Hi Doug, thank you for this nice video :) It is very nice to see the stuff that I made with my own hands in use around the world... yippieyeah! Just some quick comment: Take a closer look on the top cover setting, the small triangle can be folded over and hang over the centre pole, so you do not need the small rope to fix it in place ;) The rope is meant for fixing the cover in place in case you hang the tent to external poles, and a rope has to penetrate the cover with triangle folded open (somewhat hard to explain...). For pipe setup in 2P Soswa, I use 1 elbow on the stove, 3pcs straight+ isolated, second elbow outside, rest can stay at home. The other 2 straight pipes are for the 4P tent. Before igniting the stove, you can fill it up completely, and place a featherstick or similar starter just in front the lay of wood, where the air comes in. After lighting, close the door and wait until it starts "pumping", before you put the damping can on with the small holes fully open. Wait until the first spots on the stove start to glow, then slowly close the air. For me that is the fastest way. When the stove is fully burning, you can close the damper completely, and it will burn very very slow with the air that is still leaking in. I got more than 6hrs of heat on one lay of hardwood. This stove is indeed oversized for the 2P tent, you can even make an 80°C sauna in the 4P with the S sized Poshehonka. But the damping is quite effective, and when you turn it to zero, you will be fine even in the 2P tent. Florian
awesome! thanks for having a look and i have already tried out what you are suggesting with success and will show in future video.if you noticed in the sped up part i tried it that way but did not like the height with the 2 extra pipes upright as it kept tipping over so i switched it around but Now that i know i don't need them it it makes perfect sense and like the lower profile. also glad to hear i can dampen the stove right off as i was starting to think it would be way too hot
@@dougLinkerIt is good that you put so much try and thaught in your setup before ignition. Some customers are not that patient, and burn an ugly fat hole in their tent on first chance :/ But there is one disadvantage if you leave the pipe quite short outside the tent- if you have a bunch of big sparks/glowing soot/other bad stuff flying out of the pipe, they are more likely to land on your tent and burn holes. So if you burn bad softwood, I recommend the spark arrestor. If you use mostly hardwood, and you do not go for 200% throttle, imo there is no need. You can also carry the one or two leftover straight pipes, and leave the second elbow at home. Then you can continue the pipe after the isolated one, to create bigger distance to the tent... many ways to do it ;)
Florian It's great to hear input/ advice from the person that actually made it, I like the fact that your passionate and care about the things you make and it not being "just a job" Respect 🤘
Oh what a fun, fun, fun, video! 👍👍 You are such a charming gentleman; I so enjoy your style of humor. To me, you are the 21st century Will Rogers who famously said he’d never met a man he didn’t like. What an awesome job you did of explaining and assembling you incredible new heat stove. It was 99 degrees when I was watching the fire burn so I knew how hot you were. Finn was such a great right hand man.😊 My favorite part was you on the swing. Thank you for making this difficult Day of Remembrance end on a joyful note. You’re a cut above the rest! Californian here.
Nice to see that I am not the only adult who likes to take a swing ride once in a while! You and Joe and Shawn are my favorite YTers, subbed to all of you! You are down to earth, not pretentious like some guys are. I enjoyed the vid, nice stove and lavvu. As always, stay safe.
4:56 best part of the video. "So this is me, laying here." haha. Can't wait to see you out using this beauty tent this winter, Doug! Tschum tents are amazing, thanks for introducing me to this company.
It does look like a nice stove & with a good amount of cooking surface. Multipurpose gear in the tent makes good sense. It was fun to see you so excited.
I really love this kind of video. I have respect for your opinions and thoughts on things like this and totally get that you are testing gear before a trip. Looks like interesting setup. Can’t wait to see you using it in the cold!!!
I liked this video a lot. The swing was a gem. Am looking forward to you trying out your new stove this winter. I agree with some of the others, it was cool to see you so excited about this. Stay warm!!
Love the test run....very smart idea. Like the configuration of the pipe. Was waiting for you to say "make a coffee"....I was thinking the same thing! Nice tent, fun, fun, fun. :)
That's one sweet looking stove. Looks like a good match with your tent. Can't wait to see your first winter video. Nothing like new good gear to make one happy. Liked the video. Take care, Al
I think it was a brilliant video testing out the stove at home. It can surely be a dangerous thing to do at a campsite for the test run if things don't go well. You could, like you said, end up poisoned by fumes, burn up your tent if you set it up wrong, or no heat on a very cold night! I enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing!
I like the whole set up, Thanks. I always used a plastic ground cloth when camping, large enough to cover the footprint and 4 inches up each side. This way the gear and I stayed dry even in a downpour. I never did a real winter camping trip but the stove is perfect for your reasoning. Have fun.
I enjoyed your video. I like this format. I felt like I was sitting around with you while you were telling me about your new gear. Thanks. Seeing the excitement on your face is priceless. I'm definitely looking forward to your winter trips! Stay well and feel the burn! LOL.
Hello Doug ... Nice to see you become so happy for your new stove....I really like your backyard ... with all the big and small "weirdness" ... old tool and not least the deer in iron .... just my style
Great little video. Always a pleasure seeing you horsing around 😂. Looks like a good stove. Can't wait to see you in the woods with it. Thanks for sharing.
Doug I am undoubtedly your biggest fan, you are somewhat of a celebrity to me. I’m a huge fan of what you do and you have inspired me to pick up whittling. I see that you have carved “delmer” by mike Shipley and I have wanted to carve him for so long now but am entirely terrified of the project. I have the roughout cut out via band saw but I haven’t started carving because it terrifies me, I would literally do anything for you to show a video of you carving the delmer... sincerely your most desperate biggest fan...
I miss my wood stoves and fireplaces. What I love about this one is you can hear the crackling of the fire. I would go to sleep very quickly listening to it. Thank you, this was most interesting.
Awesome little stove you got there for your tent Nothing wrong with having a little bit of fun Now you will be doing some deep winter camping I look forward to the videos Stay safe as always And enjoy your day
Great setup ! Might be a good idea to put a little sand in the stove at the bottom to protect it so the coals don’t stick. Or make a false bottom of some kind. Anyways looking forward to your 1st trip with this setup. Thanks for sharing.
I have a cabelas deluxe alakanak for over 20yrs, I put them 6×8×1 hard firebricks on the bottom of my wood burning stove, makes it easier to scoop out the stove after a night fire in the morning, plus get yourself a spark arrestor for the top of the flue, gloves and a stout wire brush-scraper are a must. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for showing us the setup! I second your notion about having the side panels welded on: more surface to radiate heat to deal with deep cold and safer to work around. The insulated sleeve pipe seems like a 'must have' for any tent that doesn't come with a fireproof stove port. It is always best to work out a setup at home rather than finding yourself befuddled in the cold and wet and/or dark. The set up looks good Doug. Stove is magic. Can't wait to see you out for real using it. The highlight of the video was seeing you flying past the screen on the swing like a little kid lol
You made me laugh out loud, wasn't expecting you to swing by on that shot 😂 Fairplay, it looks like a great little set up, I'll be sure to check out those links now. Thank you for sharing.
Another great video Doug we love the Tschum tent and stove it looks like a great setup for the winter thank you for showing it to us . we can't wait to see your next adventure .. A+
I'm not much of a camper but that stove looks like it will be awesome for your winter camping to stay toasty warm and dry. Wise man to try it all out close to home and share with the world. Coffee under cover sounds pretty nice for the cold mornings as well as cooking inside might definitely be a plus. Thanks for the experience and many Happy Days of Bush Camping to you : )

A nice stove for sure. It should make your extreme cold camping a lot safer and more comfortable. Enjoyed the vid. Thank you for sharing. Have a toasty day.
Nice looking set up. Interesting stove design. I did notice that the first pipe goes down into the stove quite a ways. It looks to end even with the top of the door opening. This is a common design issue. The smoke level will be at that height and will always pour out the door. I would suggest drilling some holes in the pipe just below the top of the stove. The smoke level will be much higher and not pour out the front as much. Also angle stove so the back is a little higher than the front.
Thanks for sharing with us Doug, you and Finagan are keeping warm this winter. Joe's gonna want to try it out with you for sure. So catch abunch Doug.Thanx again, Arkansas Clyde
Nice stove Doug! Really looking forward to seeing you use it in a cold weather camping trip. Thanks for long hike out and setting up your tent to do this video! 😁😁
I smoked myself out of my tent the first night I slept in it from creosote build up. There is definitely a learning curve with these things. I’m looking forward to this winters adventures! Cheers!
come to think of it Doug.. that tenth and stove will be handy on a very cold weather .. planning to go on camping and stuff that needs to bring got ideas from u and Shawn thank u for sharing ... tc
It is a thing of beauty! I was slightly worried that the bottom was too flimsy without reinforcement of some kind, but it worked out great, and is obviously lighter. Edit: nice tent too! You were like a kid at Christmas!
If you get in the habit of opening the damper before the stove door, you won't smoke yourself out. It took me several trips to learn that habit. Very nice set up and video
Very nice Doug, sensible doing a test fit and burn. Now if something changes on the way in and you get to camp late you will already have the picture plan sorted ,,, no guess work boom boom boom fires going Doug's a happy camper. Thumbs up have a great day :-)
Hi Doug from Germany. The two man Tschum gets really hot no matter which of the Posh stoves you get. It is way more comfortable with the four man Lavvu. One helpful tip is to get two or three grates that you can place into the stove to help in getting air to the wood inside as well as distributing the weight inside. I basically made three grates bending in the ends with about 1.5 inches of space. I made three of them so that I could fit them into the hole of the stove. The immediate benefit was no bulging of the sheet metal at the bottom center of the stove.
@@dougLinker hello, sorry to bother, this stove has very little reviews online, how do you like it after a few uses? is it durable enough? I'm a bit scared with the thinness of the metal
My neighbor once told me I looked like a senior chihuahua in heat in the driveway when the Amazon truck was coming down the street LOL I always did a gear break-in before taking anything out on a camp trip.Especially a tent !!! Great video Doug, looking forward to your 1st trip with stove and tent.
Doug. Loved this video. If you ever think the small poshehonka stove is too big may I suggest the Japanese MOKI MK-6K stove. Great video from Log Shige on the Tschum 2P SOSWA tent. Start at the 10 minute mark to see what I'm talking about. P.S. I found some for less than $100 and is shipped from Canada. Bonus!
Good Wednesday Doug! The stove looks awsome, light weight, portable and good for the camping! It may tip over accidentaly, maybe a good idea putting two big rocks on the base of the legs! 👍🏕
Nice Doug, I have enjoyed my winter camping for sure. i am just making a canvas tipi, and will use my 5 man arctic bell tent this winter with my woodstove. Have used a Great West Steel 99.00 stove that lasted 2 very intense hunting seasons and winters in my 12x14 prospector tent. If yo u decide to use a spark arrester stay away from anything that goes in the pipe and use a mesh over it instead. Nice stove for sure and nice setup Doug...cheers Fred
Super cool setup! I always am interested in how gear works, it inspires new ideas and definitely sets the stage for whats to come with some winter camping! Nice video Doug, I laughed out loud when ya hit the swing set 😂 I like the music time lapse and when you just do chipmunk voice fast forward more than just cutting it out or redoing it more abbreviated. It was like hanging out with a friend sharing in their excitement for their new toy watching this video for me. Maybe I'm just watching more closely but I've seen a positive mood flow into your recent videos and I enjoy them as much as ever. Just wanna give some good feedback and encourage you to keep just being you. That's what makes the videos special, those honest real moments like when ya cough/sneezed while talking, it gave a feeling of commonality and not missing anything via editing. Little things like that bring the video from "gear review" to a more immersive relatable experience, that's easy to get into even if it's just a test in the back yard. I'm so excited for the first trip Doug, I'm sure you are as well. Thx for sharing, keep up the great work and be well!
I wish I could go on a winter trip with a hot tent in the future. We don't have winters cold enough here. But it looks awesome Doug. Very nice stove and tent.
Nice stove Doug, looks like a good setup with your tent. With the heat shields it could produce a little more BTU's. Can't wait when you go camping, especially with Joe. I'm sure he's going to have some comments. LOL I'm looking forward to some winter camping videos.
Very well explained...I always wanted one of those stoves for winter camping...Now that I reside in Tampa Bay Florida I don’t think I’ll need one...Some people put a thin peace of steel in the bottom of stove....I no it’s more weight but it’s to protect the bottom of stove...⛺️🔥😋
Like the video... and it makes sense to try this at home and not be sorry later....should do a few more reviews. People like this and it helps them decide what they want!
Looking forward to the winter camping videos. I've wanted to try winter camping forever. But non of my friends are willing and i haven't been brave enough to try to solo it haha. I really do like that stove design, would be nothing worse than ending a winter camping trip early because of serious burns

Thx for sharing, keep up the great work and be well!
thanks man i appreciate the nice feedback
I'm liking this stove! I find the shape of it appealing! Different shape than I'm used to seeing people use for these stoves.

Nice Stove and a Nice Tent Doug, thanks for sharing. :)
This was a really fun gear video. You should do more of these!
I wish I could go on a winter trip with a hot tent in the future. We don't have winters cold enough here. But it looks awesome Doug. Very nice stove and tent.
I really liked this video, great to see the test run and a cup of joe!
Very nice love the stove fits awesome tent is awesome as well. thanks for sharing Doug
Saw this on instagram and was hoping you would do a video on it. I'm looking forward to seeing you out there this winter with it. Great video.
Really, really enjoyed this video, I try not to miss any of your videos, thanks for sharing!
Great video loved your excitement over your new stove.
That looks awesome! Love your enthusiasm! You are so FUN!! :) Peace and Good Fortune to you and your family!
I love your "show and tells" Dough! you on the swing had me dyin, your sense of humor is great.

Great video, as usual.
Like the video... and it makes sense to try this at home and not be sorry later....should do a few more reviews. People like this and it helps them decide what they want!
I've been looking at Canvas tents and a stove. Thanks for the upload. This helps me, I'm sure many others. Great video.
You made me excited with your excitement, great feel good video. 👍very informative
Nice setup Doug!!! Looks like some winter fun is in the future...
Looking forward to the winter camping videos. I've wanted to try winter camping forever. But non of my friends are willing and i haven't been brave enough to try to solo it haha. I really do like that stove design, would be nothing worse than ending a winter camping trip early because of serious burns
Well done,Nice stove and I love the Tent,Should be lots of Fun, Enjoy Doug...
nice stove Doug looks like it should do the trick I look forward to your first snow camping trip all the best Danial
Yes Doug that was definitely a great show and tell two thumbs up
Enjoyed the video. I think a "show and tell" video like this 4-5 times a year would be awesome.
