Looks like I’ll be headed to Autozone. Great tip yet again

on my generac 17500 I found that along with a heat tape it was beneficial to also use a ceramic fiberglass wrap but then again I'm in Texas where it's like 190 degrees in the shade during the summer.

You are absolutely correct, since posting this video, I have the exhaust extension wrapped.
As always the wrap didn’t arrive in time for the video

I am having trouble with the throttle control solenoid sticking at a low throttle when toggling the "low idle" switch OFF. It will idle down fine when turning the "low idle" ON, but the solenoid seems to stick when trying to rev back up to achieve 60 Hrz. Does anyone have experience replacing this solenoid? Maybe have a video link of how to do it? Thanks!

What did you use to keep the reducer and flex pipe up against the muffler or is it just sitting there with no seal?

So basically I used 2 exhaust reducers. The reducer on the flex pipe is a smidge smaller than the one I have mounted to the heat shield. When I insert the flex pipe into the heat shield it seats itself. So I guessing your wondering if the flex pipe is loose and can rattle off. The answer to that is no, the two reducers is nominally the same size ID on heat shield reducer and OD on flex pipe reducer.
      Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I didn't your comment

I have a 7500 Westinghouse and want to use your idea can you send more pictures as I have so many questions.

What kind of question(s) do you have. Ask away and I will try and help

@@gilbosdiy thank you. Mainly my questions surrounded exhaust. I was going to tap the inside of the muffler outlet , screw in a nipple and slide flex tubing over the nipple. The nipple diameter as determined by the exhaust outlet is one inch. I assume I would I would need a piece of flex tubing slightly larger. Finding a source for the flex tuning is hard and no luck. Any thoughts would be very helpful. Btw a friend told me that the muffler exhaust metal is too thin to thread, I have no idea.

@@sidneywhite749 I originally thought about going your route as well. Then more and more I thought about it, too much work.
Then I went with this method of using a radiator screw clamp, to hold the exhaust adapter to the heat shield, a lot simpler. I then as you saw in the video
Does your heat shield remove like my generator. If it does, best to take that piece off and go down to the local auto parts stores. So that you can have it with you to get the correct reducer muffler adapter. If you can find a exhaust adapter that fits through the hole of the exhaust shield, you can basically go the same route I did.
Another note, on the adapter I used, I had to trim the smaller end shorter, due to the fact the distance between the muffler and the heat shield. I trimmed enough for the adapter to sit against the heat shield on the larger end. doing so allowed me to use the radiator hose clamp.
I think O'Reilly might have 1" flexible pipe that they sell by the foot (Walker 1 Inch Steel Pipe - 40000). So if you have an O'Reilly near might want to check them out. Hope it helps

@@gilbosdiy I like your method better. I took off my heat shield similar to yours, The spark arrestor was held in by two 6 mm bolts that went into ears on the exhaust body. I will need a 2 1/2 reducer to cover. I have a reducer now that is 2 1/2 on the big end and 2 1/4 on small end. Either I need a flex tubing to go inside the small end facing out or over it. Where do you think I should look for the flex tubing. The reducer is too long as the muffler outlet is close to the heat shield so I will have to make the hole in the heat shield large enough to manipulate the reducer forward and control the movement with clamps on both sides. What a pita.

@@sidneywhite749 What is the diameter of the hole on your heat shield, 2 1/4"? O'Reilly auto parts sells flexible tubing by the foot. Does the spark arrestor touch the heat shield??
