Born and raised in SF, and it so sad to see how much the city has declined. The glamour of big city is dead, and I never go downtown. Thank you for the tour!
oh what memories. the 80s, 90s, 2000s chillin on the tops of embarc in summer, and during this time of year restaurants booked up with office holiday parties. happy hours. so weid to see empty. thank you for these tours.
I lived in SF 2004-2009 and I used to explore like you do. I miss it sometimes... Take us on a tour of Japan Town !
Japantown Center i’ve already done. It’ll be out in a few days
@@901cali I grew up in that area, so looking forward to it. I miss my hometown; thank you for the tours!
Even empty, looks beautiful.
The Hyatt at the embarcadero. Use to have a circular restaurant at the top. Just before New Years my parents would take us to the top for dinner. A family tradition. The hotels Christmas lights were spectacular!
I love the sounds of the birds on the balcony there. Early evening and so empty of humans its weird. Have a good nite, we love you
Cannot thank you enough for these tours! Keep them coming! Cheers! 😊🏆
Thanks for the tour Jermaine! Watching from Southern Humboldt, Redwoods and Cannabis!
Born and raised in SF and can't believe how bad it is now. Moved to Portland last year, aint much better here either. The problem is rampant crime in all the major cities across the US and combined with the pandemic keeps people away.
I used to walk here to eat lunch almost every day in 2000 when I worked on Spear and Howard.
Great video ! It was like this last time I was in SF March 2020 and lock down started that week. Earlier, many shops and offices had already closed. From Chinatown to the Hyatt, I had the whole streets and the Embarcadero to myself!
I lived here my whole life and I never been to the 2nd or third level of Embarcadero. Cool video 😎👍
That’s what I like about this channel. He takes things to the next level. 😎
Damn bro that was literally the walk I used to take on my lunch break - I used to get upset be there was sooooo many people everywhere I went and that was the only place I could go to have a bit of quiet time 👍🏽
This time of day it's feels scary to see
Wonderful video Jermaine, I actually enjoy all your videos around San Francisco. I grew up in SF in the 60's and I actually delivered Miller beer to all those places in the Embarcadero Center in the late 70's thru 1990. Brings back cool memories. San Francisco was a very vibrant and different City back then. I guess the pandemic has just totally changed the City. Anyway, stay safe brother 👍
Life is so different now. Companies will never place workers back in offices. Too costly.
The real estate, maintenance, rents, utilities, water, heat, cafeterias, etc.
I took a bus and train everyday into the city to work for years. Crowded as hell, but made friends along the way.
Miss those days.
I can’t disagree. But won’t that hurt the economy? All these empty buildings with no traffic or income? :(
@@theshark84724 The employees still work, just out of their own homes. But , yes the businesses that suffer are the surrounding ones: dry cleaners, restaurants serving lunch, retail stores. Less people in the city means these places are hurting. I know a man whose dry cleaning shop closed after 30 years. No customers.
I visited SF in 1979 and went to the Hyatt Regency Hotel at the Embarcadero, it was St Patrick’s Day and they were serving green cocktails.
The hotel was fancy at this time as the interior was a fast open plan design which seemed to be built inside out. My. First visit to the U.S from London . Great memories.
So eerie, felt like walking through an old cod map!
I like these videos you're pumping out of you walking around. I haven't been to SF in a very long time but watching these videos makes me feel as if I would be familiar with the city if I visited again
Take us a tour of Seacliff! It’s a nice area
Jermaine, you should make a video about what you predict the city will look like in 2022!
Those centers never were as busy as one might expect except for some very popular restaurants, maybe a nightclub or bar or two, and the theater. Maybe the place was more lively at lunch; I don't know. I suspect part of the reason might be the Union Square has been the retail center of San Francisco for years and years going pack to a time when Kearny Street was considered to be the center of downtown and few large office buildings or restaurants had been built past Sansom. People even came from Los Angeles and other areas equally distant to enjoy shopping at the exclusive department stores and fine clothing shops.
The Embarcadero center was built sometime in the early 1970’s I believe and designed by renown Architect John Portman. The retail areas are nice but not very inviting to draw people in. It seems a bit cold so no wonder nobody goes there. I remember being there many times years ago, and even then, there weren’t many people there. The only building I like is the Hyatt Regency hotel with its open atrium. The hotel atrium was used as a filming location for Towering Inferno movie from the early 1970’s. If the center is to become successful, it will need a major renovation.
I was just thinking about this place I use to go to movies there on top they hade chevys restaurant there to on top .that place should be very busy and it looks like it not crazy I have lots story’s about that place.. thanks for video homie. 😎
Funny to think when I was roaming around those Embarcaderos 1 2 3 4 you were not even born yet!
So little traffic! How do these spaces make any money? (Hint: THEY DON'T!)
I don't live in S.F., and I've only walked through that center. It never had many people in it when I've been. I've just thought of it as a place where office workers have lunch or shop, and when they're gone not much else happens. :/
The Great Resignation. Very eery
The really nice happening hangout places Friday night Saturday night type of joints do you have any of those videos thank you
Man been to SanFrancisco ALOT didn’t know about Embarcadero center ,well now I do !
I enjoy your videos . I use to work in the city
Me too
It's Christmas shopping season. It should be packed. So sad.
WOW factor this is telling these businesses are pretty much done
Wow what a ghost town so sad
I will have to visit this shopping center! Very well kept up and completely clean except for the pizza box.
Do you have plans to go up to the Salesforce building's observation deck?
Yo yo yo, enjoying these videos.
Thanks
Sad state of affairs San Francisco. I’ll be surprised if anyone comes back. Peoples minds have checked out of the strict mandates cities. Workers won’t be back. They’ve made a killing trading bitcoin and stocks.
I love balconies specially the ones that wrap all the way around your apartment they still have some in the city they nicest shit to
Was the movie theatre still open, did you walk by that? Also, when's your next live stream?
That was my drag queen name: ‘Miss Sin in Action!´ 😂🤣 (Ms. Sin In Action, circa 1995 - current). : (@ 35 seconds)
I remember telling you a while ago that will be going wherever we want without a mask you’re lucky you can do that because there’s nobody around
The Embarcadero is suppose to be busy during the Holidays. The buildings are suppose to light up in line with the buildings. Sadly this is now a place where you just don't know if the criminals are hiding behind walls and ready to rob you. People no longer feel safe when it's dark in SF. Anyway, keep up the "ghost town" walks if you dare.
This worries TF out of me :(
Even without Covid this was inevitable. Office rents are high and cloud computing is cheap. Reliable and feasible remote work has been possible since 2015, and now is fully the norm. I don't see downtowns coming back, perhaps as high-density residential areas, but never as office districts. What will this mean for tier-one cities like SF, who knows, but the 2020s will not be kind to the world's leading financial/tech hubs.
You can hear the cherry headed conure parrots in the background at that redlight shot.
harborview is kicking....
🔥🔥🔥💖💖💖
Wow. What a damn shame.
Where IS everyone???!!!
Is the movie open?
I think so
creepy quite
How long until it’s lively again?
Never
@@GSM92 until they throw those corrupt democrats out on their “a r ces”
@@cherp7522 that's never going to happen
@@cherp7522 and replace them with who? Republicans? I think both parties need to be put in check for the shit they pull.
@@Linkbetweenus27 Both party have their flaws, but the republicans are not making policy or laws for this area are they? And if you follow strong republican run counties they do not make these type of dumb policies that lead to chaos and criminal supremacy!!! Correct? So vote in true patriots and you will come back and come back fast. The coast is beautiful!!!! Too bad crooks are selling the citizens out for globalist billionaire money.
Looks like an airport
So sad really.
What’s up ? It’s so disappointing I know what you mean I can hear it in your voice
So quiet. Depressing. You need to break out in song Jellis. Put some Dance moves together. Get a speaker. Make your own entertainment.
