"i'm not the type of personality to put myself in front of the camera, i hate doing it but i still do it" i needed to hear this so bad, cause i've been doubting whether to put myself out there on tiktok even when i feel deep inside is what i have to do. thx danny
This shows me that my "bad" videos are a phase, I have to keep growing and improving, and eventually, it'll all come together and be worth it. Thank you for this video, Danny. Edit: Ori has serious flow
“Be willing to be a fool to become a master” Also I find it funny your first film that “sucks” inspires you still today. Which means it is continuing to do the desired outcome that you talked about 1.) you made it for yourself 2.) to inspire someone
the cinematography here is absolute fire. fellow young creative here (just started two months ago) and your art inspires me each day. thank you for the words of wisdom and the throwbacks!
Love it. The most inspiring thing about looking at old work is seeing the instincts and sensibilities that were there from the start. There's an authenticity about early work that's always special.
Nothing feels more better than watching your old films when you were just "winging it". Realizing how far you came, & that its only just the beginning. Salute to you Danny, may we cross paths one day !
When you said “DANNY YOURE DOING IT” made me choke up, cause right now I’m putting in work to improve and get to the level I wanna be at and I wanna make my future self proud. Thank you for sharing this
Wow! Mark Bone literally just dropped a video a couple hours ago plugging in one of his earlier documentary hard drives and sharing his first footage as well…you guys are in sync today! 👍🎥
yea Danny, so nice to see this. Feels like watching over the years that everything you put out has always been amazing, glad to see that you had to work for it just like the rest of us. Thanks for this one and the other videos on your channel, keep makin' it happen!
Thank you for sharing! I always feel like my perfectionist attitude prevents me from even trying to get better in the film world but it’s good to see the original films to see that even the best started off somewhere
I'm at a point in my career where i feel like my film style hasn't progressed or it feels stale. Seeing this really gave me a perspective that it will get better. Thank you Danny!
Great message in this video! Just shows how much you've put in! And nothing wrong with being emotional! Shows just how passionate you are about your craft! Also - Sansa back-sleeping in the background 😂
Danny you j inspired me so much. Im a 17 y/o aspiring filmmaker with a family who don’t believe in all this filmmaking stuff yk so watching you talk about ur journey and the step you took to follow your dream, live the life you wanted and eventually being vvv successful with the decision makes me so much more motivated and happy as I’m doing the same and Ik if you got successful, I will too j gotta keep creating! Plus Im about to shoot my first proper cinematic film tmrw and I was so nervous istg but watching this I feel confident and ik even if I mess up (which I might tbvh) it’s alright as I know the more I create the more I’ll get better at my art and become the kinda filmmaker I want to be. Thankyouu sm for inspiring me man, I subscribed right away and I rlly hope to meet you someday! Loveyou man!
i watched the bts of your film during summer and it motivated me to finally make my first short (i'm 19), but i saw that it sucked tremendously so i still haven't finished editing it, i can't bear it. this video though... you inspired me again, thank you... i guess we just need to embrace our work because "failure" is still better than nothing
Kudos for having the courage for going back down that rabbit hole! More importantly I absolutely love Sansa in the background with the belly up, paws up "support"
Really inspiring stuff Danny! It’s sometimes hard to share your own work when you see how the people you look up to are making incredible stuff. This is a good reminder that everyone starts in the same place. Thanks Danny!
It was so inspiring to watch. Thank you for everything you gave to us with all your videos and incredible stories. You motivated me to quit everything few years ago (actually 1 years and half lol) to pursue my dreams. Again, thank you Danny.
Thank you for being vulnerable. You not being afraid to show your true emotions is what separates you from most and connects you more to us. Thank you for showing you care, thank you for inspiring❤
Man this was motivating, even though I started officially a year and some change ago it’s often cringe to watch older videos but there’s a sense of nostalgia there. Even the GOAT Danny G had to start from somewhere, but my favorite thing is to learn from each project to make it better!
Such an inspiration! Similar to your first day of life video I’m actually at the exact same crossroads right now. Steady secure job that I’m leaving in March and I’m going all in on myself to make filming my job.
Danny, you are such an incredible inspiration to countless people around the world. This was a beautiful video, you've clearly come a long way and its amazing to see where you are now. Take it from a guy in smalltown Alberta, I have made some stinkers through my time in high school and even after into film school. But I love all of them, what I learned during & after making them is more valuable than anything I could've asked for. I'm almost 23, graduated from film school last year and I still have so much to learn. Right now I'm writing a feature and getting ready to apply for grants for another short film, a musical too, way outside my comfort zone. I do worry sometimes, trying to balance working on my own stuff while also trying to find work on paying sets... But videos like this and many others with your sincerity and optimism give me hope that things will pan out the way they're supposed to. So, thank you, for giving everyone hope that it's going to be okay. And to be creative. - Jared P.S. Can't wait to finally be able to see 'I Think I'm Sick' when it's available.
I love that you give yourself props and acknowledge the potential of your early work. Other creators seem to only self deprecate throughout the whole thing. Genuinely authentic and refreshing!
This is inspiring and eye-opening some time back looked at my first TH-cam video and was laughing at myself but also it made me appreciate growth. Thank you Danny for this authentic video
I started learning filmmaking 3 years ago watching your channel and now I do it professionally. Thanks for what you do and how you share it man. Keep being authentic.
Love the emotion, shows how genuine you are. These obviously show so much potential and for most of us they don’t SUCK! It’s hard to put yourself out there, most of us should go for it and not overthink it. Your attitude is so likable and relatable. It’s wild to know someone like you even thinks they aren’t great on camera when you are. 🔥 Thanks for this Danny!
From time to time going back to the old work just inspire your true self and it brings back a lot of positive energy and sometimes you get an idea that you’ll be like hay i can pull this concept better now.
You've definitely come a long way but it's crazy to see the bones all there from the start. The composition truly was great on all those shots. Thanks for sharing these!
That is where I am at now...I am not a "in front of the camera" person. I just want to make my projects. Even knowing that in order to do that, I need to add some in front of the camera projects...haven't got past the fear part of that yet!
Bro, you also got me thinking about where I was at in 2014-2015 with my work, getting some editorials and thinking I was the best photographer on earth after Peter Lindbergh. LOL It's so easy to get lost in the amazing quality of the videos being produced now, but newcomers don't realize there's many years of work and learnings, and mistakes, behind. Thanks for the beautiful reminder. Also hope your shoot goes well, man. TTYS.
Great stuff man, it's great to see how you've grown it over the past 8 years, just reminds us who are just starting out that talent doesn't come out of nowhere, it's developed over time. I'm just 16, started my filmmaking career last February. Looking forward to growing my portfolio this year. Congrats on the 300K, you deserve it man.
Man I wish I backed up my stuff to external hard drives. I did back it up, but it was all in the same computer so when my powersupply blew, it took ALL my drives with (including the backups). Now I'm struggling to build my showreel because I only have like 5 projects to showcase 😅. But damn Danny, you've come so far man! And I'm so glad to have been apart of the journey and watch it happen in real time man! Looking forward to the rest!
Ah, bro, this vid made you feel like we we're there sitting in the room with you as you run through this haha, so rad. Keep inspiring Dan, I've been learnin heaps, laughing lots and getting inspired from this channel for 2 year now. I've also just been retrenched from work, where I've been an in-house videographer for 4 years now, so I will be setting off on my own freelance journey. So, a very timely video to watch from me. 🙏
thank you for showing us this this does show it doesn't matter where you are in life just create im from Philly and move out to fl and I had to learn that you just got to reach out to people and create the best way you can to grow and seeing this helped me do that 🙏🏾 you came a long way and thank you for sharing your journey with us keep growing
Where were you when I was 20 lol. I was so frustrated that my projects weren't going anywhere. Now I know I was spending my time learning. I wouldn't be where I am today as a filmmaker if it weren't for all the terrible stuff I made for years
If Danny thinks that he doesn’t have the personality for TH-cam, then we don’t have a chance. Danny you definitely have the personality, you are funny, genuine person with great quality of inspiring people. Keep doing what you love, and people will always watch you and support you, at least I will.
hahahaha I thought I was the second coming of eminem and now i make indie pop music. it gets better kids
Hahah we’ve come a long way
😂 Danny owes you one for sharing that
I appreciate the shout out haha! Keeping not only me inspired, but so many others!
There he is
"i'm not the type of personality to put myself in front of the camera, i hate doing it but i still do it" i needed to hear this so bad, cause i've been doubting whether to put myself out there on tiktok even when i feel deep inside is what i have to do. thx danny
My God, I've been asking myself the same thing too! I'm glad to know it's normal.
Danny this video might have just changed my life. Thank you for such an encouragement!
This shows me that my "bad" videos are a phase, I have to keep growing and improving, and eventually, it'll all come together and be worth it. Thank you for this video, Danny.
Edit: Ori has serious flow
Hahah thanks man
so glad you captured that office b-roll, it's easy to have just shrugged it off & not gone to those lengths to capture that time of life.
It's good to see your heart on screen, brother! As always, thank you for sharing of yourself for the good others!
Thanks Chris!
Can we just acknowledge and appreciate the way Sansa is sleeping at 7:00 😂
“Be willing to be a fool to become a master”
Also I find it funny your first film that “sucks” inspires you still today. Which means it is continuing to do the desired outcome that you talked about
1.) you made it for yourself
2.) to inspire someone
Amen man!
Dude this is a cool ass video!! I appreciate you being emotional on camera too, this is an awesome video and reflection to see

Your the man Danny! Love the vulnerability and showing the progression. Your feeling of discomfort is is a comfort to many others so keep it up
Love it. The most inspiring thing about looking at old work is seeing the instincts and sensibilities that were there from the start. There's an authenticity about early work that's always special.
Definitely man. Thanks!
Keep being emotional, Danny, we love it.
This is inspiring! Love hearing you say "im gonna do it".... and Danny did it!! Congrats brother

Always inspiring me. I'm so glad to be a part of this community. Love you Danny
You are the best inspiration to me Danny! All the time. Please keep inspiring.
We know that it's hard to be on YT, but that's why vulnerability is a strength! Appreciate not only your creativity, but your authenticity!
Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing Danny! You’re an inspiration for many of us! Love you
Love this Danny G. Thanks brother!
Thank you man!
You are a whole inspiration for many of us, thank you for keep sharing your life and process, truly means alot.

Oh man, I know the feeling so well watching old stuff. You're much better at being kind to yourself - that's the biggest thing I took away from this.
I really enjoyed this man! Makes me wanna crack into the old drives and relive the early days of figuring it all out. Keep it up.
Looking forward to seeing i think im sick in Manchester in a few weeks Danny
If you are around after would be a dream to meet you
Heck yeah! I’ll def hang before and after the screening. Also will be doing a panel talk the day before where I’ll see people

I love how Sansa just absolutely knocked out beside you while we witness the most inspiring filmmaking video ever. LOL
Lol she’s the best
Such an inspiration! Similar to your first day of life video I’m actually at the exact same crossroads right now. Steady secure job that I’m leaving in March and I’m going all in on myself to make filming my job.
I honestly loved your “day in the life” video! Gave me such 90’s vibes. I’ve been following you for years now and you’re such an inspiration!
Thanks dude!

The biggest takeaway I got from this is that quantity leads to quality
You've definitely come a long way but it's crazy to see the bones all there from the start. The composition truly was great on all those shots. Thanks for sharing these!
Haha thanks dude
Thanks for sharing Danny 🙌❤
Yes, keep making stuff. That's what we say!

Lmao!!!
Just remembered why I like your channel so much (:
Sansa straight VIBING in the back 🤣

Wake up mom! A new Danny Gevirtz video dropped.
If Danny thinks that he doesn’t have the personality for TH-cam, then we don’t have a chance. Danny you definitely have the personality, you are funny, genuine person with great quality of inspiring people. Keep doing what you love, and people will always watch you and support you, at least I will.
Thank you! More so I don’t have the personality that *wants* to be in front of the camera haha
Hahahaha. Filmmakers always bring consistently cheerful.
