I just discovered this issue with my a7siii, I've owned a ZCAM before this and I could display a clean feed with all the relevant data (Sh/Aperture/ISO/Gamma) and so on... but on the Sony you just have the option between clean feed without any data or crappy ass 3:4 feed with massive black bars and huge info texts which make reliable framing next to impossible - have you found any solution to this or is there a way to jailbreak this? Sony has had this issue for almost 10 years now...

I updated to Version 2 so my menu is a little different on the HDMI resolution menu. I've also notice that if you are using the XAVC-HS 4K file format the monitor won't simultaneous display what's on the LCD. It will though in S 4K.

@@LoveUniqueStudios With the Shinobi I can't see all my camera settings because the Shinobi waveform blocks it. My work around is to use the monitor display setting where you can see the image you're shooting, Audio levels, waveform, and histogram. Then it shows the meter, etc.

Sounds like a faulty HDMI cable. If cable is proven to work, make sure you’re on the latest 2.0 firmware. Last resort would be to reset your camera settings and try again.

Is there a way to display the menu of the FX3 on the external monitor and at the same time keep displaying an image on the monitor of the FX3 camera? Whenever I tried to do that, the external monitor displays the menu of the FX camera in my external monitor but switches off the image on the FX3 camera. Useless.
Gamma display assist can be turned on/off on my FX3’s built in LCD. Most external on-camera monitors have the ability to switch on/off gamma display assist, LUTs, False Colors, etc.
@@jeremyegrayson When you turn on Gamma Display Assist on the FX3, does the HDMI feed that image (with the GDA) to your monitor? I want to know if I'll be able to view GDA on my monitor.
@@Scriptshepherd most external on-camera monitors have GDA, rec709, or the ability to use LUTs. By default the HDMI cable to monitor should show the same output as the camera’s LCD. What monitor brand are you planning to use?
@@jeremyegrayson I'm using the Andycine A6 5.7". It's a cheap one and unfortunately doesn't load LUTS. However, if it can display the A7siii's GDA via HDMI, that's all I need, as I'm trying to using false colors over the GDA to accurately expose.
I believe this setting is limited to playback on the native LCD. If you’re referring to playing out to a second external monitor, it would depend on which monitor you’re using, its native settings and output ports. It’s not part of my workflow so I don’t have a solid answer on this particular setup.
Ugghhh!!!! Doesn't work with a Accsoon SeeMo device and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Also, would help if you had sound with this video. Part of the screen that has to do with "On" and "Off" are partially covered up. I am so frustrated!
Sorry to hear about your monitor frustrations Joseph. We’ve all experienced an issue at some point. The audio is indeed lacking in this video so I added the important setting to change in the details of the video. Be sure the monitor is oriented right side up. Depending on your make and model there should be an imprint of the brand, be sure that’s facing right side up towards you. Most external monitors come with a reverse/flip screen option in the settings which will easily solve an upside down image. If this option does not work, I would reach out to the monitor manufacturer for support.

It's the monitor, I went back to my small hd focus 5 monitor as it shows a clean image compared to my Atomos
