A bit of a sad video guys but I really wanted to update you all on what’s been going on with zeb and what happened, that he had to have surgery and his recovery.
Everything is now ok and we are going in the right direction which is great news! Thank you very much all of you for your support we really do appreciate it and I’m so glad zeb will be back up and running soon ♥️

I love the way Zeb doesn't want you to pet him, but he "pets" you all the time. Best outro ever but I am sorry to say, Zeb is a little bit right, you did go rather on & on. Let Zeb do it next time---or maybe Kato, he seems to crave the spotlight. Such a sweet bunch of boys.

My mare broke her shoulder this time last year. Took out bone fragments from it. Thank god she is alright now and back to work like she hadnt had most of last year off!

Ashley I am so sorry you and Zeb has to go through all this, as you say, part of owning horses unfortunately. With that said, thank you for sharing what you have of Zeb's surgery and recovery, what a trouper you and he are, fantastic that you have been able to get back on him in such a short space of time. Loved the Zeb comments, and the outro, made me giggle, though not funny for Zeb, naughty Kato. Hope everything continues to progress nicely forward now for you and Zeb. Kudos to your vet team, for what they did, and allowing you to film, some would not agree to that.

I just got my first real taste of the crazy random disasters that can befall horses seemingly of nowhere, my first real heartbreak with horses (I have only been riding for 4 years this summer)- my first ever lease pony just passed away very suddenly out of nowhere last Tuesday. 💔
It has been so gutting, all the plans and progress, it just slammed to a halt, I don't know what to do now, it's hard!
I know I just have to grieve and move forward and keep going, Buttons helped me develop my lower leg and he was just my best friend, I still can't believe I will never throw a leg over him again or give him a sweaty post ride hug, it's not real yet, despite having seen his grave...
So glad things turned out for the best for you and Zeb, I know now how easily it can all fall apart, I am so glad your setback was minor!
As my recent forturne cookie says "Everything serves to further."
I hope that means everything comes together for the ultimate best, but it's hard to see that right now!

Hi from Massachusetts in the US. So glad Zeb is doing ok! Just a suggestion, if you can get your hands on some manuka honey it works wonders healing wounds. I used it on our old horse when she had a wound on her leg and I was amazed at how quickly it healed. Just a thought! Good luck!

There is always a flip side to every situation. I am so glad that Zeb has recovered and your back riding him. Had to laugh at the failed attempt to sum up his progress. It was definitely an off day for your herd. ❤

My beautiful thoroughbred, Fiddler, had bone chips removed because of bone chips in his knee caused by hyper extension. He came out of it sound after several months of rest, but with a bit of scar tissue. I wouldn’t have jumped him, but he was great in the dressage arena and trail rides. Bless the vets! Hang in there Ashley. 🙏🏻❤️

Poor Zeb, I don't do insta or any of that so did not know he took a rude kick. Sorry it took so long to figure out there was at least one well that was a damned big chip so of course he didn't heal, body says foreign thing must go but a bone chip does not fester out like a thorn. Thank all Gods great and small he did okay with the antibiotics, never owned a horse but have seen what can happen with those, friend I'll never meet lost a grand brood mare because she could not tolerate the gut effects.
Glad Zeb is well on the road to recovery and loving life so long as you don't mess with him too much 😊😊😊
I did consider editing but decided to leave it as is. Life is real and not bows and butterflies.

Watched through my fingers as I dont do surgery 🤢... but my son had this lol..he broke the side of his patella and had surgery to remove floating bone... I have it (the fragment) in a jar 🤣.... My Mare has been kicked just before Christmas and fractured her splint bone. having to maybe have the same surgery to remove the broken bits. watching this has really put my mind at rest as I was so frightened of this having to happen. Glad zebs has made a full recovery given me a lot of reassurance. Not sure I could cope the same as you when they were back in the field lol :) think i am going to use bubble wrap !!

My warmblood mare got kicked during turnout and developed a sequestrum that separated from the bone, like Zeb’s only not as large a fragment as Zeb’s.
The location of the wound was really high up inside of the left hind leg. How did she get kicked in that strange place, you might wonder? Well, she is 17.2 hands tall, and she was turned out in a field with a boss mare who was only about 15.2 hands tall. So the kick went underneath her barrel, and landed high up on the inside aspect of her hind leg, fortunately just missing the stifle joint. She was quite lame on it the following day.
After diagnostics were performed, she was prescribed a long stretch of stall rest, because the vets wanted to see whether the bone chip would reabsorb by itself or not. Of course, she got antibiotics for the open wound on the leg, which really didn’t look like much except for puffy swelling. I wonder itself was not stitched because it was weeping and because the skin up there it’s really soft and would not hold a stitch very well.
Worst part about it was that you can’t bandage that part of a horse’s anatomy very well - thank goodness for vet wrap.
Luckily, her sequestrum did reabsorb, so surgery was not ultimately necessary. It took her out of riding action for about three months, though.
Meant to add that it could have been a lot worse, career-ending or worse. Three months wasn’t bad, under the circumstances.
