Chase make a character called "of Carthus" and farm the Carthus Curved Greatsword, infuse with sharp, and have Pyromancy Flame and Carthus Shield on the side. Get the Power Within, Carthus Flame Arc, Great Combustion, and Fire Orb pyromancies to use as well. Definitely use the Carthus milk and blood rings too. Your character will be made out to be "Dark Spirit of Carthus" when invading others. Act like an NPC (walking and blocking a lot and after applying buffs going on full offensive) to spook out new players who bought this game for Black Friday and are making their way through the catacombs.
The fact that it can be used as a staff as well as a weapon makes it very convenient. Still, the Astora's Great Sword when infused with Crystal Gem (I think) results in an S scaling in INT which is great and of course the weapon is very good overall as well. I generally use it whenever I use my high-level mage build
It's like this weapon was made for me. My favorite build to play in DS1 was a sorcerer with halberd as backup, and occasional pyromancy for close range stuff. All disadvantages sorcerers have are forgiven. This game is perfect.
i still think it works better as a pyromancer weapon instead, not only does the weapon gain very little from the 60 int, you buff the WA with the clutch ring. so you can try both pyromancy and sorcery without sacrificing much, also, 1handing it is arguibly better, and in close range you can always breath them with the glove.
Definitely gonna look into this weapon! Great range on it! My only complaint for this video is the flame trail weapon art was never used aside from the opening. Still, a fun watch and always love exploring niche weapons in this game!
By far the best build I've ever made is my mage. Uses similar spells, but better lineup. Immolation tinder, candlestick, whatever armor you like, rings that buff sorcery damage and whatever else helps you fight. Sorceries: homing crystal soul mass, crystal soul spear for the cheese which normally doesn't work, also use the farron flash sword, then the soul greatsword, then most importantly, great Farron dart. Tactic: Use the light to open them up for a flash word or 2 or 3, then expect them to roll after the second or 3d flash sword so you immediately switch to greatsword which is likely to roll catch someone who panics and rolls away. Then they will def be panicking because they'll almost be dead so you quickly switch to great Farron dart to spam and finish them off. Enjoy.
You'd think that because its the weapon of the FIRE Witches and all of its attacks are FIRE based, that the Tinder would be a Pyro catalyst. Especially since the vanilla game already had 2 weapons that double as Sorcery catalyst but we had to wait for Ringed City and the demon's scar for a weapon/pyro catalyst. And god I hate that the scar is a curved sword instead of a straight sword. Then again, if it were a straight sword it would be ultra OP AF......more so than it already is.
Something you don’t do that you should do with this weapon is you can combo an R1 with an R2 soul great sword or faron flash sword. Just like with the heysel pickaxe. In my opinion he heysel pickaxe is the best pvp mage weapon if it’s a 1v1
Should also use Soul Greatsword or Old Moonlight. I'd switch out Soulmass for it, but it's my personal preference since I don't like Soulmass playstyle. Also, mixing in a WA to catch roll kings is sometimes nice.
You can switch out the candlestick for the saint tree bellvine, that'd replace the sage ring and the damage reduction is negligible. Then you could add in either the FaP+3 or the Leo ring, since this weapon only does thrust damage. Would prolly improve the build a little.
thing is, he would lose on sorcery damage, meaning he would end up swapping it for the clutch ring instead, so, basically the same, but with extra damage taken added with the crown, means he would be taking ALOT of damage every time someone sneezed in a diferent continent.
I prefer the Heysel Pick if only due to the lack of a FAI requirement, the much lower DEX requirement as well as the excellent poise to weight ratio that hammers/picks have. While the range is worse I'd say it's a much better for fighting player who rush down casters, as the lighter weight allows for more armour to be worn, or another weapon to be carried, or simply less levels needed for a decent build. The Immolation Tinder does have the benefit of having 220 spell buff compared to the pick's 208 at 60 INT, so if you find opponents are surviving with just a sliver of health it could be worth switching up. And the range on Immolation Tinder in regards to spells such as Farron Flashsword is definitely useful for spacing.
MrRichardHammerbush also, because he is using the rings and candlestick, the damage boosts are mulitpliers, so having that extra 12 spell buff actually increases damage nicely. the math for it is (spell buff x weapon damage multiplier) x young dragon x bellowing dragon x scholars candle stick so, for true numbers sake, lets make up number for now coz i forget actual numbers. 220 x 4 x 1.15 x 1.25 x 1.1 = 1391.5 208 x 4 x 1.15 x 1.25 x 1.1 = 1315.6 ... you know, i spent so much time mathing this out, i forgot why. oh well, ill just leave this crap here. bye edit: i cant actually remember the real numbers for the rings and stuff, i may be right or wrong, idk. but the point is just looking at the damage difference when using all the same gear except spell tool

I do like this weapon, just not so much it’s design at the end. I would have liked to see the weapon art used more, even if just to force them to roll into the next attack
I use the courtier staff its actually really good imo I input hella damage like 1k with crystal spear and the balls with it I still have to get other gear for my building to fill finish it tho
Mike Lauinger You can actually land a true combo with the heysel pick. If you wear the sage ring +2 (Very important that its +2) you can do an r1 with the pick and immediately cast soul greatsword or old moonlight for a guaranteed combo
Lc Smirk oh yeah, that's the best thing to do with it. Old moonlight does like 100 more damage so i usually use that if i killed midir on that character. Actually, you can save yourself the sage ring+2 ring slot and just use the bellvine (I would say the witchtree, but it looks very bad on yout back lol)

Why are you using Prisoners Chain instead of Ring of Favor+3? I can understand using both, I do that, but if you're only using one why would you choose the one that lowers absorption? They both add about the same stats, in fact I think Ring of Favor+3 adds _slightly_ more (at 120).
ROF is percentage based, while the Chain adds 15 flat levels, which on any build that isn't 40 vig/40 end is a better choice. The reduced absorption is also negligible, because the free levels (especially the 5 vitality) adds flat defense.
Hmm. I always use Prisoners Chain with 35 Vit and 35 End to get them to 40, but when I test with only PC vs ROF the ROF still does more at 35/35. Idk though. I believe you. I'll do some more testing and see where I'm going wrong
Michael O. well, youre right. but chase usually has lower stats, closer to less than twenty for vit and vigor. since rof is percentage based, it has less value. besides, the damage absorption debuff is negligible. honestly, he could take of his gloves and probably get the same absorption. defense values in this are bs anyway. just like poise and that. yeah

It could be like that, but my prediction is that a lot of people would play lame - get a health lead and then avoid you/play ultra defensive until timer runs out. I remember that being a thing in For Honor and it was annoying as fuck.

People who know they done lost and instead of nutting up and taking the L, they'll run around the arena until time runs out to get the draw. Not a huge problem in Kiln or round plaza but on the roof top or the dragon steps.......😤 people are such bitches. Also, since its by percents(cuz no one has the same health stat) and it hard to gauge their HP to yours(cuz of the smaller health bar over their head compared to yours on the hud) I think the health lead, play defense wouldn't be a prevalent as you think.
You should try an offhand saintree bellvine chime. It does the same thing as the sage right but takes up an offhand weapon slot instead of a ring slot.

Okay so there is a way better way to use soulmass or crystal soulmass and affinity you seemed to just try and turn around with it but you can lock on to the enemy while youre facing away twisting your character around to face your opponent at any second so sometimes its best to wait and use them till you know its gonna hit also you can send them individually by twisting your character in circles really quickly it'll send them more slowly and hopefully roll catch this works better with affinity since they have a slower speed and better tracking but works well with the soul masses as well. But the combo he was trying to use could have been done more efficiently by using it the way I stated in my earlier comment.

Free? Does the chain not make you take 30% more damage? Seems more like you are helping the enemy make it easier to kill you, if I'm honest. Because what is health worth, if you make it easier to lose it, rather than keep a slightly smaller health pool, but make it harder to decrease it?
This weapon is unarguably the best int weapon, and in top 3 of the best weapons of the game... The only con is is massive stamina consumption, and this at meta sl heavily influences your combat style. But if you're mean you can spam homing soulmass, which is the best sorcery in the game ofc, and halberd attacks... For me it means more than 90% win rate in arena. Conclusion: Tinder is op.
my biggest problem with it is that, i just found it to be too weak, it got range and versatility, but the trade off are... dunno how to say it, not worth it? at least for me. funny thing is, this was the first weapon i wanted to try out when i played the game. as a player who enjoys pyromancy, however, i just feel in love with the lothric greatsword. too bad you get it so late in the game, i really wanted to make a run using only that, but i had to use the bastard sword instead...
Having a Saint-tree Bellvine instead would free of a ring slot and just switch back to candle when casting works really good too. Edit extra word in the worst possible spot
The candle boosts the damage of sorceries by 12.5%. That's its entire role on this build. If you use bellvine to free up the ring slot, you might as well not use the candle at all.

Same. The weapon art is one of my favorite things about this weapon. Nice ground tracking, decent range and decent damage, it would have been useful for roll catching aggressive opponents.
I‘m using a crystal richard rapier in my mage build. I have 55 int/35 dex. Its not the best, but its really fun to use. PS: if you have a high dex, you don’t need the sage ring, so i use ring of favor instead. Its hillarius when i fight a parry king. I mix my rapier with flashsword, and when they try to parry, i cast a soulgreatsword in their faces kkkk they aways think i will span flashsword when they close to me...

Farron Flashsword range on this is insane but Heysel Pick has better hyper armor and a true combo. I think that's a better sorcery weapon.

Another thing, besides Fire damage scaling off INT is that it's Piercing damage. So, you can get Counter damage, and it works with the Leo Ring.

How good is this weapon when comboed with snap freeze? The fire damage resets the frostbite debuff and it doesn’t matter that it has bad spellbuff.

if you invest in the dex and strength a bit, maybe up to 25 each, the leo ring is crazy on the immolation tinder

In the arena, if time runs out, whoever has the highest percent of their health left should be the winner. That draw shit is horse shit.
It could be like that, but my prediction is that a lot of people would play lame - get a health lead and then avoid you/play ultra defensive until timer runs out. I remember that being a thing in For Honor and it was annoying as fuck.
@@kynnethic8437 yes but it wouldn't be any worse than whats happening now. People who know they done lost and instead of nutting up and taking the L, they'll run around the arena until time runs out to get the draw. Not a huge problem in Kiln or round plaza but on the roof top or the dragon steps.......😤 people are such bitches. Also, since its by percents(cuz no one has the same health stat) and it hard to gauge their HP to yours(cuz of the smaller health bar over their head compared to yours on the hud) I think the health lead, play defense wouldn't be a prevalent as you think.

You should try an offhand saintree bellvine chime.
It does the same thing as the sage right but takes up an offhand weapon slot instead of a ring slot.
thing is, the cnadlestick buffs sorceries, so he would just end up using the sorcery ring instead.

Okay so there is a way better way to use soulmass or crystal soulmass and affinity you seemed to just try and turn around with it but you can lock on to the enemy while youre facing away twisting your character around to face your opponent at any second so sometimes its best to wait and use them till you know its gonna hit also you can send them individually by twisting your character in circles really quickly it'll send them more slowly and hopefully roll catch this works better with affinity since they have a slower speed and better tracking but works well with the soul masses as well. But the combo he was trying to use could have been done more efficiently by using it the way I stated in my earlier comment.

Free? Does the chain not make you take 30% more damage? Seems more like you are helping the enemy make it easier to kill you, if I'm honest. Because what is health worth, if you make it easier to lose it, rather than keep a slightly smaller health pool, but make it harder to decrease it?
Good set up
This weapon is unarguably the best int weapon, and in top 3 of the best weapons of the game... The only con is is massive stamina consumption, and this at meta sl heavily influences your combat style. But if you're mean you can spam homing soulmass, which is the best sorcery in the game ofc, and halberd attacks... For me it means more than 90% win rate in arena. Conclusion: Tinder is op.
Far from being top 3, the halberd moveset is too slow and easily reactable, as well as all the sorceries.
Oath_Of_Revenge Halberds are one of the best weapon archetypes for roll catching.

my biggest problem with it is that, i just found it to be too weak, it got range and versatility, but the trade off are... dunno how to say it, not worth it? at least for me.
funny thing is, this was the first weapon i wanted to try out when i played the game. as a player who enjoys pyromancy, however, i just feel in love with the lothric greatsword. too bad you get it so late in the game, i really wanted to make a run using only that, but i had to use the bastard sword instead...
Having a Saint-tree Bellvine instead would free of a ring slot and just switch back to candle when casting works really good too.

The candle boosts the damage of sorceries by 12.5%. That's its entire role on this build. If you use bellvine to free up the ring slot, you might as well not use the candle at all.

as close to 4040 dex/int is the best stats for this weapon, mainly because this weapons scaling drops HARD at the softcap of 40 int
making it a better weapon for a pyromancer instead. giving them a long range melee weapon capable of using sorcery, and because you can also buff it by using the pyro clutch ring.
Doesn't exist mage in dark souls 3. Every "mage" is a battle mage.

Same. The weapon art is one of my favorite things about this weapon. Nice ground tracking, decent range and decent damage, it would have been useful for roll catching aggressive opponents.

sorcery casul here: why arent you using crystal homing mass?
I‘m using a crystal richard rapier in my mage build. I have 55 int/35 dex. Its not the best, but its really fun to use. PS: if you have a high dex, you don’t need the sage ring, so i use ring of favor instead. Its hillarius when i fight a parry king. I mix my rapier with flashsword, and when they try to parry, i cast a soulgreatsword in their faces kkkk they aways think i will span flashsword when they close to me...
