Skeleton Racing | How They Train | TIME
/ timemagazine
i actually know her in real life and she is the nicest person ever. she actually just won silver in sochi.
Yeah she seems to have a great attitude and personality. To come back from the injury she suffered shows great strength and courage too. 4th at Olympics is certainly no disaster!
man..watched the whole video and didnt get to see the actual run.
But you did get to see a wimp of a man fall on his pee pee, some nice stickers on the bottom of her board, a brief history of how she was hit by a bobsled and broke her leg leading to her ability to predict weather, and a pretty long clip of her technique for entering and exiting corners. If you came here to learn how to train for the Skeleton as the video title implies, you wasted your time. I bet the makers of the video feel all fuzzy and productive inside though.
If I prepared for this like I prepared for my final exams, I would crash.
This was a good video! I'm a skeleton athlete taking a break after an injury, love watching the videos on youtube aha.
Very good video, explained a sport I really didnt get quite well!
Very excited to see Noelle win Gold this year at Sochi! Her story is awesome!
They haven't run yet, How could she win?
valhala56 he is saying that he believes she will win gold.
You can get more Sochi news here: th-cam.com/users/SportsIllustrated
@JohnStecchino Both. At the start you can get a speed advantage, but you won't reach top speed later on if you're not good at steering the sled.
Go Noelle!
1:14 - i see you like to do your exercises on just that particular piece of wooden fence
@ninjalevi i am sorry but i told you wrong she does not use the Uvex helmet , it is actually a Bestie helmet in this video.
props to editor and reporter for nice job
She's the coolest!
wow I never realized how cool this sport is
This looks so cool. I wish I got more into sports when I was younger in elementary school. Now I'm a lazy teenager playing Overwatch.
After she got off my sled she never won again. World Champion at St Morritz on a Parker Sled and then fell to USBSF pressure and never won again.
We have an indoor start track in Calgary with ice :)
what a flimsy fence
She is the nicest person in real life
Cool chick. She came in 4th, but she rocks with that attitude.
Youngest of 8 kids? That's not surprising considering she was born and raised (and still lives) here in Utah :p
who knew they could make planking into an extreme sport?
Thanks for the video!
Aweome video!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you Kyle!
Olympic gold for Lizzie Yarnold WOOOHOOOOO :)
This is something i've been wanting to try for aagggeesss, so going to do it. Thanks for the video
02:35 oooh I LOV3 How cute sh3 is!
im doing a report on her and the sport on skeleton. this vid helped m alot.
skeleton racers are so happy :)
that rail looks fun
@xJG91x Yeah well currently I use a Charly No Limit helmet. It is not a DH specific helmet but it is meant for Paragliding. It is aerodynamic and very light, but it is not too safe. But maybe a helmet specifically for Skeleton would also be light, aero AND safe.
were can I skeleton sled in california. I would really like to see about getting into this, or at least trying it
I am a fast runner so i am going to be in the Winter Olympics or sprinter in the summer 1nsp
Thats what they say when you come out from there "SKELETON AHHH"!!!
Nice reportage
Scaryton !(but the video makes you want to try it(but with brakes!)
Welllllllll, what would you use the brakes for? If you damage the ice anywhere but the finish dock we eat you.
1:07 dat confidence
how do they keep the track frozen when its not winter?
so now if we start planking on a snowboard it might be a new sport!
I wonder which helmets they use for this sport. I want to test how aero they are for downhill skateboarding. It is a lot of the same concepts.
you're paying for that fence you broke lol
does any 1 knows the song? The beginning one with the solos, its awesome...
This Helmets shouldn't be more aerodynamic ? ...... o-o
She doesn't have to lay on that board. I'm free any time.
Its like high speed planking!
Don't watch "How They Train" videos if you don't want to see how they train.
God Speed Noelle
Where was this video filmed?
Lake Placid, New York
@slygirls09 At the end they run into a foam bundle so I guess they don't.
I ISH BACK FROM the land of lost connection!I ISH BACK FROM the land of lost connection!I ISH BACK FROM the land of lost connection!I ISH BACK FROM the land of lost connection!
what kind of helmet does she use??
@Ms360x
preparation for jumpstyle!
planking on high speed!
thats what i was thinking to lol!!
Hi all, I don t know much about this sport. Just to know where the good skill of an athlete are.
Is it in the first launch or also while the skeleton slide along the track?
Driving well is the most important, then it is a tie between a great push and a great sled that you can steer exactly how you want to.
What a great woman!!!!
one of those sports i love to hate =) First you need a multi million dollar track! Then you need a sledge, then a helmet. That's way too many requirements just to play.
planking to the extreme
@lolanimations but whatever, what's skeleton?
Why she use the borken side ?? ^^
What is TH-cam? There's got to be a video of it... Olympics, maybe?
Lmao that warm up is nothing.
I don''t see how it's about You steering the sled, it's more of the Jump start, and the quality of the sled. Yes, but you merely steer.
TH-cam recommendations are weird
@slygirls09 they just wait till they slow down
Skeleton Racing = high speed planking...
@slygirls09
they dig the tips of their toes into the ice :)
Only on a crappy sled that wont steer.
Noelle Pikus would have won Torino even with the broken leg. In training at Torino she was clearly the fastest Daman Skeleton Athlete there. If the USBSF had not screwed it all up and only qualified one female athlete for the USA. It was not Noelle because she missed the first half of the 2005/06 season because of the broken leg causing her to have less World Cup Points. Her last chance was the World Cup in Konigsee where she finished 3rd and the other USA Daman athlete had to finish 5th. She finished 13th keeping the USA Nation points low enough to only qualify one Daman Skeleton Athlete. And her lack of World Cup Points was caused by a rookie brakeman the USBSF put into a Bobsled at Calgary that clearly should not have been there. He failed to pull the brakes at the finish and the Bobsled shot up the finish ramp and into the USA Athletes grouped at the finish dock. Again Noelle would have won Sochi no problem if she had a decent sled. But the USBSF pressured her so hard to use their crap sled that she just said, "No, if I cannot use my own sled then I am not sliding". USBSF screwed it up again. End of frustrated ranting. Tristan Gale and Jimmy Shea both won Olympic Gold Medals on my Skeleton Sled and/or Runners I designed and made.
I'm afraid of skeletons.
2:05 40-50 meters? More like 15-20.
who knew planking could get u somewhere
Where are the Skeletons?
@slygirls09 they hook their teeth on the ice
so that's what that's called.....ohhhhhh......
@712maggot ppffff can u do that????
Broom.
How about some video of her riding down the ice? Don't waste time with this video.
go talk brazilian in multiplayer games
what hapennz if u fall off? sounds like a fun way to spend the day#emergency room
The entire Australian Skeleton Team ended up in the "Quack Shack" in Dresden Germany after they all crashed out of Kresel at the Altenburg track. They still use Leeches and Amputations in East Germany. Australians are the toughest around.
What a cutie!
Planking 2.0
LMAO
she's such a cutie! :">
:D
More like extreme planking
NotEntertaining that is not nice
sexism! funny!
olympics is a joke, who decides that you have to be a perfect athlete to do what you love in life these people have no clue, there driven by copperate backers so ofc it looks hard but in all realty there are people out there that can do this and has no place to practice but the streets. I know I do it all the time - in secret because I cant get a chance to see what i'm made of oh well back to my crazy life. you dont need talent to win just the drive to become the best.
Crazy Buttboarding Guy you know they adding skateboarding to the Olympics right?
what a weird way to get to the kitchen...
