Hello Baron Pilot. That was an exceptional quality video of your flight from Nashville, TN to Florida, U.S.A. Thanks for spending time on close LCD and gauges of the 'realestate' avilable on the panel. Human Factors for me; + competency of entering ATC flight vector instructions into FMS or various Nav LCD screen. + Calculations such as fuel engine performances. Moreover gross weight v nm with safety margin. (Availability Notam). + Met clouds and ice (current air temp). May the wind always be in your favour.🦙🌏
Nice to see you having fun! God bless you and your cats my Mom is a rescue person to the radical side! I have shown her this video and she loved it, she is 75 with end stage emphysema and used to love fly with me would always ask me to fly cats out of disaster zones! She is still does this even know we want her to stop due to the danger of her health! I want to thank you for making her day, Sue Bed***** is her name. Used to work at Best Friends in Utah and works for many rescue places at her age now in PA. Thank your for your videos!
I like the fact that you agree that $50 is a lot of money. Being on a budget like me, I watch the prices closely. I am lucky that my home airport KBOW has some of the lowest priced 100LL in Florida.
Pets are family. We have taken our Winston 🐶 on several flights with us. He probably has logged more hours than some people 😆 And I agree, having the ability to stay in communication while being in the air for hours at a time is such a huge convenience as well as peace of mind. 📱
Love the video! I’ve wanted to do the pilots for paws flights. On the subject of fuel you have to be careful who you get fuel from too. My cousin use to fly a Barron and someone overfilled is tank on the left side. When he started it the left wing caught on fire. Thankfully everyone was ok.
@@BaronPilot yeah he tore his ACL whilst un-assing the plane. They were also on their way to Nashville for a show at the Grand ole Opry. Needless to say they missed the show.
Great episode!! We recently did a rescue adoption flight al-beit we adopted the dog ourselves. But our flight was with the Belgian Malinois Ranch Rescue. We are also registered with Pilots and Paws. Love volunteer flying when we can. We recently flew to WI and MI then back to TX. No help from the wind at all. All quartering head winds or direct cross winds. Booo...."all head winds and no tail winds makes Jason a very dull boy"......cheers guys.
Lovely flight and video guys. Kim's bacon didn't take long to appear! Loved the Cat-2 visual approach and greaser, nice job as usual Kris! Hi to Kim's cat mum from New Zealand. You've got a great daughter, Cheers, David :)
For me JWN in Nashville is a classic example of paying the facility fee versus fueling up which on average is at least 1.50 more a gallon than my home base. Just makes sense to pay the 20 bucks facility fee. It is a great airport with friendly helpful folks but fuel is more than I want to pay. Now having said that if safety of flight is at all a question then its buy fuel I don't care what the cost. What I won't do if fly to a nearby airport to save .30 cents a gallon and then burn some of it off heading home not to mention the extra landing and takeoff.
Hey Kris, I haven't commented in a while but still enjoying your videos. Kim is getting better with every flight ! Nice job "SIC" keep up the good work
I like that little airport at Lebanon. RIght at the interstate, with the beacon on the OTHER side of the intertate from the runway. Flown in there a fair bit when I was flying out of KRKW.
Back in the 80's I had a cat that lived to fly. I lived on the airport and that damn thing would follow me to work and fly every trip I did. Wanted to get warm he would curl up on the glare shield. Cool off, curl up under the seat. The other pilots loved him taking trips with them to. He flew everywhere from Vancouver BC to Whitehorse Yukon and as far east as Toronto. He was especially popular on our Convair charters, he would wander the isle and curl up in multiple laps. When I left that airline the owner begged me to leave "Aviator" behind. Didn't have much choice, he ran out on the ramp and jumped into the C55 and was off on another adventure. I hear he finally passed about 10 years later after many thousands of miles. Sure he was stone deaf at the end, but R2800's and 1830's can do that to you, I am a good example.
I really enjoyed this video. I'm 80 years old and about 20 years ago my wife and I full timed it for a couple of years in our motor home - with two well travelled cats. One was a rescue from when she was a kitten and had nothing to do with me. The other one was my buddy. The cats have since moved to the great kennel in the sky... My wife tells friends that, when my judgment day comes, she will probably get a smaller house and a couple of cats. Guys, it's hard to realize that we can easily be replaced by a couple of cats......
Cat people, eh? You guys just went up a notch in my book! :-) The sensation of flying would weird my two fuzz buddies out big time. Miss Kitty would squall the entire flight and Fatboy would want to be in the left seat. Welcome to Jax, guys.
Thank you two. I really enjoyed the discussion on the fuel. That was very interesting. I did learn some things about how to figure fuel burn and cost as far as going for the cheaper fuel.
I watched this flight, as usual, with a calico in my lap and an orange tabby lying next to me. My cats enjoy being next to me when I'm watching people fly. I am always wondering how well cats respond to the air pressure change on descent. Looked like it wasn't too much at once!
Beech could make a new Baron. Twin engine is goals if not for fuel economy but it could be a lot lighter, more aero and could have two appropriately tiny turbofans at the rear and be pressurized. Very doable and would be a total revolution.
Ik a guy named Dave Marco there he has a p-51 a Cessna citation and lots of other warbirds you guys should check out next time great guy and great vids!!!
Regarding buying cheaper fuel, early in our relationship, my wife to be and I had a discussion. The conclusion was if you’re really going to save some money you have to calculate how much fuel you were using to get to and from the station with the cheap gas. Otherwise you’re likely to use up your “savings”.
Hi, are you going to video the rest of the legs to Nashville? Thank you for allowing me to be one of your passengers so to speak. I love these ride along videos. From Christopher, in Australia.
Did I miss an installment where the AoA gauges were discussed? I’ve been waiting to learn about those since the instrument upgrade was completed but haven’t seen those talked about yet.
@@uvupilot3233 Yeah, they were installed as part of the major avionics upgrade they did a few months ago. I remember in one of the first videos after the upgrade he mentioned he’d explain in detail each new system on a separate flight, and did for the new IFDs, but I don’t know that he ever got to the AoA gauges/indicators. I’m curious to know how they work and when they’d be used.
I have not done a video on them yet. To demonstrate them properly I need to record a local flight just for them. I have not had a chance yet. Been too busy. ☹️
Instead of flying straight to the runway at an angle (shortest distance) he wanted me to line up with the runway first. That allowed time for the airplane in front of me to sneak in.
@@daleyingling4868 my point was how much are you spending to save that money. If it’s on your way is one thing, flying out of your way with the cost of fuel burned, cycles on engines and landings can quickly cut into your savings. Especially in a jet where staying low burns a ton of fuel. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m sure you’ve done the math. I’m just giving others something to consider. 😉
You also need to consider why you are flying. If it is purely travel then of course minimize dollars per mile. However many of us just enjoy flying and farting around so it is about minimizing dollar per hour. Many times I have flown more than 100 miles for cheaper gas. Yes it was inefficient travel wise but it was just a fun day flying and saved a little per hour so it depends on more than just how much you would burn to get to/from said airport
Always fill your tanks, always. Remember JFK? My dad taught me at a young age that full tanks are better than hoping you can make it...take that variable out if the equation....nice flight.

Square it up on approach? meaning to deviate direct in to allow for other traffic to enter in front of??

Can you talk about what I believe are heads up displays on your dash
billbex1 they are Angle of attack indicators. Looks like Alpha systems AOA’s. Heads up display of the lift in the wings.
In my Citation $1.00 a gallon difference adds up BIG $$$ time for 700 gallons. So a slight deviation makes "cents" for me... 🤑
Agreed but what’s your per hour operating costs including engine reserves etc? As that must be added in as well 😉
@@BaronPilot My engine, maintenance, avionics, insurance, and hangar reserves are about $900 to $1000/hr. So every $700 bucks I save is worth it. 😁

what would be a good baron to look at i am looking at baron 58 how would you tell the difference between p58 verse the other baron 58 thanks
The P baron is pressurized. So unless you were gonna be flying in the teens on a regular basis a regular 58 would be fine.

How much of your flight expense were you able to deduct on your taxes? Was it an offset to earned income?
