I’m so glad i discovered this channel. I had given up on this game around chapter 3. Basically accepted I couldn’t beat it. However some random folks in this community encouraged me to keep pressing on.
So I did, and damn this game is amazing. I think an issue some players are running into is they get stuck at a boss fight & then give up thinking there is no other way to progress.
However the game has quite a lot of side quests and hidden boss fights throughout Chapter 1 and 2. So you can actually just leave that boss - and go explore.
As you unlock new weapons/powers and Will just by naturally completing these side quests - you eventually become powerful enough to re-face that boss.
Some of the game’s secrets aren’t that straight forward tho. I was stuck on Chapter 3 and didn’t realize I had missed like 3 hidden boss fights + several key powers in the opening sections.
Anyways if you were one of the guys in the comments that told me not to give up - thank you. You guys are awesome! Sadly I don’t have any gamer friends in real life that play challenging games. So you guys really helped me out when I needed it the most. ❤

Exactly. I was disgusted when I watch a certain reviewer reduce the combat to overly simple and the player can beat the entire game with roll and attack. Of course these reviewers are way more dexterous than I am, but I am inclined to believe they are FOS.

Yeah this game is so good! I’ve had to walk away, reset my sparks, try again, and eventually i can beat the challenge. One boss wrecked me over 20 times, then i studied the patterns, and beat him with half my health left.. this game is something special.

I look at HowLongToBeat estimates for game lengths sometimes to decide what Im going to play next based on my schedule and more often than not I complete it under the stated times. Now add in some video editing knowledge and the motivation of sweet sweet youtube ad revenue and sponsorships and you can bet your ass I would be able to complete a 35 hour game in a week and put out a video. And Buddhism features heavily in Black Myth. Hence, the length of the act can be justified imho.

the annoying part is that these parries are locked behind initiating an attack, focus building, or mana. I wish it had a base block/parry like sekiro. It could just be me but it would make combat so much more satisfying.

@@brightboxawesome2702 Something something risk reward. The thing with moves like resolute strike is that you don't actually have to hit with the initial light attacks. It requires a banked focus point to activate, but only the followup actually spends focus points. You see an enemy ready to charge at you? Light attack nothing and go into resolute strike to parry. There's also gear sets, relic, and talents that reduce the cooldown of rock solid down to like 5 seconds cooldown and refunds almost all of the mana cost if you want to go that route.

As a KBM gamer myself, I had to use Razer macros to bind my Mouse Buttons to keyboard keys and play this way. It worked really well :D
The game does lose 30-40fps in some sections (so far there's one area in Chapter 2 that always loses 30-40fps for me, not sure why, the combat there was terrible lol). Other than that it ran pretty smoothly for me too. No crashes on AMD/RTX 3070 build. I get around 70fps at High with 2 settings on Very High and 65-70% DLSS.
I didn't vibe with the game in chapter 1 and the first half of chapter 2, but once I got more abilities (more key bindings too), the game really clicked with me. It has a similar flow to God of War - combos, spells, more combos, more spells after some CD, more combos, etc. But the Resolute Strike is really fun to pull off and the ability to chain light attacks again after Resolute and then another Resolute immediately into another stronger heavy, etc. Really cool combo chaining. It doesn't hold your hand too much, you need to have the talents to dodge without losing the combo streak in order to pull off longer combos, which makes it really fun for me.
My advice for everyone is to not give up before chapter 3 - first 2 chapters are definitely very introductory with new and new keybindings being added and the combat getting more and more complex. Towards the end of Chapter 2 (if you've found most secrets), you will have got every available keybinding + the muscle memory for the combat and the fun starts around this point in the game.
I love the countless ways you can "progress", constantly new things to augment the gameplay

Combos? I'd say this game is severely lacking on that front compared to action games I've played in the past, not to mention the fact that just bashing square seems to be the optimal way to deal damage, combos, if you can even call them that often just expose the player. To me the combat feels like GoW / FFXVI but is by far the least polished and by far the least diverse combat wise. For my money if you have 1 weapon all game the devs should give you a diverse moveset and different stances should mean different stances - not different heavy attacks. I've grown up on these games and this just feels like the most rushed mechanically I've ever played. Look at Nioh, a choice of about 10-11 different types of weapons, all with 3 stances each and more diverse movesets per stance that there is in Wu Kong with just the one stance and one weapon. Wu Kong is fun, but its so unbelievably bare bones that I just can't help but wonder what they could've achieved had they'd just not bothered trying to make the game look really pretty. For a lot of us graphics sit on the bottom of the pile of wants in a game. Gameplay first, always.

    • @whatswhite110
      @whatswhite110 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

This is the biggest reason for the decline of stand-alone games. Players are crazy about gameplay, but many people cannot play well. In order to cater to players, manufacturers make extreme changes to the operation. A game that can make money is often easy to use and has a low learning cost. In order to cater to players like you, game companies make the game more and more complicated, making it difficult for many ordinary people to play. The fundamental reason why this game can quickly sell 10 million copies is that the graphics meet expectations, not the gameplay. The older people are, the worse their operation will be, so it is difficult to expand the group and attract more people to play a game with complex operations.

    • @Puppylucky888

@@upon-fe2720compare to Nioh 2 the gameplay does seem lacking. It took me so long to understand the mechanics in Nioh. With Wukong it was easy to learn and easier to master. Although there is only one weapon, the different staffs you can craft, mixed with the correct stance and magic abilities was fun. Playing with the different combinations changed the gameplay enough for me to keep my interest. That’s where I spent most of my time experimenting. Also no cost of respec allowed me to do that often.

I don't consider myself an action RPG kinda player at all and I'm having a blast in this game. The art direction and cinematic fights alone are enough to draw me in, I find myself reading all the journal entries and love piecing together the story from those stories and the chapter ending animations as well (which are SO AMAZING). In terms of art direction, the most memorable fight for me personally was the yin-yang taoist ink arena fight. Possibly the most beautiful thing i've ever seen in a game.

What I like about the armors being able to be upgraded is that sometimes you can have bad stats on one that looks really good and vice versa but the moment you upgrade the good-looking one you now have one that you like and that is powerful. But generally, I like when you can get the effects of one and the looks of another as long as you have both. I have played a few games that does this. While this game is not one of them at least I can make the ones I like to be more powerful.

It is an awesome game, nothing much to say about that. If you like the likes of Nioh, GoW and the likes I think you will love this game. If you do not like those cheesy hack-n-slash games that heavily relies on pressing buttons really fast then you will not like this game. As simple as that tbh the game is a dodge simulator that is increasingly easier and easier the later you got into the game, and tbh the game is like a boss gauntlet at least it feels that way you will run into a boss every 2 minutes or so in the span of 30~ish hrs or so unless you really want all those 81 achievements or sth.
Also at the highest specs the game is flawless, the better PC you got the less the game is likely to crash or bug out, but tbh even on a weaker self-built PC like I got (AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, Radeon GX 7900, RAM 32 GB) crashes/bugs rarely happen like once in 10 hours or so so imho it is very polished and optimized. Mind you the game is very confusing as there is NO MAP so unless you abuse Google there is a high chance you will get lost a decent amount of times so... Yeah BM: Wukong isn't for everyone tbh.
