First of all... I want to commend You on this massive project of an unabridged timeline of my favorite Final Fantasy installment. Watching it brought back many fond memories; especially those of my Mother whom I lost December 2nd of last year. I remember back in August of 1999 my Mother buying me FF8 after just looking at it at a Target. This title was also the beginning of me going to college so I truly gravitated to the young characters and grew as they grew in the game; to the point where I felt like I was part of their experiences. Although I played FFVII before VIII (it was my introduction to the franchise), I never truly finished the game. I would watch my cousin play it and ultimately beat it. But FF8...man...it was the first FF I played through. I felt when Squall was unraveling. I fell in Love with Rinoa and Her free spirit. And the addition of "Eyes on Me" during the end scene broke me. It was the first video game that made me cry. I truly thought Squall was completely separated from those whom he realized he truly Loved; especially Rinoa. But I think it was the flashback/timetravel of Laguna and Raine that really got me and how he never got to say goodbye to Her. At the time I thought Ellone had given him the chance via Her ability but didn't realize that he was reminiscing at her gravesite. After finishing this game, it left me wanting to create a story so character driven that folks would Feel each and every moment. ThANKH You for this series of videos. It truly helped me relive some of my most precious childhood transitioning to young adult moments. And ThANKH You so much for including a lot of the lore either buried deep in the game or found only in Ultimanias. It truly added a lot of meat to parts of the story that had to be cut. As far as the next unabridged timeline? I think Final Fantasy XII would be interesting; especially with how much of the lore was in the description of the monsters and items and not in the playable story. And of course it's wider Ivalice connection to Tactics & Vagrant Story. But if that's a toooo large of an undertaking, maybe FF9 perhaps.. Great job🙏🏻
FF8 had an unfortunate placement between 7 & 9 - the future and the past of the series, respectively. The story is one of the main reasons it still manages to hold its own among the PS1 releases. Thanks for the video!
I'd never beaten FF8, mostly because I wasn't a big fan of its mechanics. This series of videos made me a fan of its story, as well as its lore, and makes me want to give it another honest go at it! I definitely feel like FF10 or FF12 would be an interesting next step.
FFVIII is great. The mechanics are weird when you first get into it, especially if you’re used to a more traditional character development and progress system. But VIII also has one of the funnest systems to “exploit” and make your characters absolutely OP, but it takes some work at manipulating things.
This was just a fantastic journey, it made me so happy to dive so deep into the game that Introduced me to final fantasy, and perhaps my first love for a game.
This series was awesome! I've played FF8 so many times, and even I learned a thing or two. As for the future of this series, I'd love to see a timeline of FF6 or FF9, but regardless of the next one you cover, I'mma watch it!

The easy answer is FF VII compilation, just to know what's there to know outside of the remake. My actual answer is FF6 with all the heroes and plotlines to follow it's bound to be a fun story.

I say she's one of THE Best Epic FF Villains I've ever seen throughout the years. The ONLY Powerful Forms of Ultimecia's I Absolutely Love are the First, Second and Third Forms of Ultimecia in this Game.
Final Fantasy V could be an interesting story to go through, since it's not as well known to the English-speaking world as the ones past VII, and it has some interesting twists and turns in its history. I could see it being a four parter, between the Dawn Warriors, Bartz's World, Galuf's World, and The Whole World, though the videos would probably not be quite as long as in this one.
The next timeline you could cover should be XV. Big chunks of the story are spread across the animes, the optional DLCs, or "hidden" in readables that you have to find yourself. Thus it is the story that would benefit the most from it to all being consolidated in one place.
13:40 I have often wondered if the devs had ever thought about creating conditional conversations/scenes/etc in FFVIII based on junction use. It would be a fascinating thing to explore if they ever remade the game. Imagine if you’d decided to junction 8 GFs to two people for a stint and by the end of the game they were a little more unhinged in their dialog or even forgetting events that happened earlier in the game.
Playing this as a child, Rinoa always rubbed me the wrong way, but I didn't understand why. As an adult, I now understand it's coz she's a nasty little opportunist.
Since the usage of Guardian Force sapping the memories of its users, it can be used as a plot device to utilize the limitation of FF8 overarching plot. The reason is, should the party member already knows too much, the game experience would be soured, but making them losing the memories, we can learn and relate with others naturally as the game progress. During the section with Laguna, we don't understand why we switch the character from the aloof Squall into cheerful Laguna, however with subsequent switch in the game, we can find out who is Laguna and why his related to Squall as we delve the connection into Squall sister and Laguna adopted daughter, Ellone.
Personally I'd like to see Unabridged Timelines of FF3, FF5, FF9, FF12 (or more specifically the Unabridged Timeline of Ivalice) and the FFXIII trilogy (including the Paradox timelines of FFXIII-2). I'd also naturally like to see FFVII but probably best to wait until after FFVII-R3 in order to make that as complete and comprehensive as possible.
FF8 is one of the greatest rpgs of its era… I wish FF were still cool, weird and charming like this. And wtf happened to the cool original aesthetics FF used to have? And god forbid they make a turn based rpg even though baldurs gate, persona, yakuza and many others are breaking records while way outselling FF I really hope they wise up and start making turn based again
