The robot mode from that figure is based on a concept art of an SV-001 having a humanoid form for the first game, but then was recycled for the Slug Gunner from Metal Slug 5
Reminds me of when Sweet Tooth was able to transform into a Robot in one Twisted Metal game. (When I say "Sweet Tooth", I mean the actual car the Clown drives. It's a common misconception that the Clown is named "Sweet Tooth", ((Though, you could technically call him that.)), when his actual name is Needles.)
I think that is the best handling of tank tracks I've ever seen on a transforming robot. It always bothers me and reinforces the sense that the tracks are fake when the tracks that split in the center, and then are awkwardly positioned in an impossibly unrealistic way on the robot.
At 11:28, that is a reference to the old artworks and concept art for the first Metal Slug. Unless Jobby knew about it, the original game was supposed to have transforming SV-001s, which looks like that. However, that idea was scrapped and instead was turned into SVW-001, The Walker Type S. Gunner from Metal Slug 5.
11:04 with the cannons out, it looks VERY dope. Thanks for confirming that it still works, the light up also still works, AND that it looks hella awesome!
Have you noticed how to scale Figma Madoka accidentally is? You'd expect her to somersault into the top of it and the Metal Slug to obediently spring to life like an excited dog.
I honestly didn't expect another one of my drawings being featured! Thank you for that Jobby, I feel really honored! ✨ The tank and robot are freaking amazing, a great tribute to a great videogame! 💚
I was not expecting this figure to be this good, it has great poseability, its transformation is complex but genius, and the fact that it is an original design means that you don’t really have to worry about source material (at least in robot form).
On the back of the robot mode, I'd recommend rotating the smokestacks out, which gives you more space to use the double hinge on the butt-flap to clean the backside up a bit!
The reason it exists is a piece of artwork from game's the concept art, it's impressive they didnt make one years ago. That goes for the entirety of the Metal Slug vehicle inventory. They at least released some basic model kits recently.
Another great review! This transformer isn't based on anything from the game from my knowledge, though I never played any of the games out of the main run and guns. There is a vehicle similar in Metal Slug 5 called the Slug Gunner. The Slug Gunner was a bulkier bipedal mech with a gatling arm and a pile-driver arm for melee. It had a cannon in the "chest" with no head, just the camera( looked very similar to when Jobby had the mech's torso reconverted to tank mode). In all, the Gunner was like a slower but "tankier" player- it could jump, turn around, fired the gatling forward or straight up, and would melee enemies when they were close enough. It did transform to a treaded mode when you ducked! Tank mode was a lot faster, but at the gatling and cannon would be fixed aiming in one direction.
I, FREAKING, WANT, THIS….. Metal Slug is a blast and a half, and to not only make this incredible figure, BUT MAKING IT A TRANSFORMER!?!?!? HEEEEEEEEEEEELL TO THE FREAKING YES!!!!
Oh hell YEAH! I grew up with this game as a franchise (same goes to its fellow gun-n-run from NES "Contra"), and I shocked about this cool transformable toy based on its 1st concept. Mind-blowing 🤯
Oh man metal slug was one of my favorite childhood games there was something so satisfying about the explosions and the sprite work even though I sucked at it and just went at everything guns blazing until I won it’s just one of those timeless games with sprites that still hold up very well today
Got mine last week. Surprisingly very very good! Very poseable. solid ratchet joints. feels heavy. and yes! LED on both cannon and head-no switch love it. Retail price also reasonable. Instant fav. Now, Cang Dao don't stop here, they should make Harrier Jet too.
I never thought what was once concept art of a metal slug transformer was just that, until this came in blasting my expectations in the best way possible.
imagine if SNK decide to make another actual metalslug with OG pixel art style with this guy in it. Can't tell how many time I've played this series on my old playstation 2. Truly amazing
Surprising yet amazing to see one of the joke concept art of Metal Slug became a reality. Would be so happy if they could make Black Hound version of it from MS5
I just got mine yesterday and it’s an amazing figure! As for the ankle tilt, the ankles are actually on a slider. It’s pretty tight, and doesn’t extend the feet that much, but it makes a big difference to the overall ankle articulation.
I don't know if it's because you're having such a fun time with this figure or that the figure itself looks great, but I really enjoy this review. I've enjoyed every review on the channel, but this one really resonated for some reason. If only I wasn't broke and could buy the figure because it does look incredible.
I am so glad you covered this figure, I'm a major Metal Slug fan but never really had the wish to buy merchandise of the game as it never brought my attention, but when I saw this figure get mention by you I was hoping you would talk more about it, and here we are with this amazing review, thanks Jobby
This toy reminds me of a concept I came up with a long time ago. It was where gamers could go into the game world and could use armors that give them the powers of specific game characters. For example: Galaga armor gives you a robo space suit with guns and thrusters, and the ability to turn into a space ship, for flying at high speeds through space!
9:12 He Literally has the new Perk (Kinda wish metal slug have it) 2 Heavy Machine Guns Edit: If you keep the turret on his chest, It kinda reference to Warpath where his tank cannon is on his chest, and the headscope/Face resemblance to Shockwave
There are reports on showzstore of the antennae being broken. They are incredibly fragile. In addition, early releases have the crotch plate mis-assembled upside down. As long as you don't receive a figure with these problems right out of the box it is a fantastic piece.
This is definitely worth the money I love this figure One of the best 3rd party figures in my opinion The durable paint, and just the feel of the figure is amazing when compared to its price
I usually dont go out of my way to buy transformers and or transforming toys anymore, dont really have to much space to put them, plus I have a destructive daughter. But my god, this thing is absolutely beautiful, and I havent even ever played a metal slug game, it just looks so clean and tight in its presentation.
one thing i really appreciate about your transformations jobby is you don't excessively pad your run time with doing each limb seperately if they're the same as the one you showed. that tiny ding is a ding of quality to me. (youtube has been recommending other transformers reviewers to me and most of them have annoying voices or excesively pad their time with the full transformation including both legs both arms both butts etc etc. so thank you for the ding
Is my only complaint that the robot mode doesn't look as cute and chunky as normal Metal Slug robots? Yes. Did I buy this figure immediately after learning the vehicle mode was awesome? Also yes.
AWESOME! I've always loved the Metal Slug tank design. I didn't think I'd care for it's apparent robot transformation but... then I saw the detail in articulation I was blown away, This transformational Metal Slug need to exist in something else than a toy. =D

So glad your the first comment, I hate it when people say 1st
Thanks for the awesome shirts
God, I love mash ups like this. It's even better when both sides are equally and lovingly represented.
Two great flavors that taste even better together!
shut up
Just thinking about the Hiss Tank Megatron
Makes me wish I had gotten 2.
This toy even looks better than some of Hasbro’s official mash-ups.
The robot mode from that figure is based on a concept art of an SV-001 having a humanoid form for the first game, but then was recycled for the Slug Gunner from Metal Slug 5
thats awesome
Yeah, I remember those concept arts.
altho, in the end, they went full circle, and the actual slug gunner looks like a headless warpath
@@serPomiz interesting, headless or not, it a fantastic robot mode

I love how compact the metal slug form is

Honestly it looks just like the Bonaparte from Tank Police, idk which property came first though
@@agooddaytorespawn57 I think both of those probably derive from an earlier source. chibi squat tanks have just been a thing forever.
5:44 is a perfect cut scream
This honestly seems like something that would appear in a metal slug game. Just love the originality of it and how it does come with dual miniguns.
I believe there was a mech like vehicle in one of the other metal slug games that kinda looks similar to this figure.
I honestly didn't expect another one of my drawings being featured! Thank you for that Jobby, I feel really honored! ✨ The tank and robot are freaking amazing, a great tribute to a great videogame! 💚
2:01 Props to anyone who can name A-Z all the Metal-Slug weapons at the timestamp!
The way the treads fold up into the legs to make a perfect silhouette dude that's perfect.
I was not expecting this figure to be this good, it has great poseability, its transformation is complex but genius, and the fact that it is an original design means that you don’t really have to worry about source material (at least in robot form).
The edited in explosion at 2:12 caught me off guard holy shit. Always a good time watching your reviews man 😆
Metal slug and transformers is definitely a match made in heaven.
the bliss of the week is when this guy uploads
I like your subscriptions

That metal slug transformer design looks awesome and one of the best crossover toy
Jobby really went ham with the Metal Slug edits with this one and I don’t blame him cus this figure slaps, might grab one👌
The transformation is surprisingly clean. That thread folding into the thigh was nice
This is the most satisfying, clean, and slick transformation I have ever seen.........Beautiful
Man, I love Jobby's videos. It's such good entertainment. Controlled chaos well put together. Love it.
Bought it 5 minutes after finishing the review. Jobby's a really good seller
This thing looks absolutely amazing and I would honestly love to see it done as Warpath, this would make an awesome crossover!
someone needs to make a spritesheet showing the Metal Slug transforming, walking, and shooting. that would be a sick mod
OMG those shoulders, the mono eye. Just like a Zaku
This is one of the most charming transforming figures he’s ever reviewed

I was hoping that the mini guns on the back could be used in the robot mode
Was quite happy seeing that they can.
LOVE IT when a toy is dense with high quality material and functionality. The engineering involved to make such beauty must’ve been challenging.
4:51 amazing name too
Amazing a booby trap that actually catches boobies
Keep pumping out the good stuff, Jobs! And while you're doing that, keep making more reviews!

The animated Blitzwing has a tank mode that is so small and chunky that it is literally screaming that it’s a metal slug reference

This looks like a damn good figure tbh, especially for the price! One of the more positively focused jobby reviews recently
That Shockwave impression was actually magnificent.
3:10
yes. be careful with that antenna. I saw one guy at the local hobby shop got his copy with broken antenna.
Well if that happens, a little bit of paint and mod work and one could go with a battle-damaged look
It looks awesome in both modes, but I was surprised when the robot mode didn’t feature the main cannon on the chest.
I never thought what was once concept art of a metal slug transformer was just that, until this came in blasting my expectations in the best way possible.
this is a nice mash up. i never known they made this but the details are cool. i love it.
Glad to see you're feeling better and thank you for being you!

6:10 oh well atleast he apologized!
The mono eye combined with the shoulder pads make me think it was inspired by the Zaku.
This is definitely worth the money
I love this figure
One of the best 3rd party figures in my opinion
The durable paint, and just the feel of the figure is amazing when compared to its price
I’m also super happy with mine. But I will probably use your transformation as a guide next time. I had issues with the spotty instructions.
8:54 I'm heavy weapons Shockwave and this is illogical
I can easily say by design alone this is one of the best looking toys I've ever seen
8:49 now it looks like a Zaku
i still have the Metal slug game
it feels so good to play again
8:32 Filthy franku 🥺
Metal Slug has got to have a good personality with that barrel
You are right about the fragile antenna. The right one was broken off before I opened the box.
Metal Slug honestly could pass as a form of Cybertronian tank. It's fricking awesome and now I want it
Im glad the review didnt dissapoint with using Metal Slug sound effects/lines and music
That final frame had me wondering if this was inspired by that concept art but I guess so which is awesome.
Now if only we get a red repaint...
As a POW would say, Thank you!
For this nostalgic game since my childhood. 😁😁😁
of course you managed to add some ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY keyframes to make this video almost being marked PG18. Never change, Jobby
8:35 gundam ghost laughing is the most adorable thing in this channel
I think those loose treads in the robot mode are suposed be like ammo feeders for the miniguns. Extra hinges allowing them to move with the arms.
A fantastic figure to be sure. Side note for Gundam Ghost actually popping up when you didn't even say "Gundam" just had me dying. XD
That robot and the idea of transformation was on the concept arts of the game and i love it!!!

Beautiful. Metal Slug, a good figure, and jobby said the thing. And it's not even Christmas yet
Metal Slug and Transformers, two of my favorite things. *NICE* .
I don't know who designed this figure, but PLEASE give us more, the engineering is *_elegant as shit_*

A lovely transformer that compacts nicely
Is my only complaint that the robot mode doesn't look as cute and chunky as normal Metal Slug robots?
Yes.

Also yes.

Thanks, Job-man!
It is rare for Jobby to give a 5/5 perfect score. Damn boi!
11:10 Didn't know Jobby knows Thai. That's a pretty cool pun though.
I feel like the metal slugs robot form looks like he’s about to spout to shockwave the whole “back in my day” thing
I don't even collect nor buy any transformer figures, but moments like these really makes me consider buying one.
