This is my favorite show.I wished i lived in a cabin to have peace and be happy.I keep praying ive watch some shows 3 or 4 times. You and your buddy are No#1 i love you guys
Saturday morning coffee and way too much snow!! Spring has hit the Carolinas and so has the work. I'm already tired from all that shoveling! Wish the younger generation had our old fogie drive and creativity. The whole world would be a better place. Looking forward to stewed potatoes after a hard day's work, thanks to Vonnies vlog yesterday! Yum! Hope y'all have a wonderful week! Thanks for sharing your journey.
It's so good to see you Martin. I think it has been about a year since I have been at your cabin. (on youtube I mean). The internet got too expensive for me, then the gov. came along and paid for a cheap version for us "poor" people, so here I am. I will be 80 in December, myself....never thought I would make it this long, but I do things like you do....I stay very active & have lost weight. We'll see what the good LORD has instore for me! Sure glad to see you & apparently your wife also because you are eating one of her delicious cherry pies! So good to be at the cabin again.
Just when you said there was a boring part coming up of you just feeding the birds. I cracked an ice cold home brew and watched ever second of it. Thanks for sharing Martin. Cheers from da ROCK!
Maybe I worry about such things too much. I do like to let folks know if there is a long static segment that they may not want to sit though or crack that cold one and really enjoy the extended play .
Well, Martin, it took about 110 coal shovels to unbury that tree. So I may have missed a few getting my coffee. But it is made of plastic. So I had to shover with steel. God Bles you with your health.
Wow lots of snow on the Roof ! Reminds me of Montmorency Co, Michigan. In our better Winters. We have lots of Red Oak, Balsam Fir and White Spruce. Red, White Pine.
10:30 - Work fascinates me. I could just sit and watch it for hours. Never heard that one before, have ya? I'd go camping on a nice sunny, warm day but not in the snow! Never in the snow!
I watch your videos periodically, actually quite often. They just relax me, make me chuckle, etc. But the end to this video is what I needed after a day like today. Watching the birds feed and the smoke float out of the chimney and I'm sure a few more things too. So I thank you.
I've taken note of the aluminum , short handled, shovel you're using (12 min mark)... Growing up in Northwest Ct I can remember my grandfather, even at 85 yrs young, using what was called at the time a coal shovel to do ALL of his snow removal. The shovel wasn't quite as large as the head on yours though his had the long, no grip, handle... He'd say "I'm not going anywhere" as he took another bite out of the snow...
Another very enjoyable video, Martin! I am glad you and Jim are spending a lot of time together. It is much safer if you go with a friend in case there is an accident. Looking forward to your next video. God bless you and Jim and your families.
i just love that your patients wins the hearts and trust of the animals. i can do the same thing lol just so nice to see others do the same. some very nice footage thanks for sharing with us :)
Nice video but I got tired watching you shovel all that snow! Just got back from my cabin wow. Still had 2 to 3 feet of wet, heavy snow at my place. We tried plowing the driveway and my truck transmission linkage broke and we were stranded at dusk with nobody around and a disabled vehicle with no ride back to where we were staying. Finally got a ride after calling an aquaintance up there. Got a tow truck on spot next morning and he got my truck so we could drive it. Thankful for some really nice, helpful people up that way. Anyways we got it fixed up and got accomplished at the cabin what we set out to get done. It is coming along nicely but a lot yet to do but what an experience to say the least!
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 exactly. Right now the cabin is to the point I can finish the rest pretty much on my own or with a little help. Big thing is I have heat now, a little electric if I need it and a shower. At least its liveable now can do it at my own pace.
Thanks for taking me along to wood's again. I found your channel a little over a year and a half ago and have enjoyed all the posts. I also enjoy the posts on Vonnie's channel. Please keep doing them as long as you are able. Thanks again for the trip to the woods!
Martin, you've made a great life for yourself! Very inspiring! Looks like you and Jim had a very nice time. I always enjoy your videos, they brighten my day. Thanks for all the hard work you put in to making them for us!
Thanks Martin for sharing your cabin with me once again. I love the birds as much as you do so I stayed till the end. I called out and asked you for one of Vonnie's world famous cherry pies but you seemed deep in thought and didn't hear me LOL. Great job Martin, I love your videos. I got Vonnie's cherry pie recipe, of her TH-cam channel, and hope to try it shortly.
Mmmmmmmm....im just like the birds you feed at the cabin! Keep sending out these videos and i'll keep coming back for more every time! And yes, you do have me eating out of the palm of your hand. Thanks Martin and Jim.
It always amazes me how fearless the birds get. I finished putting a roof on my bird feeding station yesterday and the birds were at the feeders almost the whole time. They would take off when I fired up the drill. Thanks for sharing.
Now I see how you get the birds eating out of your hand. You keep scooting the feed closer & closer until it’s on your lap. Great idea! Love the longer videos with the peaceful ending at the cabin. I always start my Saturday with You, Jim, and a cup of coffee.
Just another wonderful video Martin. It's March 26th today . Here in northern ontario we still have snow and ice. There is about 18 inches of snow in the bush and about 24 inches of ice on our lake. Looking at a cold front next week so we are good for a while. Heading to my island camp tomorrow. Hope you have a great week. Thanks for bringing us along at your cabin.
So good to see you this morning. I have a good cup of coffee and Amin my rocking chair enjoying watching you and Jim out in the snowy woods. Great way to start my Saturday morning before I get busy . Always enjoy your videos and Vonnie’s videos. Just keep having fun and making those much enjoyed videos. By the way, you can keep the snow because this old (87 1/2 years young) woman can not handle the cold. God bless and stay safe. From deep southeast Mississippi.
Nice to spend a little more time this week, y'all. I'm thinking the worst day scenario is when you forget to bring back in the toilet seat and the next to go has to "grin and bare" it! Very peaceful. 👍 😊
Another Great Winter Cabin life Video, Now that its the end of March and spring is busting in down here in Mass. Makes me wonder your situation at this time, im up early today watching your videos and listening to the Wild Turkeys spring gobbles down in my back woods! Thank you Martin and Jim for the inspiration!!!
Yet another great one Martin! Now I’m off to watch #20 again to get me through the rest of my cup for the morning. Until the next trail, Rooster from Texas
You did more work shoveling the snow off that tree than two people do in a years time lol. Nothing wrong showing what a day is like around the old place!! Loved it!!
You must mean fisherman Ron. No fishing at the cabin so no interest for him there. He has had Parkinson's a long time and may not be able to canoe with me this summer but still hoping he can make the trip.
Nice video, Martin. It's good to see that all is going well up there. Our own snow cover is gone now, but it just won't warm up and the wind never dies down. By the way...did Jim ever return from the outhouse? (Laughs). Last night my son and I had a couple beers while listening to YOUR favorite Country Music station and they played some great classic songs. Thanks for alerting us to that station through your video. Somehow we had missed seeing video #34 with the bear "break-in" before and found that to be quite something.. We envy your time at the cabin. Thanks for sharing it all.
Nice homestead final shot. Looked like something was in the window, a schedule? Sleeping outside is a great experience. Laying there staring at the night sky. Nice video.
Hey Martin! Been a follower/sub for a couple years now... Love the channel and always love the videos (seen every one)! But I've always been intrigued by the blue "picture" that hangs on the outer door of the cabin... wanted to know what it is.
Noted! Somewhere in an old video I show it up close but not sure which one. It is faded now but is a painting of two trappers skinning and fleshing hides in a lean-to.
Love watching your video's Martin and enjoy your work with the snow dog. But I was wondering how a cheapish pull start snowmobile like you see in some Alaskan video's would work in the deeper snow between your vehicle and the cabin. Could this be a option in the future to make access easier to and fro to the cabin.?
Hello Marin! I have a question. After ALL the years you’ve spent camping in the ol cabin, do you have any creepy or scary stories to tell. I saw the vid when a bear broke in while you were out, but did you ever wake up in the middle of the night thinking...”Now what just made that sound?” Or did you just sleep peacefully all those years? Just curious. Ive had a few “what the heck? moments at my cabin & im a wildlife biologist. 😉
I did awake one night to banging on the cabin. Cracked the door open and my light showed a bear checking for weak spots. It had been a bad year for the bears with no berries and it was desperate. I do need to relate a few other events.
We left the toilet seat in the outhouse. But, Grandpa cut it like the one at the gas station, then Grandma fit a pair of tube socks on it. It kept you from freezing your cheeks, and the socks were easy to launder, 'cause little boys don't always lift the seat, or aim worth a darn.
We never get those dry crystaline snown here between the lakes in London On. just that wet stuff for the most part. Just a bit further north, an hour or two north of Toronto, and you're back into the nice dry squeaky stuff, a matter of 5 minutes to dig the car into a sopt by the road to hike into the cabin. Shoveling the way to the outhouse is a breeze.
Nice. Loving the easy layer back living. Keep the coffee going and enjoy.
That's the plan!

Yes, safety in numbers. I will probably have enough retired friends now that winter trips will never be solo again.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 give me a call if you ever need a travel buddy. LOL!! Your cottage and the area are magical.

Watching you shovel out the log made me think of the old adage, ‘firewood heats you twice’. In your case it’s three times.
It did do that.

Love this.

Thanks for the beautiful day in the winter woods
Thanks for coming along.
Just so beautiful up there and peaceful. Thank you for the longer video to enjoy my coffee with you.
Stretching them out a little more per request by many.

Thanks, you too!
Looks like he added some extra scoops of grounds. 😳
He has been known to do that. On one canoe trip the first can only lasted three days.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it

Is that the most snow you have seen up there. It’s snowing here in southern Michigan today. Yippee
A little deeper one year long ago and one year it was even deeper and I knew enough not to even try.

Yup, I could get into that! It must be very difficult to leave! Well, with all that snow one could lose a shoe very easily!
It is hard and those pesky shoes just sift down into the snow.

OK I have to ask... What was the noise at 20:30 ??? It sounded like a 600 pound frog a half mile away. LOL
Sounded like a squatch. And a wood knock at 20:58.
If I was a story teller it would be the sasquatch next door but in truth it was Jim dropping wood onto a plastic sled out in the woodshed.
Man ,Martin ! I need to tell Vonnie if she needs anything done around home ,just get you a good strong cup O coffee!!....haahaaha😁
