I think sped up videos are great when just seeing how things are created but to follow along real time is best. Your videos are beautiful and appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you. Yes, there’s something about an ink drawing. I hope to do a variety of drawings for the channel, ink, ink and watercolour and ink and ink wash. They all have their own charm.
hi Jim, how are you? i would love to thank you for this upload, the sketch is so real, i watched it repeatedly the detail, the composition plus i notice you include the instrument as the background, your voice itself is so calming soothing, i would love to delve deep more and more, thank you once again
hi Jim, i am now just coming to relax a lil bit while seeing the technique you apply when sketching, really from my heart thank you for this kind of upload, we all are waiting for the next upload, until then you stay well and healthy
I love your videos either way, but I would love real time. I am trying to learn how to draw, so I am trying to follow you step by step. Thank you, suzie
There will be a mix of videos in real time and some sped up a bit, but no “time lapse”. In the future if there is one sped up and you would like it slowed down please let me know and I will make another slower version.
I so enjoyed watching this evolve in realtime. At first I loved the pen and ink and thought just leave it alone and then the way you applied the watercolour was beautiful. The sketch is so charming and your voice is so calm and relaxing. Would love to see more of your sketching. Thank you.
Thank you for this, I would much prefer real time as I am a beginner. It is great to have your explanations and information on what you are using as you go along, plus where to find things. Many thanks
This is just lovely and one could get lost in dreaming up a story to go with it. As for the video I personally would prefer real time drawing and painting. Thanks so much for a lovely video.
I just found this channel and I'm in love! Your style is something I have not tried before with ink, the continuous lines that make up the elements are enchanting. I will be watching your videos - normal speed or not - to study it :) Thank you for sharing this piece.
Thanks for watching, appreciate it. I will be making both real and sped up videos depending on the length. In the future I may do longer real time films if people want.
So, so nice. First time coming across your channel, liked and subscribed immediately. As a teenager, 55 years ago, I enjoyed drawing with rapidograph pens but then life happened (Army, work, college, marriage) as it does. Your drawing reminded me of my youth, I recently purchased a set of water brush markers and am looking to get back to creating. Thank you.
Wow, great! Thanks so much. I haven’t used markers a lot, hope they work out. I’m definitely no expert but I am so glad to inspire others to do their own thing.
The 2 times speed videos are just perfect! It is not too fast because I can still see everything i need to. And the voice over is also great, so calm and informative
Well, I don’t know about “master” but thanks anyway. I will try to keep up doing a mix of real and sped up time videos. I may do longer detailed ones later on if demand is there. Thanks very much.
I personally would like the drawing in real time sometimes. Mainly so I can have a realistic expectation of how it should take for myself. You have such a light and steady touch with your fountain pen that makes your whole process look effortless. Thank you.
First time watching your videos. Very relaxing and I like your style. I currently paint with watercolors but have been experimenting with drawing in ink and adding splashes of watercolor to the drawings, so your technique is perfect for me to watch and learn from.
Another delightful sketch Jim. I too have problems with colour and mess up many a promising drawing by adding paint. As for the speed? I think all your videos have been very watchable and very enjoyable so I think you have pretty much found the right style. It is inevitable that some more complex drawings will take longer but I am not a fan of the extreme ‘time lapse’ videos where the viewer cannot find evidence of technique, yours are very well balanced. As for the smaller window, maybe it was the sleeping quarters so less light would be required and a smaller window would lose less heat. Just an idea. Many thanks as always for sharing these with us🙏
Thanks Graham, appreciate your thoughts. I don’t enjoy watching time lapse videos either so I won’t be doing any of those. I am enjoying the kind of sketches I’m doing now, and viewers seems to as well, so I’ll stick to that mostly.
Fantastic 🤟🏻 Thanks for doing these… Very enjoyable 🙏🏻 Speaking for myself… 15 minute videos, is probably where you want to be… 2X is fine. An occasional “long format” would be good also 👌🏻
I was coincidentally, looking for a cottage to sketch/paint. So happy to have found yours. The timing of the video I think is perfect after all, we can always slow it down. Thank you for the inspiration.
Videos can always be sped up by the person viewing by going into the settings next to the cc and choosing speed, of course the the audio will be funky. I do prefer real time if I'm following along with the drawing.
Hi Jim! Thanks again for another fun sketch. I've been enjoying downloading your reference photos and doing sketches of my own after watching yours--it's really great practice!
Your video showed up in my video feed and I'm so glad it did; I've subscribed to your channel. I enjoy your style and really like the approach to your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your talent. I'm now going to make myself a nice cup of tea and 'binge-watch' the rest of your videos.
Hi Jim, I'm just starting to learn pen and ink with watercolor, I'm 81 and am totally new to any type of art. I enjoy your videos, and soft spoken words very much. I would love some real time videos, it would help very much as far as the whole concept of your style of drawing, which I love. Thank you for your great videos!
Hi Judith. I will make real time videos on occasion. If there is a particular video that you would like to see in real time, please let me know and I would post again for you. Art is in you, relax and enjoy it as you create, just doodle and let it flow :)
Absolutely beautiful sketching and a nice soothing narration, I liked this speeded up version and also like real time, just happy to watch and aspire to be a smidgeon as good as you! Thank you.
Hi Jim, great video, thank you for sharing it. On the timings, I think it depends on the subject and what your trying to achieve. For people drawing along, especially beginners, a sped up video can/maybe frustrating, the same could be said of complex sketches. If people are watching to relax, listen to the music and your voice over then it probably doesnt matter as much.
Thanks, it’s a pleasure to share. I had not thought of people trying to draw along with the video, good point. 2 x speed is not too fast, seeing how slow I draw, but hopefully I would hear from someone trying to draw along if they can’t keep up.
Hiya Jim, I've just found your channel and subscribed. I really love your work and presentation and I think that real time videos are the best by far. Thanks very much, David from England.
You've given a photograph life. I have no preference of 2X vs Real time....I make sure to have enough to enjoy when I sit down but the sped up sketching doesn't take anything away for me.
Thank you! I've just discovered your videos and I enjoy your minimal chatter as you sketch and wash over with watercolor. For me, I prefer a sped-up drawing, unless you are drawing a particularly demanding area, then I'm fine with having you switch to "real time" for just a bit. I guess I'm impatient; I find my attention wavering if every step is done in real time. Note: "Wavering" = "Falling asleep" :) .
Ha, we don’t want you falling asleep during the video. I will probably keep to only 2 times sped up, I don’t like the “time lapse” videos. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoy.
Newbie here! Great style. I want to go to that cottage and paint, maybe take a nap, and watch more of your videos! Thx for your time! I assume you’re using an X fine nib?
Thanks for watching. I never meant the videos to be “tutorials” but I am flattered that you use them like that. I am always learning myself as well. Any time you see one that you would like to see in more detail or slower, or explained, just let me know, I’m no expert but anyway I can help I will.
Hi from France. YT was right to suggest I watch your video, I thoroughly enjoyed it and subscribed to your channel. To answer your question: real time can easily be played faster by any user who does not want to watch you draw real time, but it's not as simple to make the video play real time if it's already sped up (and we would still lose the voice over).
Thank you for the comments. I will be doing a mix of real time and sped up, trying to keep the videos to a manageable length. I will revisit later on and perhaps do longer ones if the demand is there. I really appreciate you watching, enjoy your drawing.
I think sped up videos are great when just seeing how things are created but to follow along real time is best. Your videos are beautiful and appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks, I’ll be doing a mix of speeds, but nothing too fast.

Great, thanks for letting me know.
Beautiful and yes I agree I enjoy ink sketches without the colour . 😊
Thank you. Yes, there’s something about an ink drawing. I hope to do a variety of drawings for the channel, ink, ink and watercolour and ink and ink wash. They all have their own charm.
I’m ready to move in…nice. The speed is great.. thanks Jim
Yes, a nice cozy peaceful cottage.

If you go to settings and playback speed, you can slow down the video.
I love the long ones!!
Great! I’ll try to do a mix of long and shorter ones.
You really nail your angles and relative placements.
Thanks, most of the time it works.
Love watch you draw 🌟💫
Thanks, glad you enjoy.
So peaceful and a wonderful beautiful drawing
Wow! Thanks Jason.
I like 2x
Great work
Entertaining
Conpelling
Thank you.

Thank you for the kind words. I like both the ink drawing and the watercolour painting as well.
Thank you for this, I would much prefer real time as I am a beginner. It is great to have your explanations and information on what you are using as you go along, plus where to find things. Many thanks
Thanks for watching. I have been putting a list at the end of the video but I will try to talk about the supplies etc. during the video.
That was so lovely and very relaxing to watch, for me your pace is perfect 👌
Thanks for watching and the comment, appreciate it.
This is just lovely and one could get lost in dreaming up a story to go with it. As for the video I personally would prefer real time drawing and painting. Thanks so much for a lovely video.
Yes, it would be a good illustration for a story wouldn’t it. You write a story and let me know how it goes. Thanks for the nice comment.
A wonderfull little gem.
Thanks so much.
I think the format is fine. I enjoyed it. Thanks
Thanks, appreciate your input.
I like the sped up videos.
Great, thanks for watching them.
Like the speed you are doing this video
Perfect, good to know. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This charmed my socks off. Personally I prefer videos of this kind at around 10 minutes. Sped up or real speed - either is great.
Thanks for watching, and get your socks back on :)
I just found this channel and I'm in love! Your style is something I have not tried before with ink, the continuous lines that make up the elements are enchanting. I will be watching your videos - normal speed or not - to study it :) Thank you for sharing this piece.

Thanks, hello from Canada.
The 2 times speed videos are just perfect! It is not too fast because I can still see everything i need to. And the voice over is also great, so calm and informative
Yes, I thought the small speed up worked ok without overdoing it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Extraordinary videos! I would prefer a real time video tutorial like. Thank you for your patience and keep up the good work, master!
Well, I don’t know about “master” but thanks anyway. I will try to keep up doing a mix of real and sped up time videos. I may do longer detailed ones later on if demand is there. Thanks very much.

Calming-your voice is soothing-(is that weird?-lol), fun to watch. Thank you!
Weird if you fall asleep and miss the video. Thanks for watching and being soothed.
I enjoy watching your videos at whatever speed. I hold off on watching them only to make sure I'm fully focused on them
Thank you, it means a lot to me that you save them for a time when you can focus and enjoy the video.
@@SketchingwithJim-cv7nk Your pen and ink is superb!

I love your simplistic style and perspective on art, it's truly inspiring!!!
Thanks so much. I really love that I can share my drawings, and hearing comments like yours encourages me to do more.
