IT'S DRAFT RANKINGS TIME BOYS AND GIRLS! Apologize for it taking so long for the next update, but here's my new top 20! What are YOUR thoughts on MY draft rankings? What do YOU agree & disagree with? And who's YOUR favorite prospect of the draft? Let me know! #GravGang
My top 10: Tier 1: 1. Matt Schaefer 2. Porter Martone 3. Michael Misa 4. James Hagens Tier 2: 5. Roger McQueen 6. Malcolm Spence 7. Logan Hensler 8. Anton Frondell 9. Caleb Desnoyers 10. Victor Eklund
As a Sharks fan and also Djurgården from Sweden, I was so hyped a few years ago when the Sharks selected William Eklund from Djurgården, and just the thought of being able to see them pick his brother Victor too, so they could team up togehter in San Jope, holy smokes that would be so epic! I am a little bit worried though. After the Sharks traded Mackenzie Blackwood, I could see them tanking and being able to select in the top 4, which of course would be good in one way to speed up their rebuilding process, but if thats the case there are probably better players than Victor to select.
I’m finding Misa incredibly interesting as a prospect. Seems to have the skills, isn’t quite as big Martone but much more versatile and has a 200ft game. Kind of Celebrini-lite but a little bigger (although I think so of that height is neck lol)
I have Misa at 1 and Hagens at 4. Not sure about how well Hagens' playstyle will translate to the nhl. very high ceiling but lower floor than the rest. Misa on the other hand is just so smart and good at everything, martone and shaefer too. Have them 3 above Hagens for sure.
I think it depends on who drafts number 1. If it’s a team that feels pretty good with their #1 center I would go for Martone, but if there’s a need at center then I’d go Hagens.
This year reminds me a lot of 2022. Misa-Wright (Both centers that got exceptional status from OHL with great all around game) Martone-Slafkovsky (Both bigger wingers with a great shooting ability) Hagens-Cooley (Both american undersized Centers with a lot of offensive tools) Schaefer-Nemec (Both great offensive D-man that projects to have more of a two way game in the NHL)
My top 10 NHL 2025 draft: 1. Michael Misa (miss for Misa😂) 2. Porter Martone 3. Matthew Schaefer 4. James Hagens 5. Roger McQueen 6. Victor Eklund 7. Caleb Desnoyers 8. Malcolm Spence 9. Anton Frondell 10. Jackson Smith
Eklund is better than his brother was at the same age, he’s similar in technique and skill but has much more lethal shot and is also very good at getting physical although William is a better playmaker but he’s a definitely a top 5 player imo
And he has an insane motor. He’s all over the ice. Stick lifting, using his body even if he’s undersized, creating breakouts, being that line driver. I think he’ll be around that 6th overall range at peoples final ranking
My view too buddy Kid is Insane but to me what's definitly could tell us that he would be better than his older brother is his really High motor if you combine with great playmaking, sneaky good shot and that ability to drive the net effortlessy then you have an Insane future top line winger in the makings..
@BigWiz89 Yea, I'm really hoping that after this year they're not picking top 5 anymore (unless they win the lottery). Would be much happier to see the team make some progress in the standings next year and pick closer to #10.
Lets be real, this year especially the order is going to greatly depend on which teams get the picks. There are some bad teams that really need defensive prospects so I can see Schaefer going first if say San Jose gets the pick.
@@Jmulk96 I agree the skating pace is average but I think the processing speed is fairly high end. I'd agree the playmaking is the standout tool but I think the still level, shot and defense play are all there and considering age I think they could definitely improve. I also thing being young gives more hope for him to fill in which would fix up a lot of the weaknesses.
Martone is the complete package in my opinion . He combines speed , skill , size and gritt . I don’t see him get drafted first but he is my favorite out of the potential top 5 projected players .
I think Aitcheson is super underrated for me he has a much higher offensive ceiling than Emery who I'm also a big fan of but I think Aitcheson could be a 2/3 dman in his prime. I'm a super big fan of his game doesn't really have any major flaws to me and is solid at almost everything along with his great physical and defensive play
Side note I watched Carbonneau when he was a kid in a big tournament I said right there he would one day become an NHL player.I would never take Fiddler in the first round he has no foot speed I don't want another David Savard on my blueline.Fiddler is not even at Mailloux's level and he can't make the Habs roster so yeah he is not even on my radar.
Wow, how Ivan Ryabkin has dropped! It would probably benefit him to come over to the USHL. I still would like to see him playing next to Michkov someday….
Where do you see Ryabkin ending up going? As a hab fan I'd love to sim him fall to the Canadiens 2nd first rounder and potentially create some Russian chem over time with Demidov
Martone, Schaefer or Hagens will seal 1st at the U20's. I don't think Hagens looks impressive enough to put him as more than one of the candidates for 1st, considering his small size and how well the other 3 contenders have been playing. It's a shame Misa won't be there. Unfortunately for Schaefer, Dickinson seems like an impossible road block, so he'll have to settle with at best the 2nd pairing. Martone also have decent competition, but should atleast by default be given a top 6 spot. Hagens will likely play with his college buddies on the US top line, so he's going to be in the best environment for success. But they'll all have to earn the nr 1 spot, and quite likely there will be no agreed upon top 1 pick.
You can’t look at the points In hagens because the game he plays is being a point guy and he plays with the 2 best wingers in college and he’s nothing special good IQ offensively but defensively not really there as much as you think and can’t create offense by himself coming from a big bc fan
@@GravitehHockey I doubt that. This will be their last year of respectability. Crosby is not close to as good as he used to be. Not nearly good enough to keep his aging team competitive.

Do you see anyone in this draft that can come right in and be a star like Celebrini or Bedard?
1. Misa
2.Martone
3.Schaefer
4. Hagens
5. Frondell or any other top 10 prospect. after 4 its all over the place
Eklund is better than Frondell
Schaefer > Martone IMO, but the rest yeah I agree
Hagens at 4 is insane, and I love all 4 of them.
My top 10:

@@Z0raPlus Spence that high seems nuts
Eklund is too low
Agreed that Schaefer should go first. Unrelated, but wild how poor Ryabkin has been when he used to be a Top 10 guy
@@Jmulk96 i value defense and skating A LOT while ranking players and those two are spence's best attributes

Great show! Sharks need another good draft or two.
They need another D and I think they’re set. They’re stacked with prospects going to be a scary team.
Dickinson and Cagnoni are looking awesome, but I agree one more top pair D would be perfect!

Martone is absolutely not fast. He's ok for his size, but whoever told you he has speed is wrong.
Martone would be a below average skater if he entered the NHL tomorrow. What makes him great is his hockey IQ and positioning

The top 4 at this point are a toss up, the order largely depending on the team's needs as there is noto much separating them.
You forgot Cam Schmidt! The kid has blazing speed and a wicked shot! for sure a top 20 pick even if he's only 5'7.
Schaeffer should be like 9 spors ahead of Hensler
Hensler top 5?? Geezus
Yeah there's no way I'm taking such a low ceiling player that high. Might be a very good defensive dman but I just wouldn't be able to justify that.
I don’t know where in the earth you are getting Logan Hensler in the top 5, his Hockey IQ has been the worst I’ve seen
Honestly i think haggens is overrated a bit i would have him 4
agree with ya
If he had 5 more points in the NCAA you wouldn’t say that
Grav has a heavy American bias so with guys like Hensler and hagens take his rankings with a bit of salt
I'm just skeptical on him with that production while playing with Leonard and Perreault. Not impressed.

Martone is slow but power skater with long strides. Have to watch more tape Schafer is offensive challenged. I'm taken Hagens. 1:42
Jackson Smith does things that will put him in the top 3. Eye test is never wrong.
Some players you missed are Andreyanov and Bear. Andreyanov is the best goalie in the draft and Bear has been on a tear this season.
Um, the best goalie is Ivankovic or Joshua Ravensburgen
