I got a used cluster board for the model and make of my car. How i got it to finally work was some fuses i did not see that burnt out, even some relays. =) Hope this helps others too.
Hi. Just wondering if you could tell me what bulbs I require for the ASC, ABS and coolant lights? I need to replace mine, because somebody obviously took them out of the cluster in the past to hide faults. I cannot find any reference to them online unfortunately. It would be a great help if you knew. The only other option I am looking at now is a new cluster.
Mileage is stored in the cluster and the headlight switch, changing either one without syncing them will cause the dot to appear. This happened to to my ex sister-in-law's car when she had the headlight switch replaced under warranty and the dealer forgot to do the sync. After a trip back to the dealer for a sync the dot disappeared.
I'm looking into getting a e39 525i but it's got the odometer so dim that you can hardly read it, what could that be? Is it the silver ribbon or the bulbs behind the lcd are burnt out. how do i change them
nathan i just came a junkyard because i tried to repair my original cluster lmao. i butchered it so badly, i destroyed it, i just tossed it, went to pick and pull and found one, i took that one and that came out of a 99 540i (i have a 2001) but how do i get the cluster to read my actual miles?

Why did you remove steering wheel ? Whats the point of it ? Lower steering wheel lift to the lowest point and there is no problem getting out your intrument cluster.
Did you not watch the video? First thing he said is. “This is a parts car, that’s why the steering wheel is out, you do not need to remove the steering wheel!”

the headlight switch is just a passive switch. it does not store anything thing. the IKE, EWS and DME/DDE stores milage

I found my check engine light, oil light and stability control LED light all broken off and in the cluster. What then where can I buy those?
Facing this issue right now..so do i swap my 01 530 cluster with my 02 525 cluster? Im fraid not...

how about the e39 radio clusters? those go out all the time where you can barely see the number. got a fix?
I have tried to put new ribbons in a few of them but never had any luck getting them to work again
