That was a really interesting 1st person perspective between the three guys. That footage shows how much faster the pros ground speed is, and it’s impressive

Love the concept of the video, but I think it was poorly executed. You have helmet cam footage from all of the riders, so don't show the pro blasting through a section, then cut to a slow mo of the beginner in a different section. If the amateur complains about a climb, show the pro doing the same climb. The few seconds of side by side footage was awesome. There should have been way more of that. This felt like more of a cool recap edit of "Two Guys Give EWS a Try" rather than a comparison.
GMBN's coverage of anything EWS related has been very poor, chalk it up to Discovery being cheapskates. And now Discovery got the DH world cup broadcasting rights, so expect the same shitty coverage of DH next year
I‘d expected more time difference from the onboard footage. You can definitely understand why the pros are starting to run narrower handlebars watching Jack hammer through the trees.
That is close to my estimates based on my local trails on which national enduro championship was held. An amateur (me) is about 50% slower than an EWS pro. Which was shocking because when you watch onboard the impression is that they go at least twice the speed. But the clock doesn't lie.
You guys were not fooling around when you said you got a pro. Can we make it a series or a documentary where we see more footage? Rich makes it look easy and Jack makes it look even easier. It was great to see how hard it really is.
Great to watch but cannot escape that these events use SO much plastic in mapping out the courses. As much as Shimano are sponsors, there must be a better way of not using single use plastic such as this. GMBN - any thoughts on sustainable events?
It's a good point Seatography! Here are our thoughts on the matter! 1 - Of course, in some areas it's necessary for safety (a lot of tight trees and crisscrossing tracks in Tweed - so marking out where a racer needs to go is essential) but a lot of the course doesn't need to be mapped as it's obvious that there is just one route, so although it may look like 100% of a track is taped, it's actually not the case in Enduro at least 2 - Tape needs to be durable. Racers crash into it, stretch it, break it even, and a marshall can reconnect it by tieing it. It needs to hold despite rain and wind, currently, we believe plastic is probably the best for this. 3 - The EWS has some environmental initiatives already, such as recycled plastic number boards which are re-useable across events and seasons. 4 - The tape isn't single use. It's all collected after the event and, whilst not all of it will be re-useable, a lot of it will be used again for more races in the area, and even for seasons down the line! If you have to order 5 reels, for the first race at that location, chances are you'll only need 1 more reel by the time it comes to race number 10 in that same location. It's not 5 reels per round if that makes sense.

You're right Ian, Louis isn't exactly a beginner, but he's never raced before in what is not his primary cycling sport, so he's a great benchmark. To throw a real beginner down tracks like these would be a little irresponsible of us!

Or to make things more equal, blare out rock (or whatever style) music during the real race events. As an experiment, perhaps a comparison of results could be made with and without the music.

Even the beginner is still a much better rider than me and he was able to push his limits and have fun in the real enduro battle! This is so cool
