- Welcome to Zeepkist! Today my friends and I all built soapbox race courses around the theme "Full Circle". My interpretation was to build a series of gradually smaller circular wall rides that increase your speed as you go through them. The goal is to pick up enough speed to be able to make it through the final checkpoint to the boosters.

Why are you always first…
Do you make them play tracks you make? Have they asked you to join them in voice?
I'd love to see recordings of your runs. You get the top time so often; seeing the exact lines you take would be really fun. Even if you just send it to the track maker so they can add to their video would be nice.
I think you weren't here when Warcans gave the advice, but going low many times is faster because you're deeper in the gravity well, and since those are gravity powered cars it kind of matters.
I think I heard someone mentioned it to him once, so he knows. He probably just forgot. You'd think he'd notice all the other cars hugging the bottom of the track, though.

@@Yu-gb1wv because the lower you go, the more potential gravitatonal energy you´ve traded for kinectic energy. Doing it earlier raises your average speed, which is the most important thing on a track, and since there´s no drag up to 200 speed, you should definitely abuse that mechanic
I have been loving your tracks. They have consistently been my favorites. So glad you joined these challenges. This one is so clean. Obviously influenced by all your time in SM. Your videos are actually how I found ZK - through Kan. And… now I own both games.

Yeah, physics note: you don't actually gain speed because the circles are getting smaller. The only point where you gain speed is when you drop lower in the gravity well. That's how warcans gets the times he does.
On this track you really want to stay on the absolute bottom of each ring and get there as soon as possible after each transition. If you're not almost falling off the bottom edge of each loop, you're doing it wrong.
Which is also a tip for any racing game with loops and this kind of stuff
@@tuluppampam Kind of, yeah, but with Zeepkist you don't have any aerodynamic forces but you *do* have slow down from turning which is the opposite of how most other racing games work.
Zeepkist has this weird thing where you want to take the absolute widest turn line you possibly can to avoid losing speed. In real life and in most other games, you just want to take the widest line you can *without sliding*. So in Zeepkist, even if you're going 40 and you could take a corner at 200, you still want to take the widest line through that corner, whereas in something like TrackMania, youd want to turn as sharply at the apex of the curve as you could without having to brake and without sliding.
I haven't figured out yet whether turning by hitting a wall in Zeepkist is worse than regular turning as far as slowing down goes, but it seems to be. It seems like it slows you down by the same amount as if you'd been able to turn with the wheels just as sharply, but I don't know.
Short story is: Zeepkist ends up with some pretty weird optimal lines compared to most other games.
Maybe Scrapman has been playing it this whole time, just not for content, but I really like how he's learned to make technical tracks quickly.
Zeep you want to have a slight angel downwards you gain speed while in circle from top to bottom, without any movement/sterring for tansistions
@@SixonQQ Nah. Watch the video again. The only time your speed goes up is when you go down. Turning does lose you speed but not enough to make up for the speed you gain for being as low as possible. You want to get to the bottom of the next ring as soon as possible.
I wouldnt be surprised if the fastest line is to actually stay so low on the rings that you would hit the checkpoint walls and that you have to steer up and back down just to make the checkpoints. That's how important being lower down in the gravity well is.
If you want someone other than just me telling you that, warcans actually does have a channel. Its all older, non-multiplayer stuff, but you can see how in every single track he steers hard to get as low in the gravity well as possible.
Also, looking at his stuff, apparently slamming into the wall loses you a lot less speed than braking but more than steering as hard as possible, so there's that answered too I guess.
@@htomerif regarding the gravity well it is always optimal to stay low, even more so when you will eventually have to go down, because you want to get the maximum speed as soon as possible to reduce the time
If a gravity well isn't affecting things in a course that way, I don't know how the game handles all the other speed losses
Minor nit. You aren't gaining speed due to conservation of angular momentum. You're gaining speed because you're exchanging your gravitational potential energy for kinetic energy. Conservation of angular momentum applies to torques. You would need to be tethered to the center of the circles. Rather, the torque is applied to your vehicle itself as it rotates via friction with the track. This means the faster you go, the faster your *car* rotates around its own center of mass. This is why race cars do not pick up more speed the tighter the corner.
Definitely fun watching players get filtered out with each successive circle.
Thing that makes you building up speed isn't decreasing circle diameter, but decreasing altitude.
I love the creative use of physics and I'm glad to see the game actually allows it
Can you explain me the physics behind it? I can't comprehend why a smaller circle makes it go fester at all. Is that real life physics and like how....?
@@kazumsvirtuelleeinode4067 it kinda doesnt. What theyre referring to I think is conservation of angular momentum, which increases the *angular* velocity as circles get smaller (which you do see here too, even if the speed were to be exactly the same, it takes less time to go around a smaller circle than a bigger circle). However, the speed of the car itself would remain the same, and the increase in speed throughout the spiral is exclusively because of going downwards, and converting potential energy to kinetic energy. Both of these work together to make the track harder, but theres nothing special about the effects themselves
@@tcmax7837 so they are either accelerating due to gravity and it just coincides somewhat with them switching circles or the physics is a bit weird and they increase speed due to smaller circles, but that would not happen IRL?
@@kazumsvirtuelleeinode4067 definitely looks to me like theyre only accelerating from going down in the game too, from looking at the speedometer. Because of the increase in angular velocity, the smaller circles do feel even faster than the speed would lead you to think though

The last part of the SciFi Tunnels Escape is out on the workshop. Came out on the 7th, I was just scrolling through the workshop and saw it.
For a sec I thought this is more fitting to Dapper's track as marble games is his favorite.

Love the track. However, you gain speed bc you are lower in the gravity well. The smaller diameter gives you faster angular speed, not faster translational speed (complete circles faster, covers same distance)

How does your speed increase? Of course your angular velocity will increase, but your tangential velocity should remain constant. Did you add boosters?
