Oh man I would’ve freaked out if I got the equipment swap. I’m so sorry that happened. I was lucky enough to fly the sfo-nrt route in the suite back in August and it was so friggin incredible. I was the only passenger in first and it felt like a private jet across the pacific. Plus the food and drinks and service. Plus the fast pass! I was through and on the train into Tokyo like 10 mins. ANA is great.

They offered Hibiki when I flew 8/21/24 A380 The suite on NRT-HNL and I was the only VIP as well 😂 I enjoyed the attention in spite of bit lonely feel …. Only downside was the 7.5 short flight 😢 Next April will be JAL A350 First :)
ANA is generally better. Virgin seems to work again, after being finnicky early this year. Too bad the window for VS is probably closing; guess we'll see what happens in November with the change.
I have an upcoming NH F flight from JFK, hoping I'll have a chance to get my hands on the Hibiki 🍵 if I buy a bottle am I just going to have to carry it around until I leave Japan 😅
Thanks for this video. I'll be flying SQ F from NRT-->LAX in April and plan to stop by the lounge. Definitely pretentious, but I am disappointed in the ANA F lounge. It honestly looks like more of a higher end PP lounge than a 1st class lounge. This is especially surprising as ANA is a Japanese airline and NRT must be the countries biggest hub. Why do you and Seb fly separate, is it just due to award availability constraints?

I just want to say that while I like your presentation, ANA has gone downhill so much in the last 5 years I never fly with them to Tokyo unless I have to. The level of quality from ANA staff, the flight delays, the higher costs for every price point. Despite the ANA first class experience, this airline has to be one of the greatest fall of any airline and I'm wondering how much they must pay Skytrax for their shill ratings.
Soft product is very hit or miss from my 2 F flights. Ironically, I got better service on the first flight (full F cabin) vs. the return (where I was the only passenger).
I think it’s crazy that they don’t release more award seats close in, since the airlines still get at least SOME value from the points. Definitely makes flying with multiple players difficult. The bright side is that I’m sure it makes the actually flying experience better with 1 on 1 attention. Particularly in your case as it makes it quite easy to film.
To be fair, even with a full F cabin, the experience is pretty premium haha. If anything, I had a better experience on my way there (full) vs. on the way back (1/8). I guess it depends on the flight crew more than anything.

I flew on Dec 26 and the Hibiki promo had ended, but the FA said it will resume on Jan 15, 2025.
