another kit and installed it on another wells and the plunger was too narrow @~21mm it kept popping out. I ordered 2 more different plungers and of the 2 I ordered one of them was ~22mm and there were no problems. it seems to be a manufactuing tolerance issue with that plunger, some fit some don't..

To the God of Gel Warfare Guido - Mate Ive had my Well's now for 3 days and am really blown away by the build quality etc, I am getting around the same FPS stock.
I was wondering if you could tell me if I did just a simple spring upgrade and keep using a 7.4v LiPo what sort of FPS could I expect.?
I am more of a precise target shooter than a Sprayer ( Im 51yrs old btw ) and enjoy things like trying to knock a bottle cap off the back fence @21m with just single shot or very short bursts at most.
As you more than likely understand the physics behind aerodynamics, I find that it is Not as it appears that the Well's is not accurate but to try and keep a squishy projectile on coarse is virtually impossible at these distances. without the aid of a spinner or a "Hopup" as I believe you guys call them. So I have gone ahead and ordered one from Zhenduo on eBay to suit the Wells.
In your experience, will this improve single shot accuracy after screwing around a bit trying to find the sweetspot of the Hopup? and as mentioned a spring upgrade to perhaps get me to 300fps?.... Is this a good idea and if so what gauge/length/count spring do I need seek to achieve this?

Gel as a general rule is just not accurate. The best thing you can do with the wells is put a hop up on it and use milkies. the stock fps is quite adequate.

To me its a massive improvement and the exact same upgrade has been applied to mine. Using Milky's Chrono @ 370 - 380fps.
