Alan Thompson Jr performs ragtime in 4k UHD 2160p ultra high definition at Disneyland. Alan and Stan starts the show performing "It's a Small world" on four hand piano. Alan knocks out Ragtime standards and his amazing version of Boogie Woogie, including PineTop Boogie. Later, he treats his audience to the Haunted Mansion song. To mix it up, Daper Dans plays alongside Ragtime Alan and then Musical Chairs.
I know this video is 10 years old by now (which is crazy to think about since I used to listen to this over and over as a kid), but does anyone know what the piece starting at 16:55 is? Also does anyone know if Alan still plays at Disneyland? I'd love to meet him, but I've never seen him there before.

+Garrett McLean Some people aren't huge fans of this type of music; they like it, but don't love it like we do. I play it in the car; and initially, they start to move to the music. But after a while, it seems like they get tired of it and want to listen to something else. I'm like that with country music. I can handle about half an hour. Then I want something else, anything else.

I gave up after hearing him play "Maple Leaf Rag" at twice the speed that it should be played.

+davehshs It annoyed me at first as well, but keep in mind that Main Street USA, where this performance takes place, is an interpretation of the time period, not a realistic depiction. The piano music is really only a part of the overall ambiance as you are waiting in line for food or are passing by.
It's only boring to people who have been used to hearing all Ragtime played fast, which is NOT the way the composer, Scott Joplin, played it.

I've heard that Maple Leaf Rag is the most requested/played song on the Disneyland piano. He's probably bored from playing it so many times. It seemed like he was basically challenging himself to play it as fast as he could. Perhaps he just wants to get it out of the way to play something he finds more interesting?

It's intended to sound like an old honky tonk/ragtime piano, so of course it's not going to sound like a top quality concert grand. It's not supposed to, and that's fine. But thank you for your expert opinion, professor.
