Bart, thanks for this video! In April I bought this model lathe and have used it almost every day since! It was partially due to your video that I got this model and many others that I even got into wood turning. So thank you very much!
I'm glad you posted this. I have one on the way and should be getting delivery soon. Cant wait to start turning! Your video gave me a nice preview of what to expect thanks.
Thanks for the video, I also have been searching for one on this model but couldn't find one but took a leap of faith and ordered it anyways. Beyond exited for it to arrive in a week. Thank you for the video. I feel a lot better about my purchase now.
I’ve been looking at the same one and you’re right I couldn’t find a video on it. I thought about the harbor freight lathe which is cheaper, but the wen has 3/4 hp instead of 1/2 hp motor like the harbor freight one does. Good video, thanks
It's been close to 9 months so how do you like your WEN lathe now. I watched another WEN video and he sent his back and picked up the JET lathe cause he wasn't happy with the WEN for the work that he did.
I love it, I have had no issues it works well. The only thing I had trouble with was the cast iron tool rest, i got a nasty catch and snapped it off. I got a steel one to replace it and its been great.
@@bartswoodshop7212 Thanks. I'm shopping for a quality pen lathe. My requirements are simple I need enough power' and enough distance between head and stock to drill out the blanks
I love it my only regret was not getting the variable speed option, but i was on a budget and the 5 speed isn't bad, just takes a minuet to move the belt on the spindle . The one other thing is the tool rest is cast iron, and gets little dings in it pretty easily. You may want to upgrade to a steel one they are not expensive like $20 or $30
@@youngtimer964 I tried everything. Nothing was wrong with the plug or breaker. I packaged it back up & had no problem getting a full refund. I put a couple hundred bucks with the refund & bought the "Nova Comet 2" Plugged it in the same place & it works great!

I am glad you like the video, I am still having fun with it every chance I get. It’s a great tool
I just got one for Christmas and can't wait to use it. And I'm a beginner too.
Good luck! it is a lot of fun
Thanks for the video. I just got mine and haven’t had a chance to use it and it’s been very helpful watching your video to know what to expect.
'Man glitter' love it. Thanks for the review.

1/2 horse is plenty
Grease? You mean “Man Hand Cream”?
Thanks for the video! I like the Viking horns!
If I cleaned my shop I wouldn't be able to find anything. A messy shop is a happy shop.
Bart, the "Woosie" Watch out fer dat "Barr-Greeze"!!!
Please excuse my ignorance, but is the 18”, the distance between centres? If so, that’s a nice lathe. Doesn’t look too bulky or too heavy, yet sturdy.
Yes 18” between center, it is very sturdy I enjoy working on it.
I'm thinking about buying one of these. I've never used a lathe before either but I wanna learn.
It has been great, I have learned so much just from watching videos and trying different techniques.
Bert that not the chuck that the spindal
I have one on order just waiting for it to be delivered
Very nice video. I also like making sawdust. But technically, what you have here is "Lathe dust" :)

Now that it's been a while, how are you liking the WEN lathe? Is it holding up over time? Considering buying one. Thanks.
Same question

does the motor overheat on this lathe?
I have never had a problem with that
Question for anyone...should I buy this one or the similar one at harbor freight...I’m a beginner!
I liked the WEN better mainly because their customer service is very good.
Get the wen because it is a little better built
Just got this same lathe today. Fresh out of the box an will not start. Nothing when you hit the power button!
Power supply? Tripped breaker?

I am sorry it didn't work for you must have been a lemon, mine is still running like a champ. I heard the Nova is a great lathe too.
Can you turn a 8 ×4 bowl
Yes it is a 12” lathe but realistically it can do like 11” maybe 11.5” pushing it
Face shield, please?
Good video ...
Big like!👍👍👍👍👍✅💪Felicitări! Great video 👍
Him don,t want to get dirty!
Your "intro" is pointless and annoying. Just sayin.
agreed the new videos have a new less annoying intro, thanks for the creative criticism
Great video!!!!!!
