Thank you Chris! Actually I consider Barbieri to be a hero! Never seen him use a Poly-61 or any Korg though. I really like his sounds and playing on the Prophet.
@@rimela youre a great composer bro and very original! my cats loved this, big regards from Australia, my next purchase! thanks its a very sweet colourful alive machine...
So talented.. sounds better than me with a modern PC and MODX. Goes to show how much we forget about talent. Sounds like something from the original blade runner. very emotional.
Thanks, I'm very flattered. Still, it is fair to say that the sound of analog synthesizers, but especially the limitations, play an important role. Sound can be approached more and more digitally, but an important tool in both composition and playing an instrument is to set limits on yourself. Limitation boosts creativity. With some discipline, this will certainly work with a MODX, in which the possibilities are virtually unlimited. Use only a limited subset at a time.
Triggering the Poly-61 you mean? I think it’s because Korg uses a so-called ‘S-trigger’ and not the ‘V-trigger’ with which you can use a trigger signal from one of the audio outputs on your MPC. With a signal processor you could convert a any voltage level into an S trigger. I do this a lot to be able to sync Korg gear, using the signal processor in my modular setup. Without that, I would think that Kenton has the box you need for converting MIDI clock to S-trigger. Hope this helps.
@@rimela Yea, same with my Akai AX-60. Both take S-Trig, but are you saying an MPC cannot send S-Trig signals? That would make sense, I’ll try and get some way to convert it. Amazing job on this video by the way, nothing else like it and it really shows the potential of the Poly-61.
Thanks! Interesting you associate it with the Jupiter 8. Don't have the 8 but I do have a 6, which is quite different from the P61, probably to the 8 as well.
It doesn't sound like the Jupiter 8 at all in my opinion. J-8 sound is very precise and punchy. This one sounds more "liquid" and "chewy". In fact, it reminds me of the Memorymoog somehow. With a tiny bit of PPG Wave 2.2 over it
@@MacXpert74 Perhaps you right. JX-3p sounds more jp-8 (ish) than P61 does. From the demos I prefer the p61 tone than JX for that retro feel. JP-8 has VCO discrete components. JX-3p is pure dco's and digital clock. P61 is traditional DCO1 & DCO2 is digitally derived OSC with analog clock for both.
Sure, send me an e-mail. I’ll make a WAV for you. Though I remember not saving several sounds I made in the moment for this video, there a some good ones I did save. The data WAV file itself is also fun to listen to 😆
@@rimela Hey Rimela, I've been a little busy with things would it be possible to send me those patches? I can provide my mail if you would care to do so
Are these your own custom patches or factory presets? I have 3 Poly 61. One is original and the other two have been modded with midi. My favourite synth of all time.
The best Poly-61 demo on TH-cam, hands down. So musical and well done, not just boring arpeggiator noodling. Good job!
Thank you very much!
That is by far the cleanest 61 I have ever seen! Still looks like new.
Still quite unappreciated synth with actually amazing tone and sound. Awesome demonstration!
Thanks!
this is so Barbieri! only more underground really arty techno. thanks for the excellent vibes bro, your a gun!

Wauw 🤩 that sounds good!!!!!!
Great presentation! The synth sounds sweet.
Thanks!
I just got Poly61 and listened a lot of Poly Demos on YT and this one is the best! So many different styles and very inspiring 😊 I love 5:59 part
Thank you very much!
And enjoy you Poly-61. It’s a hidden gem.
Really a well done demo. The programs are very good, I have a 61 from1982 and still it surprises me sometimes
Thanks!
What a beautiful compositions.
Thank you 🙏
delicious synth! i ve got also mine last year restaurated and MIDI applied!
Very nice! Might midify mine someday...

Sounds better than a 106.
OK, you got me.
Subbed.
Nice!
congratulations for your style of music and for how you programmed the Poly 61, synth which was my first synth and I still have :-) ciao
Thank you so much Paride!
What a great one to have as your first synth.
man someone tell me why I have such a hard time triggering the arpeggiator from my MPC60

Yes, though I don’t have an MPC, I believe it doesn’t have S trigger out.
Nice listening! p61 got a bit of that raw jupiter 8 vibe going on here.

I think it technically has more in common with the Roland JX-3p. Both are DCO synths with 2 Osc.

Sell me this synthesizer.
