this scene's so incredible after having seen the whole show and knowing the pieces, didn't have the same impact the first time since it was so early and we knew basically nothing.
having seen most of the series myself. what would you say the scene was about?. going back and seeing this scene it felt like I knew exactly what the scene was about. The color scheme of their clothes (ben and justin) clearly indicating the battle between light and dark thats building. The two men walking in the diner behind them indicated to me that this battle is much larger, older than them and has been going on for perhaps hundreds of years. through their ancestory and perhaps further.
I'm not discounting your take. However, it also shows the alignment (the houses) of each prophet. You'll notice that Lucius sits behind ben and Scudder sits behind Justin. It might also be implied that the older prophets know who each other are and they understand what they are facing.
RC M - nice takes on that scene - what an amazing show, a tragedy that it was cancelled so soon, but lucky we got what we got. And here I was just to listen to the song.. "I remember you.." .. but wait no that song was when.. oh yeah.. ;)

The best tv show that ever created. Oz is the second. Only two seasons but all characters the spider weblike story and the ending of season 2. Absolutely perfect.
I like the use of the mirror in this scene. It adds to the moral ambiguity that is present throughout the series. Even though Ben's powers come from Management(the Light) he has elements of Scudder(the Dark) in him. Vice versa for Justin.
Nick Stahl as Ben Hawkins, Clea Duvall as Sofie, Amy Madigan as Sister Iris and Clancy Brown as Brother Justin Crowe are THE ANCESTORS of Gary Cole as Sheriff Lucas Buck and Lucas Black as Caleb Temple.
Good explanation @ TheRagingNerd. I look at Justin the same way I look at Scudder. Scudder, somehow, managed to neglect that side of himself (and in the show you see flashbacks of him doing ceremonies and things). Justin, maybe, could have chosen to be one more scaredy-cat nobody in a long line, but Justin.. just couldn't quite do it. I think he had good in him, but he was not quite willing to let it all go, burn his face off and hide, and be afraid.
Nope, not all dead, It appears at the end of the final episode, Ben will live, Sophie heals Justin, therefore, a few questions are left, however, such as, if Justin lives is he still an avatar?, does Ben have to fight him again? Did he use the right dagger?, I remember from a previous episode Appolonia wrote on a mirror that Sophie was the Omega, meaning the last, or end, the show should have continued.
Daniel Knauf(Carnivale's creator/writer) did an interview with AV Club last year. He explained where he had intended to go with the shows finale after 4 seasons, check it out, very interesting.
isn't this scene just genous? ben and justin and their predecessors and fathers. Only ben's father; justin's predecessor and justin's father is ben's predecessor. and they are toasting? i wonder if show would have go on, we ever would able to see ben and justin as drinking pals?
The single most underrated show HBO ever created.
Amazing man.. just finished it..
yes!
What a show this was
all these years later, it still best show.

True blood received 7 seasons yet Carnivale, Rome and Deadwood got cancelled due to costs!

Ben would have powers regardless of what happened to Belyakov. The only thing that changed after his boon was that Justin suffered when Ben healed.
Iconic scene
Love the Hopperesque style.
Before Daniel Knauf's CARNIVALE ,
there was Shaun Cassidy's AMERICAN GOTHIC.
Nick Stahl as Ben Hawkins, Clea Duvall
as Sofie, Amy Madigan as Sister Iris and Clancy Brown as Brother Justin Crowe are THE ANCESTORS of Gary Cole as Sheriff Lucas Buck and Lucas Black as Caleb Temple.
CARNIVALE GOTHIC

Its pretty sad that movies and tv have been getting progressively worse over the past 15 years. i miss the old HBO :(
The show is amazing.. i can't put it into words but the show brings a certain feeling to the soul.. like memories from old summer nights..

IS the soldier justin's father or management when he was young.?
VC YT
Justin's father IS management.
VC YT
Justin's father IS management.
Both
so.. they all dead?
Sofie is Jesus. In Revelations Jesus proclaims "I am the Alpha and the Omega..." All Avatars are in the Blood line of Jesus.
She's just The Omega, not both.
Cody Walters actually shes the diametric opposite of jesus, shes the antichrist
... KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Sophie is the Omega. She's the antichrist. Read literally anything about the show.
But night time is my time...
isn't this scene just genous?
Could've been a great series but it was filled with so much off the wall, bullshit filler from the writers...it never had a direction.
