Halibut Fishing - West Side of the Island

  • In this video, we tried something different. We traveled to the west side of the island where the weather would be better for fishing. The fishing was super slow over in Viekoda Bay, not sure if it was because of sand fleas eating or bait or if the area was recently fished. So we traveled north to Marmot Bay, it wasn't crazy fishing but we were pleased with the outcome.
    Thanks for watching!

    Thank you so much for the boat ride. I am a 74 year old in Australia who have always loved deep sea fishing. Now unfortunately confined to home due to ill health and restrictions imposed by Covid-19 I watch every one of your shows and reminiscence on what could have been if I could be a crew member of your vessel. May you always enjoy pleasant weather. You are the most beautiful family. God bless

    Family EIS Alaska I would like to say thank you. Your channel is one of the most wholesome channels I watch here. "Independence' "Hardwork" "Family" "Harvest" and
    "Peaceful existence." I grew up in the swamps of Louisiana; and grand parents, parents worked fishing, crabbing and hunting gators. I live in the city now; Who would think I would miss the water so much that I would sit here watching you fish for hours on end. That's why I say I honestly appreciate you sharing your lives with people like me.

The weather and your ride out reminds me of growing up on the coast when the storms were coming in . I loved going down to the beach and feeling energized by the power it creates... Would it be possible sometime for you to show us on a map where you usually fish and where you went this time, perhaps showing your route as you headed out west? Also what makes a good fishing ground? Is it down to depth, sea bed topography? Thanks as always for sharing with us.

    I think the picture and sound on your equipment did just fine. My main concern is for you to be safe while making a decent living. Always a good day when you drop a new video, and especially a fishing video. I saw a video the other day where someone from Florida was catching sand fleas. I didn't watch it, so I don't know what she was going to do with them. There are just way to many Florida fishing videos to choose from so I skip quite a few. I do like watching The Galeforce Twins, and my other saltwater fishing favorite is from Cornwall GB, The Fishlocker. I don't miss any videos that you 3, and then a farmer/cattleman in South Dakota and a farmer/sheep operation in Ontario. I really look forward to new videos and feel like I really understand your values and ethics. Other than that I mostly search for cooking videos or how to videos. And documentaries!!

      Thanks for the comment, Barbara! I love your range of video theme, we watching quite a variety of stuff on TH-cam as well. Surprisingly not many fishing videos, but farming, boat projects, some homesteaders, lots of how-to and tutorials. Definitely a great place to learn.

      I now have a must-see off grid family in Arizona "Tiny Shiny Home" an off grid couple in Alaska, "Simple Living Alaska" I think with Eric and Ariel Illia. And a vegetable farm "Veggie Boys" in Pennsylvania, and "Smash Fishing" on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all of the new videos when I'm in the hospital. But I catch up when they bring me my tablet.

    I know almost nothing of fishing really. But a question did arise. Why are you not aloud to set your lines out over night? I got why you don't haul in dark you don't have the lighting for it. Light flashing beacon's with GPS could assist in finding your strings. If you had the lighting could you fish at night?

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We can soak overnight, but we prefer not to. The sand fleas are voracious and would gobble anything up in a "hot" zone; an area with increased flea activity. Hauling in the dark isn't bad but our lighting isn't the best - could use a couple more deck lights.

    I notice a lot of commercial fishermen wear cotton poly hoodies I thought cotton was a big no-no you know cotton kills or is it okay in this situation?

      No worries! We were in a rush to beat the tide at Whale Pass, didn’t have time to tidy up. A short time later it was rocking and rolling, I did clean up after we were in calm waters. Thanks Captain Tim!
