hi friends! today, we'll reorganize my bookshelves for 2024 to keep me sane, because my office was looking too crazy for my liking😭 (there are 800+ books to organize, so buckle in). in this video, i show you every book i own and my home library🤍 we have some fantasy, horror, thriller, magical realism, romance, literary fiction, graphic novels and contemporary novels in this video. enjoy!

when browsing for books to read, i always look for book reviews. as a reader and booktuber, one of the most fun aspects of reading for me is building my book collection and having a space to display my books. that is why i bring you a 2024 bookshelf tour where i show you every single book i own physically (plus reorganizing my bookshelves for the new year). booktube has buzzed about some of these books… but did/will i enjoy them? i hope you guys enjoy this one and come out with more books to add to your TBR and some good book recommendations for 2024!

I organize by my love for the book lol, my favorite books are at eyesight level while the lower levels are for less liked books

I totally agree that bookshelf organizing is such a therapeutic process! ❤️ It’s one of my fave things to do and I can spend hours on it. As for my organization style, it’s hard to explain but I definitely focus heavily on height and color coordination. Not always rainbow, but more like vibe (black/white, blue/red, pastel, warm tones, etc)🧍🏽♀️It doesn’t always make it easy to find a book, but I do know, for the most part, where everything is 😌 However, when I run out of space, it can be a free for all 😂

I just moved into my own place for the first time and organizing and setting up my bookshelves was the most fun but also most stressful part. This video was definitely the nudge in the right direction for when I want to change up the organization, loved it!
I’m a simple gal, all of my books are organized by author’s last name. Though! This year I switched it up a bit and have one bookshelf for all of my tbr books, and I’ve separated the middle grade/ya from the adult.
Also, idk if you’ve already read it but The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynn’s is fantastic. I’m currently reading the sequel and it’s sooo good.
i feel like i'd mess it up so quick if i did author last name🤣 though it's probably the best to find things quickly!
I wish I was more willing to give different organization styles a try lol. The only shelf I have that doesn’t fit my alphabetical system is my Lord of the Rings shelf (I have too many copies lol).
Beautiful shelves, Mel! I organize my shelves in a very similar same way. GENRE, then AGE (middle-grade/YA/adult), then HEIGHT (keeping authors and series together), and wouldn't have it any other way.🧍♀😊

Between now and last year I think when I did a small declutter/relocated some books from my collection, now I’m down to 147! I feel like in the last 6-8 months idk I really am choosy w the books I buy so now it’s going to be great in the future for my collection!

Loved it so much ! I think it’s a great idea to organize by genre. I used to organized by rainbow but then changed to keeping series together. 🩷🩷
omg i used to do rainbow too, but then the amount got out of hand so it was no longer sustainable😭
I finally got Billy bookcases in September and finally got my shelves organized in December. I just do it by genre and then author’s last name! I’d love to do by size but just feel like it’s not best for the long term

I have my library organized by author. It's easy to find my next read and easy to put new books on the shelves.

you said that you would probably be able to store more books if you had an extra bookshelf, but adding an extension to the billy bookshelves is also something to have in mind :)
i've been thinking about it, ngl! i already have books up there anyways, so buying the extension would solidify the space, i think🏃🏻♀️
I have Kallax shelves and my go to is theme wise. Each cube section has its own theme. Most of them are fantasy or queer literature. However, it makes it fun for me to organise. I think of getting a smaller one for my bed side to finally find enough space for my manga too

🧍♀️Damn. 800! I have a total of 115 physical books. Since most of my reads till 2020 was Kindle (r.i.p to those +1k books. I don't have the app anymore and I kinda don't wanna). And now it's still digitals, but my multiple mails have them saved. I found 3 books I don't remember at all yesterday, while cleaning my mail. Might re read them next!

🧍🏻♀️ I love your bookshelves, but watching you reorganize them makes me anxious because I get so frustrated when I decide to organize mine (and I only have one) so your description of being paralyzed was making me anxious 😂 also, I organize mine by height, and each shelve has its own “purpose” so top is is fave, then read but not faves, then series and unreads for the rest of the shelves.

I’m a pretty practical girly 😂 I basically go from Left to right, like how I typically read, and by genre and age, it begins with Young adult fantasy, Young Adult Contemporary, Middle grade fantasy, middle grade contemporary, Adult Fantasy, Adult contemporary, Adult Historical fiction, and all alphabetized by authors last name, and then my BOTM books in rainbow style at the tail end 😂 I have the occasional thriller and mystery book in different age groups but not enough to give it a categorized section lol.

I'm really weird with how I organize my books. Do keep in mind I don't own a large quantity, so it's not too overwhelming lol. I organize through genre while simultaneously organizing by color yet also by hardcover/paperback while keeping series/duologies together. Yeah there's my crazy show lol.
