As a casual, the pre-built format of Speed Duel products was the ideal way to enjoy them. I loved playing with skill cards, building double-up character themed decks and simply enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh. I really hope they continue releasing them.
It's great for casual and the lack of sales isn't 100% on consumers either, Konami needs to market the sets and format better too. Hopefully this set does well when on shelves

A big issue as to why it’s not selling well is the don’t really advertise speed duels. They don’t give new players/old players as to why speed duels is a great new, refreshing way to play Yugioh whilst keeping it classic.
I don’t think they’ll even do 5ds the reason speed duel started is to bring old players back because around the time 5ds started it was to complicate so they quit so they might not even do 5ds

I think an issue is, is that Battle City speaks to nostalgia. Having a box that has (to a casual fan) random GX characters isn't going to appeal to a wide enough audience. I mean, I for one am excited about Vampire Genesis ScR and seeing character decks, but that's just me. I do think Synchros would be a great addition if you consider how well 5D's did for the TCG's popularity.
You're probably right in saying that, GX seems to have the least appeal but HEROS and CyDra are very popular decks so on the other side they could have done it better
I would be very surprised if Konami didn’t bring a 5D’s speed duel box. I really think that one would sell. Synchro support would really have more veterans join as well as change up the meta AND still be easy for newish players to continue learning yugioh in a smaller format. Idk why it wouldn’t sell unlike the others.

love the video! You touched on some valuable points about the contents of the new box not having enough draw factor for the other formats, especially when many of the secrets are already very low-cost staples in advanced.
I like this format so much because it is the perfect way to introduce new duelist and old school players come back to the game. It is easier than the TCG-Master Duel and even Duel Links. Personally, I don't love enough the current game and its abusive mechanics, omni negators, hand traps or the massive spam of monsters. The GX Duel Academy Box was blessing to me because it had the first cards I had when I was a kid, but they weren't the originals but the bootleg cards that were sold here in my country (Peru) by street sellers outside the schools xD
Today konami annouce officialy a new box coming in august and the creator of speed duel say they would like to release every 5 month . its gonna be battle city 2.0 and i think konami was just trying to reach some people with GX but at the end i think the all concept of speed duel should be play around the nostalgia for the most of people i know who played speed duel they are all asking one thing bring back the OG yugioh .the format is perfect to play in this way . Thats nice to see a future more brighter for Speed duel , the TCG is good and verrry nice they have everything tto be great but for some people like me its nice to be in our ''old roots'' and i think konami need to feed those type of people. Team APS post a pretty nice video lately about this issue with konami and its community. From now on i think they gonna grow with all of type of players. Well, now we have the latest GX box with production moving from EU to US. As a speed duel player, this is quite disappointing because fron what I heard, Speed products really sold well in Europe. So will this be the final product for Speed format or it will be continued only within US borders? I mean it makes no sense to loose money by implementing such restrictions, especially that Midterm distruction box already warped the meta.

Speed duel being built for casual play is fine but even the casual play side is done un-optimally imo. They should be appealing to HEROs, Cyber Dragon, Rainbow Dragon, etc. instead they made Volcanic Burn good, HEROs unplayable, and a version of Crystal Beasts that can't use Rainbow Dragon. Hopefully this set does well and caters towards Evil HEROs and Red-Eyes well because that is what would sell
i quit yugioh some years ago, and rn i'm only buying into speed duels, mostly bacause of the nice nostalgia pickups, even planning to maybe make a draft cube out of it (big fan of singleton formats). and there's so much more unexplored potential, and it's a shame that it's showing they are holding back to keep it as balanced and low powered as possible to not make the format explode in obvious metadecks (which it kinda is atm because there isnt enough tools given to the players to expand the format) we are so close to yubel, winged kuriboh lv10, light and darkness dragon, arcana force, and many more iconic and interesting characters and decks that can shine for once in a specifically balanced format for the nostalgia players. GX sets in the past where probably some of the weakest around at the time and 5d's flipped that upside down and those characters and archtetypes are super beloved by the community as well blackwing, junk,morphtronic,plants, red dragon resonators, the earthbound immortals,six samurai,.... i hope you are wrong in saying its the end, and it does feel like konami isn't planning to put as much more effort in this format, but i sure want to keep up hope for this format.
You know, there is still possibility that they will concentrate entirely on casual players and for example re-release preGX starter decks and boosters as boxes.
I am noticing kind of a "story theme/arc" possibly here, I have a feeling they will do another battle city box after "streets" it might be either "semi-finals" or "finals" after that, I am actually hoping they go real old school and do the "Duelist Kingdom" arc.
I hope they are deciding to discontinue speed duels in favor of trying to give us Rush Duel products. I personally would rather have Rush Duel. Just my opinion.

They need to go back to the root with no xyz, no link summon, no synchro summon. Only then players willl go back. The basic yugioh deck is enough for people to enjoy it. I feel like fusion is the most fun than synchro summon🤣🤣🤣

C'mon bro! that box cannot be the end! because if they do it, they will be loosing a great oportunity on 5DS Reprints, because yo can have 3 formats with the Product! TCG, Time Wizard Edison Format and Speed Duel! lets hope they reveal it when DUELING NEXUS the First Set of the New Yugioh Season is Announced.
I hope it's not the end, but the signs aren't great but positivity is good to hold onto especially if this set sells well
It's not the end, there's another Duel Monsters themed box coming out later this year, I think curseof just jumped the gun on calling this lol
Well, now we have the latest GX box with production moving from EU to US. As a speed duel player, this is quite disappointing because fron what I heard, Speed products really sold well in Europe. So will this be the final product for Speed format or it will be continued only within US borders? I mean it makes no sense to loose money by implementing such restrictions, especially that Midterm distruction box already warped the meta.

Speed duels is built for casual play. The heavy focus on meta everyone naturally leans towards, is what is ultimately slowly strangling the game as konami continues printing new era theme cards for the sake of progression.
When simply put they could have made some new Duel Monster packs to help introduce cards that never existed In the tcg before every 6 to 9 months or so like this list here..

Speed duel being built for casual play is fine but even the casual play side is done un-optimally imo. They should be appealing to HEROs, Cyber Dragon, Rainbow Dragon, etc. instead they made Volcanic Burn good, HEROs unplayable, and a version of Crystal Beasts that can't use Rainbow Dragon. Hopefully this set does well and caters towards Evil HEROs and Red-Eyes well because that is what would sell
As a casual, I'm not a fan of the idea to re-introduce Speed Duel packs. I certainly wouldn't buy them!

i quit yugioh some years ago, and rn i'm only buying into speed duels, mostly bacause of the nice nostalgia pickups,
even planning to maybe make a draft cube out of it (big fan of singleton formats).
and there's so much more unexplored potential, and it's a shame that it's showing they are holding back to keep it as balanced and low powered as possible to not make the format
explode in obvious metadecks (which it kinda is atm because there isnt enough tools given to the players to expand the format)
we are so close to yubel, winged kuriboh lv10, light and darkness dragon, arcana force, and many more iconic and interesting characters and decks that can shine for once in a specifically balanced format for the nostalgia players.
GX sets in the past where probably some of the weakest around at the time and 5d's flipped that upside down and those characters and archtetypes are super beloved by the community as well

and it does feel like konami isn't planning to put as much more effort in this format,

You know, there is still possibility that they will concentrate entirely on casual players and for example re-release preGX starter decks and boosters as boxes.
Re-releasing would be an interesting approach, would be good for new players but would hurt the existing player base a lot
I bet they will, we are still missing a bunch of older cards, they could easily release a Joey/Kaiba/Yugi "structure deck" and sell well

I am noticing kind of a "story theme/arc" possibly here, I have a feeling they will do another battle city box after "streets" it might be either "semi-finals" or "finals" after that, I am actually hoping they go real old school and do the "Duelist Kingdom" arc.
I hope they are deciding to discontinue speed duels in favor of trying to give us Rush Duel products. I personally would rather have Rush Duel. Just my opinion.

They need to go back to the root with no xyz, no link summon, no synchro summon. Only then players willl go back. The basic yugioh deck is enough for people to enjoy it. I feel like fusion is the most fun than synchro summon🤣🤣🤣
