YEah! Holy cow where ARE we? Could be so many great neighborhoods all over the world. Really gives us a VERY different angle on SF. Thanks for the peaceful walk around . We love you. Blessings in 2022 Jermaine

I could look at beautiful architecture and landscaping all day. I prefer older houses too, and these look like they may be from the 20’s and 30’s. Very Art Deco, Spanish, and Old Hollywood style. Thanks for sharing!
Edited to add : I live in a modest version of this neighborhood, right outside a huge city in the Northeast. One of the reasons we bought the house is because of how quiet and tranquil everything felt as soon as we got out of our cars in the driveway. I love that you noticed the feeling of the neighborhood, and how peaceful everything was there. It’s something that’s hard to miss, but when it’s profound, it really makes an impact.

Jermaine, your my favorite! The things you say are so insightful. I’m just sitting around in Orlando but you make me feel like I live in SF, which is great because our son now lives near Haight-Ashbury. We can just tune in to your channel, see what the weather’s like and feel like we’re sorta living near our son! Thank you! We’ll visit him in April and make a point of looking for you videoing the streets of SF!😀

Stern Grove’s free summer concerts. Can’t best listening to great free concerts picnicking with a bunch of friends. Wine cheese sandwiches pot. SF is so beautiful. Ending the afternoon with a run on the beach. Foggy beach. Exhilarating.

I was a student at UCSF during the mid 90's and I would frequently make my way from the Inner Sunset where I lived to Portola and eventually to Stonestown Mall to shop. I would drive through and explore the St Francis Wood neighborhood and West Portal area occasionally. I always loved that area. Thanks for this video...it took me down memory lane.

That’s where I grew up!! That was the empire theater and my grandfather owned it when I was a kid! Yes NO ONE goes to that fountain lol. Those are 100 year old houses. I feel bad that I lived there and took it for granted…it’s really very pretty…I never even went up to that upper fountain in the 70s other then to smoke pot with my teenage friends 😌 we never even realized where we were! Even in the 70s you smelled pee south of market which was at the time a scary place to go. Downtown and the financial district were always different then my residential neighborhood…but every big city is like that….you have downtown and not downtown.

    Wow Jermaine...
You scrolling thru my Elementary School hood there... West Portal, that's just above the tunnel there.
    Back in 1969-72.
Lots of memories as a kid. Seems like yesterday. How time flies!
AWESOME POST! Last time I was in that hood was in the 1981... when we went to go see a movie. There used to be a movie theater there.
    AWESOME POST!

Ohhhh my favorite SF area except for weather. Had an apt on west portal avenue above karate USA. Now a record store. It was such a cozy apt and so much fun joining the classes downstairs. Who would have thought an apt complete with kitchen at the back of the store front. Great produce store a few blocks down. Next door Simi women’s clothing. Still there when I was there two years ago. We would talk for hours. Great saki at the corner Fuji restaurant. Thanks for walking west portal!!!!!!!!!

I had temporary work in West Portal with their local schools. The people who you come across are extremely polite, but they won't invite you up to their house cup of tea. (ha, ha, ha) The Walgreens and Good Will is nice. And the library is nice, I don't know if it is open.

Oh man thanks for this. I was an international student in 98, and arrived in SF after the classes had already started. I had a hard time finding a place to live and ended up renting a room from an older lady in St. Francis Wood. She was one of the wisest human beings I’ve ever met. It was a drag to go downtown every day as the neighborhood is off the grid. But certainly beautiful and distinguished.

Most wealthy neighborhoods everywhere in the world are quiet like this one. Noise and lots of people walking outside lowers their property values. Bro, you have plenty of nerve walking with a camera in the middle of the streets in this neighborhood. I'm expecting a Brad or Karen to ask you what you are doing there. Lmao!

Such a peaceful and beautiful walk through St. Francis Wood, thanks. Another nearby neighborhood of equal charm is Forest Hill. San Francisco is so much more than downtown or the well known tourist spots. Note however that the California desert around Palm Springs has the only native palms in the continental U.S. All in Florida, Hawaii or coastal California were planted. Keep showing us areas of the city that add to the true allure of San Francisco. Stay safe and have a happy new year!
