  • The final stwp before we can balance the carbs - cam chain adjustment. Something that is often overlooked & if left poorly adjusted can cause internal engine damage to guides, casings & not to mention reduce the engine's efficiency.
In this video I run through the simple steps to perform this servicing task, no special tools are required.
    Enjoy

Another great step by step video. The manuals often seem to omit helpful information and you walk viewers through the procedure in a way that makes sense. Thank you Andy.

I did that to my bike, a 750E.
I replace the points forty years ago.
Keep the plate justin case solid state fails on a ride.
Never had a problem ran sweet even with a built motor of 836cc. 3/4 race cam. 140mph on a rigid frame. It sat so low didn't even have a kickstand. Step off walk away wouldn't fall over.
Very reliable motor. Miss it. Age.67. Veteran.

I'm really glad that electronic ignition and new coil are working out. Motorcycle restorers swear by the electronic ignition kit, as it is so hard to find points and condensers. I am not even sure if they are made anymore.

Thanks for this clear explanation. Can the chain be over-tightened and if so how can that be tension be reduced?

No, so long as you dont manually push the plunger & only use spring tension you'll be just fine. Cheers Andy
