    "I might have been a little difficult." Come on Shawn, I love ya, but give me a break. You're the biggest pain in the ass in the WWF in the mid to late 90's. No wrestler who ever worked with you then would say differently.

    Bret saying that he didn't want to drop the belt in Montreal was just an excuse not to say, "Shawn said he wouldn't drop the belt to me, so why should I drop it to him?"

    he says he knew Vince's plan. However after the match Bret asks him if he was in it, and he said "no, God is my witness" two times. I see that Bret is right for every comment he made for him.

    Born again my ass, he'd still scew Brett, because his boss said so? So honesty, respect, integrity don't matter? Screwing over one of the greatest champions of all time and a fellow pro wrestling brother speaks volumes about this guy. Brett was 100% right.

      I would say it does. Look how hogan left, he had to lose to yoko and probably had to settle for that. He didn’t murder anyone. He did a job his boss asked him to do. Wasn’t honourable but also not the worst thing to do. I love Bret but he should have just lost the title and not tell Vince how to run vinces company. Period.

    i honestly believe Shawn has changed to some degree and i'm sure he's a much better person now, but one part of this interview made me a little bit upset. when asked if he would rather drop the belt than lose it, what was the whole "i lost my smile" bit about? didn't he forfeit the belt after that promo/segment because he didn't want to job and lose it? correct me if i'm wrong.

    Bret got what he deserved. Refused to drop the title willingly as his boss directed and so it was taken from him.

    Bret had a renewal contract waiting for him in the WWF, he still loved being there, WCW was offering more money that Vince couldn't match so he did what's best for him. Vince said it's a shame to lose him and that WCW wouldn't know what to do with a Bret The Hitman. Vince told him how the match was going to end, which was the opposite. Bret walked out there not knowing the "Fuck you for leaving" awaiting him. Bret would have been fine with it if he had just told him he was suppose to lose.

  • @BryantFinlay

    You could tell Shawn didn't care about how this interviewer handled the whole interview. Just pause it at 8:47. The interviewer kept assuming stuff and kept cutting him off. A 90s hbk would of told him something if that interviewer would act like that.

    They did tell him, they came up with a hundred scenarios and Bret said "I'm not losing the belt in Canada" he proposed to drop it later on a house show in the US but at that time he would have been a WCW worker... Is Vince just suppose to trust him!? Even though he had a no compete clause, he could still just show up and throw the damn thing in the trash, it had happened before with Madusa, the Women's belt was terminated as a result of the backlash and Vince couldn't afford it happening again.

    When I heard that Bret wanted to forfeit the title on RAW the next night, not actually lose and pass the torch, I blame him for MTL, it's his fault for not checking his ego.
    No one walks out without dropping the belt properly, unless injury sidelines them.

  • @MrSinnisterUrge
    @MrSinnisterUrge 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    If he didn't want to put over SM, then he should've exerted creative control wayyyy b/f all of these events were placed into the storyline. But I've heard through some other cmments that Bret was upset that the SCSA feud wasn't the best face vs the really best heel, which was HBK. So Bret was getting everything he wanted, and although I agree with him taking the money and running, he wasn't supposed to just leave a company that built him completely susceptible to bankruptcy or being overtaken

    Shawn(one of my childhood fave superstar in WWF)but he quotes the bible "submit on to authority..", maybe Shawn hadn't read the WHOLE bible...I don't remember any anything about submitting to ANY authority but the Lord, unless he refers to "give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's,&that which is god's to God...", that's the only parable I can think of...But Jesus blatantly corrected the ten commandments to the multitudes after the fish miracle.AND I've read it close,due to my tenacity in debate class,so believer or not to debunk it I had to know that book backwards and forwards...&the aformentioned example was ONE of SO many times Christ contradicted the old testament.

  • @DUBtheTIGER
    @DUBtheTIGER 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    As for Shawn...He owed Vince McMahon his entire livelyhood. He was being pushed as the greatest wrestler in the world, all thanks to Vince. And they were close friends. He was probably more concerned with honoring Vince's wishes than screwing Bret. They didn't hate each other THAT much before then, Oh, and people REALLY think he'd do something like that just for a belt? Smh...

  • @Clintbdee
    @Clintbdee 12 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @DUBtheTIGER
    @DUBtheTIGER 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @officialvangcreative with all due respect, if you're talking about the tradition of losing your last match for a promotion in order to put over the next star as you leave, you could not be more wrong. It has nothing to do with Vince, and certainly nothing to do with Shawn. It's a tradition in wrestling that is as old as the business itself. You do not go out on top if you're leaving to go to a rival promotion. Considering Vince's position, he had every right. Think about this....

    I don't doubt Shawn's conversion, but it's clear he's glossing over certain periods of his life and when you hear comments like that it's easy to see how Bret would be upset. Obviously, everyone has to be grown up about it, but Shawn seems to be stirring up shit more than he is trying to bury anything. There's no question they're both great in-ring performers, but as a technical wrestler who can beat you on the mat, Bret is so much better. In a straight up match, he could have destroyed Shawn.

    @NEOW123 all vince had to do was 'order' bret to drop the title. let's be clear who the owner of the WWE is and was then. If Bret Hart had walked out of the WWE with the title, you wouldn't see him back there EVER. If that had happened, then there is no argument, then you can say Bret is 100% in the wrong. Fans would have turned on Bret fully.
    But no Vince had to be sneaky and underhanded and lie to people. And he's the Boss!

  • @XcXtrippyXcX
    @XcXtrippyXcX 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Either Bret wanted the belt to hold Vince up for contract renewal or he was suppose to get more money to throw it in the trash on WCW Television... Either way, BOTH Shawn and Vince did the right thing for the WWF and it's a shame Bret Hart can't fucking move on and admit he was fucking wrong.

    Bret shouldn't have even been that mad about it tbh. I don't like, and have never liked Shawn Michaels, unless i was playing w/his character in a vid game...but he and Vince have been taking a lot of unwarranted abuse for a decision that was to passively aggressively take a decision away w/o a full blown argument with Bret. I know people that do that, and hate them for it..all they had to do was take the fire but not reverse the decision, which was to put some1 over when you're leaving.

    @mrslash11 I guess my point is, he shouldn't using the bible to defend himself at all. From a business standpoint I completely understand the screw job. What I am trying to say is Shawn was a shitty person to be around for years. Part of growing up is saying "Hey, I fucked up. And I'm so sorry to everyone that I hurt or let down." He isn't willing to do that and that is what upsets me.

    You are out of your mind, no offense. I would never in my right mind let Brett Hart make some farewell speech and vacate on top, when you're heading for a RIVAL COMPANY THAT THREATENS ME PUTTING FOOD ON MY TABLE. This could have been the defining moment of the Monday Night Wars...now the MSJ bcame the catalyst of Vince rise to star, which became the perfect foil to SCSA. Had Brett just simply vacated the belt, he would've left w/out giving his heat to another superstar, and advertised leaving
