    I think I would go nuts keeping track of all the screws, springs and pins. Guess that is why we have guys like you to modify our Bulldogs. I have always been great at taking things apart. Putting them back together......

      bluewater454 I understand that completely. After you've done it a dozen times it's no big deal.
      I hint for the beginner tinkerer is lots of pictures. Sometimes the mind can't remember all of the small parts but having a picture to reference it makes a big difference when putting it all back together.

    Great teardown video, could please identify each tool size used to remove screws! You did in the beginning then You started adding additional tools that were unaccounted for regarding size I.e that big daddy Allen wrench set. Also I purchased a Mega moderator and the barrel spacers will you do a video on proper install and recommended spacing?

    Stupid question. Just put my first mag in the bulldog... pulled the cocking lever back and kept pressure on trigger essentially "decocking" it with a full mag in...now what?? Can the pellet be fired?? Or if I cock it again to fire will it double load?

    • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you cock it again it will double load. Best option is to open bolt and remove mag then close bolt and fire.
      Other option is to hold the rotating section of the mag while you cock it and keep it from rotating. Then close the bolt on that open cylinder.

    Matt I’m curious as if there is a much lighter popit spring? I agree there should be one in place to help close the popit for the purpose of getting air into the rifle but if it has a fairly heavy spring it will assist in closing quicker when a shot has been fired

    Any changes to this procedure on the newer Bulldogs? I bought mine about a month ago and just got in some of your barrel supports. I'll probably put a little chamfer on the barrel transfer port while I'm in there, but not looking for big power increases yet. Bought the o rings for inside the breach end too, may or may not put them in right now. Eventually I'll probably put on the extended air tube and maybe the regulator, still thinking about those options.

    Do you turn the hammer spring counter clockwise, or clockwise on the Bulldog for more power?

    • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      turning clockwise will screw the adjuster in for more tension on the spring and normally gives more power. turning counter clockwise will decrease spring tension and normally gives less power.

    Hello, I have one or possibly two pellets jammed in my bulldog. The magazine is also stuck. I tried to tap it out with the plastic cleaner rod but, no luck. If not for the magazine being stuck, it would probably be easy to tap it out. I thought about carefully hacksawing the magazine in half, being careful not to saw anything but the magazine, and then prying the mag out? Any suggestions are appreciated.

    You’re awesome dude thank you for the informative video. I’ve noticed my bulldog is losing air from 3000 PSI down to about 2200 psi in the amount of time of about a week without completely tearing it down what do you think would be the most common cause for the leak and an easy fix I tore down to get the barrel off and get out a jammed round But I didn’t feel comfortable taking apart the entire trigger assembly. I only took out the two Allen keys that lock in the barrel so I could get it out with a steel rod

I could here air coming out the front end area. I tried to get Amazon return for a replacement and found out that it was 7 days to late!! • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure that the gun is cocked before you try to fill it. With no air in the tank and not cocked the hammer pushes against the valve and let's it leak down the barrel.

    I've been thinking about drilling my transfer ports. But I'm hesitant to do it myself. Do you offer a service? If so, can I mail you my reciever? Does my barrel have to go with it? Would max fpe be about 275, if kept unregulated?

    • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes i can do it for you and yes i would have to have the barrel so that i can open up the port in the barrel to match.
      Every gun seems to be a little different but with the right ammo i don't think hitting 275 FPE would be to hard at all. If you wanted to really work on the valve you should be able to hit 300FPE. Or if you really want to get crazy then move over to Helium and you will have a 500 FPE gun.

    Can that adjuster plug that you pointed be used to make some small power then changes to the gun? Or is it just for how easy or hard it is to cock the gun?

    • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it changes the pressure on the hammer spring. So the tougher it is, the harder the hammer will hit the valve and the longer it will stay open.

Also got a quick question> Is it nessasary to degass the bulldog before cleaning the barrel OR could i just make sure guns not loaded, bolt open, and on safe to clean it with a rod and bore tip???......

  • @pumpkinseedpeanuts8902
    @pumpkinseedpeanuts8902 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So Bulldog does not have any o rings around transfer port and just a tube is all?? Might removing the transfer port potentially leak the rifle?? if not, could you drill mine, too? thanks.

    • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct, the bulldog has no O-ring around the port. But removing the tube is not going to make any difference as the port did not affect the sealing either, it just floats around in there. Its just the pressure of the setscrew pushing the two machined surfaces together that creates a "seal" There is no seal around the pin on the valve either so that is also a potential leak.
      But we are working with such tight tolerances that i have not noticed any air loss in those areas.

    • @pitbull_airguns
      @pitbull_airguns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      FPS is the wrong way to look at it. We normally rate the guns at FPE or Foot Pounds of Energy. The guns are rated at 200 FPE from the factory but are actually in the 175 FPE range. We can get to 300FPE very easily and have built guns that have gone over 600FPE.

      @@adamdobie455 this video actually saved me, the little poll the trigger is attached to, when he's reinstalling it he compresses the spring and I saw there was more thread visible than I have. Basically the trigger wobbled around while I put in the depinger and the poll was too short to hold the trigger closed. I just twisted it like 3 times and the trigger is close enough to the safety to hold shut. Kinda nuts that a literal millimeter is in the way of the gun firing when cooked.

      I think you are talking about the transfer port. You would have to remove the tube and then drill out the barrel and valve and you would get more power because it lets more air go through.

    Question for you : Here in France, there is a person who claims that for around 500 euros he can get the Bulldog shooting in the neighbourhood of 515 Joules (380 ft/pd) with an 82 grain bullit traveling at over 1100 ft/sec. What he doing sounds very similar to what you are doing. Does his claim seem reasonable? I'm looking for serious answers, folks. Cheers.

    • @pitbull_airguns

      Hitting that power level is possible but not easy to do. And i would say impossible with an 82 grain pellet.
      You would have to single load some very heavy slugs to hit that level of energy.
      So i would say his claims are false unless he had a typo and meant 282gr .
