I have just bought full electric ORA. Fantastic vehicle. Really well made and great features. I believe they will need to reduce price by 10% and it will sell. Great to never buy petrol! I charge it fully at home from my solar system!
Agree fully on the EV scenario- synthetic fuel are available, they just need to make the deal with the right people… For environmental concerns look at agriculture first. Great video.
@@robertmartin1116 well, it may just be a car review but another journalist shared their “opinion” on a car, which was actually objective and got cancelled by that company.
Seems more wasteful to move across to an ev as the battery will eventually die and end up in landfill anyway - and the electricity to charge (where I am from at least) is generated by coal or gas anyway!
Hydrogen I feel is definitely the way we should go! If I remember correctly - and I probably don’t because I was terrible in science in school - hydrogen is the most abundant resource in the universe I think? Toyota has the Mirai for example, and all it emits is a tiny bit of water as wee on the driveway after ya park it! I wish more manufacturers would go for that and we’d develop the infrastructure for it because hydrogen fuel cells would be amazing for cars! Thoughts? I just don’t think Lithium EVs should be the answer. EVs or other fuel sources? Sure! But LITHIUM EVs? Probably shouldn’t be the future 😖
I'm also not sold on EV's Honestly hydrogen cars make more sense, it would even be more cost effective to turn existing petrol stations into hydrogen stations. Imagine how many cars fill up on the highway side petrol station, imagine having to wait 15 minutes for each of the 5 cars in front of you to charge up. It won't work
Jip .. Large building aircons, planes and boats are the big polluters .. automakers are reacting to goverment pressure/legislation and not to what users want. ( and pricing ??? )
I do love a good vehicle but we still far off with charging stations in SA. Not a fan of ev's as yet but might change in the future. Amazing and kaas funny as usual 😂
People are willing to buy more expensive vehicles. It's evident in how all car prices have been increasing in the last 5years. New or used, budget or luxury manufactures/dealers/private sellers are asking for more.
I think the only reason to buy an EV is if you want the intro convenience of never going to a fuel station and love the charging at your house Unless that’s your main priority there’s no reason to get an EV that’s why I think EV’s work in a rolls Royce but not most cars
The i5 M60 all day long over the EQE 43/ 53 the BMW is cheaper (for what reason I really don't know) because this is better then E-class if you'd compare this very same model to the Mercedes EQE 43/53 in the petrol versions then this would've been a V8 in comparison to a six cylinder and it would've been cheaper then that specific EQE, wich to me price wise it's pointless to buy the Mercedes. BMW better EV THEN MERC.
It’s just too expensive for what you get. And no federal tax credits because it’s too expensive. I’ll have to pass until BMW lowers the price. If you need a direct “fair comparison”, you can buy a Model S Plaid (almost twice as fast and longer range) for the same amount and get way more for my money.
I feel EV's are really expensive toys for people with lot of disposable income and a lot of time on their hands, now going to the malls have to be calculated trips with charging involved and those will be specific malls with chargers...if they working.
I did the calculations a few months ago when we were considering an iX3 (with a 80kWh battery). At Eskom's rate of R3.50 per kW it costs about R280 per charge giving you about 350km range. So 80c per KM. If you do roughly 20,000KM a year, it's about R1,350 per month. If you use public charging the rate goes up to R7 per kW through Gridcars.
I think EVs are just being forced on the market way before they are ready, the lies around them are just too much. The production of batteries is not clean, their desposal is even worse, the price is very much rediculous for so little. I fill up my 63L tank on my BMW in less than 3 minutes, and then do 550km. How will i adapt to waiting for more than 30 minutes for a car to charge on a public charger. An EV is not a car that can promptly be used in an emergency while a normal car u can js get in and go anywer instantly
You obviously don't know anything about declining cost curves, nor the amount of energy required to manufacture hydrogen vs just putting it into a battery. The new Volvo is allready the faster most plwerfull car under a million bucks. Yes that's alot but tesla are the same price as camrys in the US.
EV's are souless - essentially motor vehicles that have become digital appliances...terrible. The tide might be turning overseas with EV sales crashing. Yay.

I test drove it and I was very impressed. Unfortunately, it is just too expensive.
I love your style with your reviews, keep them coming

I hope you do not get cancelled because of this honesty. I have seen others get cancelled for speaking truth.
It’s not truth, it’s an opinion. Which is what a journalists does. I agree with her but many do not.
Who would cancel Juliet?
Really dude? It's just a car review... not the "truth"... like really, no one is going to cancel you on a review on a 2024 BMW i5...
@@robertmartin1116 well, it may just be a car review but another journalist shared their “opinion” on a car, which was actually objective and got cancelled by that company.
Harry's Garage wasn't impressed either
I just love her presentations...what a laugh and real down to earth reviews.Love it and keep at it!!!
In AUD on BMW's website, this costs about $230k+ .... car prices are just insane right now...
lol!!!
Great ending 🤣😂🤣
Classic Juliet

Exactly.
Used fossil cars are much better. They already exist.
You are some character for sure.
Always the best reviews.
I am so agreeable with you on EVs...not so into them....keep it coming Juliet
I love the car but my problem is that we a still facing loadshedding here in SA.

Agreed. Unless a different "unobtanium" battery chemistry is found, its going to evolve into smaller battery hybrid models.
No.
Lol, love the TMI, fantastic video as always... you need a book or a "How to Drive in Africa" series...
I'm also not sold on EV's

Who on earth is wanting to spend R2m on a car !?! Unless you’re a CEO or a trust fund baby, this is how out of touch car manufacturers have become.

2mill isn't the problem. But 2mil on a sedan is
Juliet is like my fave
we've all grown to know you well now... so just throw it out there. We all gotta pop in at the Gynoe for service every now and then
We are a family in here feel free Sr. Juls😅

Bad Capetonian driving on every review Juliet 😅. Time to do JHB reviews
Used fossil car is more eco friendly and the engine is not making as much emissions as new. Massive resources are needed to a build new EV,

EV's are not the answer, alternative fuels is wat we need
Can someone give an idea of cost of electricity of operating an EV? Normal people need to compare bottom line figures to even consider EVs

Wayyyy tooooo much tech....not necessary and you have to pay for most of it which is not optional.
Soooooooooooo.... i think i too, would not be in the best of moods if i was en route to a gynae. Yes I'm a dude, but thats besides the point.

If youre car have a towbar its a boy no towbar a girl😅😅

Rather have a m340i xdrive that this soulless car
But you seem charge whilst at the gynae. Bathong
They can keep there EV's

TMI 😅
Hydrgy
EV sales are already falling. So, you're on to something.😅
Not true.
Nope, try again, they’re simply growing slower.
