War Thunder "Drone Age" update introduced new American Battlecruiser (Large Heavy Cruiser) USS Alaska (mini Iowa battleship). At the moment this is the best top tier ship in US blue water tech tree.

I think they should put more effort in developing naval EC, and make it permanent, and allow people grind events/bp stuff. Mission based gamemode is the way to go allowing all types of naval vessels to practipate, instead of deadmach we have in currently in random battles( and obviously it doesn't work since naval is not popular as it should be) Coming back from EC it feels very stale, barely any unique gameplay. Random battles is only good for coastal vessels
Also AI submarine hunting mission would be nice to have in EC.

When you know that you will be disconected because of the conection just press alt+F4, then log again into game and you will be asked if you want to come back into the old game... if you do not close the game and you gonna end up in the garage then its game over.
If only somehing like this but air battle, but someone would point the air sim battles, I just want that but without stuck in the cockpit, that way bombers is not op for having the only one who can see this person like in sim battles
The amount of detail and quality of the models for naval is awesome. Especially when you look at ground and air. It’s like they just want quantity over quality for the others.
Oh yeah, especially the newest ones.
tbh many of the ground and air models are quite old at this point, original plane models can be 10+ years now
@@bighobo7745 that is true, but the new models are still subpar in my opinion. They have the basket ball court modelled on the ship that you cant really see unless you look for it but they keep adding very plane tanks and bad placeholder cockpits in planes. Only new tanks that actually look good are the Israeli tanks. Two thumbs up to the naval modelling team.
@@InquisitorKalt Thumbs up indeed! From what I know a lot(most?) of the modeling is outsourced so results may vary, especially if there are time constraints.
Maybe for planes, but ground vehicles have been amazing on release for many years now.

The secret about torpedoes is to try to predict the enemys direction, aim them and shoot them..... to then hit a completely different target that you didnt even knew it was there for the first place.

I rly rly hope they keep EC as a permanent mode in game. It's the only time I play naval now, because I love having all the different objectives to fight for.

The HE on Alaska is best used against any ship with casemates or cruisers without antifrag. The AP shell is in my opinion a far better general use shell. It has a relatively low filler ratio, however it also has a fairly low velocity. That makes it a little harder to land shots, however I believe that this makes the shell almost always detonate closer to the middle of important components and almost never over penetrate. It is my go to round for both farming Helenas and removing Kronshtadts. On the later, it is good at detonating ammo, but I have had situations where I have detonated 3 shell rooms and it still managed to continue fighting me long after it should’ve sank. Overall Kron is still disgusting but Alaska has a chance at least.
I need to do some more testing with it, but in test drive I noticed that AP goes deep inside the ship, and can detonate ammunition pretty easily. Probably combination of both shells is the best. You set some fires with HE and after go for the ammo with AP
@@DOLLARplays I favor HE against anything with casemates and most cruisers, while I recommend AP against anything more modern or with antifrag. The only exception to that rule is Scharnhorst, due to the turtleback. The low velocity on the AP, especially at long range, puts a learning curve on using it effectively. However, it also is what makes it perform well. It ensures it detonates in the meatiest part of the ship’s internals, while also appearing to cause plunging fire through deck armor at ranges past 10-12 km. I have noticed at tendency to ammo rack ships like HMS Hood, which have very deep and hard to hit racks, mostly at these long ranges. HE is still a very viable shell, but I recommend a mix favoring AP for these reasons. Hope this helps, and happy sailing.

Nope. EC mode can be pretty addictive;)
100% both will appear. Bismarck 3d model was spotted in last year june leak, and also last year Gaiji Japanese partners announced that they started gathering info for Yamato. I wouldn't be surprised if Gaijin already has high quality 3d model ;) seems like they prepere them way in advance
Naval EC can be very good fun. I play it with my dad for a chill break from air AB or tank RB.
I hope that stuff like the littorio class gets release before them since they’ll be outmatched if they get released after.
More realistically I think they’ll be released before due to hype, mark my words Musashi will be a premium as well as New Jersey.
I wonder what they’ll do with the soviets since their surface fleet in ww2 was way inferior to the Italians let alone all other major navies.
@@chadhill8992 they will give them ships that they laid down but could never have built to specifications. These specifications will in turn be ridiculously unrealistic, and broadly outclass most ships in the game. The guns will be more powerful due to the damage model broadly favoring explosive mass vastly over total shell mass when determining damage. If the trend holds up to current data mines of in game ships, these impossibly powerful guns will also be roughly twice as accurate as weapons of their same size, even when their overly high velocity would create massive dispersion problems. Their ships will also be more survivable, as their crew will be the only crew with most modules inside the armor, as opposed to outside of it for no reason like on the Alaska. Top tier naval is where Russian bias well and truly lives, and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Thankfully, most players who main Russian battleships these days have had their skills degrade due to the ease of using them, but if you run into even a semi competent player in a Kronshtadt he will run the entire lobby, easily getting a 10+ k/d. It is a strong contender fo the most OP thing to ever be added to the game, and I doubt Sovetzky Soyuz will be any different.

And what does gaijin do?
They do had a new bb for Italy, good, but in its ww1 configuration where they could have add it’s pre ww2 rebuilt which, among other things increased aa defenses and main gun calibers.
But of course Italy isn’t supposed to get nice things according to gaijin.
What a shame, I have to say tho that playing Italy made me a monster with other navies, I got to a point where now I can one shot pretty much any destroyer or light cruiser since with ap you either shoot for ammo or do fuck all damage.

The Alaska's 12" gun are considered the best 12" guns ever made they compared directly with the mark 11 14" guns that were fitted on the New Mexico and Tennessee after pearl harbor and were better than the mark 11s in several aspects making them extremely powerful for their size.
You make the most gorgeous views of these vehicles They should be sellable art pieces.

Dollar, is your motherboard also giving up or is it some other problem that makes your game freeze? I have frequent game freezes, but not just in War Thunder, which is probably a sign of my motherboard giving up, though I also wonder if there is some new client bug that makes the game freeze up and crash aswell.
No I never have them. I'm pretty sure that was just wat thunder crashing, some naval EC bug probably. If your pc freezing not just in wt then probably it's your pc. Did you check your temperatures? could be overheating problem
@@DOLLARplays Nah, my temperature and everything else is fine, it just starts freezing for like 5-10 seconds when a game puts my system under heavier load (War Thunder did it frequently before I lowered the graphics a bit, now it's better, my brother has it worse though). Pretty sure it's my old motherboard giving up, I'll have to buy a new one.
But anyways, thanks for your answer, good to know it's not only my computer, but War Thunder being buggy again.

hey Betty! what naval ship do you recommend for farming? I was thinking about play EC naval, but not sure what premium ships are the best for farming.
Honestly I don't know, I haven't really played with them. I think Helenas are pretty good, also that soviet top tier premium ship I think is pretty good.
Wait a month, and there should be war thunder 10th anniversary sales for almost everything. Also there should be another major update at around that time, and I have a feeling there's a chance to see first premium battleships.

Here is USS Alaska for you! Basically an Airfield Defense from Air Battles but moving.
And airfield almost
Baltimore/Pittsburgh are still more effective in my opinion. Alaska has only marginally more light aa, with about 8 more barrels of 20mm and 40mm. Both have the same 5/38 layout. However, the amidship catapult on Alaska means that there is a worse concentration of aa fire, with often worse firing angles, and shifts two extra 40 emplacements to the stern. This means a worse concentration of fire on a larger ship, even if it is slightly superior in total volume.

2:25 The battleship that docked next to Alaska was a USS Missouri, But still a Iowa-class.

Not sure if its already been mentioned to you but i would turn off the setting to control primary and secondary together. With it enabled your 5" wont fire at anything on their own so you cant have it engage its own target in the background and your long range AA goes completely unused. If you want to use it go for it though, also a shame we cant set it per vehicle for things like the dreadnoughts the feature was designed for
I knew that. I wish there was a button turn it off and on instead of going in the settings all the time. Secondaries are pretty useful when you fight destroys

Just wondering have you ever tried The Cycle Frontier, the season n2 just came out and it's a lot of fun. It's a Tarkov like but no matching you just connect and have fun, cool graphics (fantasy style), players to kill for their loot, monsters etc.

You have no idea how much that decal scroll change pissed me off.
I had this whole system worked out for every nation's tanks. Consistent sizes of decals across every vehicle, worked like a charm. Had everything looking nice and historical.
Now it's impossible to make them perfectly consistent, and size is basically a guess. Sure, you can make them a wider variety of sizes now, but it's annoying as hell if it takes away my ability to consistently place them AND takes forever to scroll.
Oh I can imagine. I don't even bother sometimes. Something definitely broke few updates ago

You got the double reload because you are switching ammo. Switch your ammo before you spawn. also drop your scout bombs unless you actually plan on using them because scouts dont have a lot of power and bombs sap the little they have. just make sure you are high up because they have no delay.
Man it's beyond me why they don't make naval EC permanent, and why they don't have a completely mixed EC with ground, air and sea forces - it would be SO much fun. The game mode really validates a lot of vehicles too, where you can actually excel in your role and make a bigger impact on the outcome of the match compared to regular RB where your frequently forced into unfavourable fights due to the cramped map sizes. EC is honestly the most enjoyable mode for me and I really hope they put more development into it.
I totally agree. They need to put more effort in naval EC. Regular battles gamemodes do not work well with blue water ships, why naval is not so popular
