--------
In this clip, Tommy Davidson recounted the brief time he spent in the streets of DC as a thug-in-the-making. However, Davidson detailed how after being caught with a gun and being temporarily kicked out of his mother’s home quickly forced him to chart a new path.
“I ain’t stopped working yet”, that was a deep line cuz he was a taught a life lesson at a young age and still holding on to it 🙏🏾
This man life is several lifetime stories
🤯 and we are only at age 15 so far here
Yessss... you can't tell a book by the cover and that's for sure. Because if someone was telling me this instead of me reading hearing this from Thommy Davidson's mouth I will tell them they lying.
Talking and laughing is good therapy good medicine. God got you and we love you even more now. Blessings to you Tommy Davidson
Dc and dmv got some of the funniest ppl ever to do comedy. Tommy from that real dc Chocolate City. Bamma worked at the ihop in Wheaton , lol real shit. All time great comedian who don’t get enough love
Tommy's lucky he had dudes looking out for him and he became the comedian we all know and love .
@@JakeKoenig what are you alluding to?
Him receiving no push back was key to saving his life. Troubled youth are trying to find money and survive. Adding punishment is only going to deepen the whatever is driving them
He’s lucky he’s alive
Exactly!. I made a comment some time back on a post a while back about a woman being a "Karen" to some teenage boys who had parked improperly. And i said she missed a teachable moment with them. People were like what is there to teach blah blah. The first sign that they were teachable is that they said "sorry" for the bad parking. All she had to do was accept/or not the apology but explain how their actions affect others. But of course, she called the cops
@@demeraragold4644 maybe she called the cops because many times when somebody confronts young people, especially young men and if the person is white, they are called racist or attacked. Perhaps she felt safer calling the cops and not risking confronting them in person.
@@dudeguy818 both parties were white
Legendary brother right here...those stand up specials are classic
I aint stopped working yet. Listen up youngsters, take advantage while ur living under mamas and papas house. Cause once u leave, work aint never gonna stop.
Ain’t that the truth 💯
You influenced my childhood as well as all my friends. To us you’re a legend
thanks, I was just doing me

LoL
Because he was a thug?
@@Babs27 because he brought my homies and i countless hours of laughter. Him being "a thug" is his story, the road that he took to become who he is today...

This is the point I was trying to get across to my daughter. I grew up in Compton in an crack infested neighborhood, but I had a choice. I chose God, music, and education.
That's what life consists of: choices and circumstances. We can't help what neighborhoods we grew up in, the kind of families we were born into, our families level on the social ladder. (upper, middle, lower-class, poor) That's our circumstances. However, if you come from working (lower) class parents that impart middle-class values into you then you'll eventually more than likely elevate into a higher class and overcome a lot of obstacles in life that those around you couldn't because no one did that for them. Choices. Glad to hear you're passing those values on to your seed... 🙏
Great choice bro 🤜🏾🤛🏾
I never knew he was from D.C. that’s crazy. D.C. produces tons of celebrities. You can tell he grew up quickly, I bet he’s got an incredible story.
Born and raised in DC, though a different time than Tommy, I can relate.
Sursum corda
SOUFEAST, SOUFEAST!
@@dirtyd757 I used to walk through there on the way to work
Deion Sanders is that you ?
I'm Native American and frequented the Indian projects as a youth in Minneapolis and I can vouch for that "atmosphere" Tommy describes.
The ones off cedar? They got an army of 14 y/o single moms pushing strollers every summer.
Facts them Indian reservations usually b rough

Growing Up In NE DC I say The streets is like second nature. You gonna have your hand in the streets if you go to Public School. Maybe Catholic and Private can save you but Public school it’s evitable. Idk about stabbed but your guaranteed to fight a couple people growing atleast. It’s really a crab in the barrel Dog eat Dog type environment 🤷🏾♂️💯
Tommy didn't really grow up in D.C. He's from the Vanilla suburbs. Hell, he went to Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. That's not exactly Anacostia High, which is actually in the city.
@@darrylnelson05 I didn’t know they tbh I went to Coolidge myself I was just speaking in general
“I ain’t stopped workin’ yet!” I heard THAT, Tommy Davidson.
I like the way he relates all colors and cultures to the same when it comes the atmosphere people are around
Kicking your 14 year old out of the house, calling the cops on them & giving them the cold shoulder is crazy to me.
Depends on the fourteen year old in question, to be honest 😂🤷🏾♂️
You been to jail?
He ain't stop working yet.
Nah, mom kept it 100. She did what Black Mother's did back in the day. They didn't play. My mother did the same for me! That what we called Bitter Sweet Love back in the day!!
@@cappriment facts! Im surprised his mom even did all that lmaooo

Tommy Davidson one of the greatest of all time this guy a Legend for real
Tommy was broke into showbiz by The Fat Doctor DC's Top acting and comedy coach. The Doc taught: Chappelle, Martin, Tommy, and Patton Oswalt from the "King of Queens". He also worked with Wanda Sykes and Cocoa Brown.
Remember him from season 1 of def jam. One of the first few guests
@@Dutch3k5 Yeah, that was him. He was a great guy. Check out his last interview, it's on my channel. "Dave Chappelle's Mentor tells all".
@@1983jcheat cool will do
@@Dutch3k5 The doc talks about opening for Richard Pryor.
Dave Bautista grew up in simpler neighborhoods and he tells it straight up that most of DC in the urban areas you get out to the people who are blue collar workers those areas where crime ridden they were ghettos it's not like that now because everything's changed the older people have moved out the new generation has moved in a lot of housing Developments didn't it's all been gentrified it's better to a certain extent but for many years Washington DC was like that
Tommy Davidson @ IHOP:
“Collard Greens PICKITUP”!!!!💀💀
Real friends always keep it real 💯 all the way around wit u no matter what
as someone who grew up in dc after cpming from the suburbs, this title is the damn truth and it doesnt care "who you are"

This interview is 3 hours we are going to be watching, until May
I'm glad he's able to laugh at these situations and not let it eat him alive, so shout out to him for that alone
Yo Vlad great interview.
Wheaton, MD 📍
He should be been a king of comedy
Steve Harvey wouldn’t have allowed it
This story is so real for the people D C. It is normal to rob, shoot people and sell drugs in D.C. but still there are a lot of good caring people that live there .A beautiful but dangerous place to live .
Tommy Davidson seems like a cool guy. I use to watch him in different films growing up, never knew a whole lot about him. Cool interview, very informative.
TERRANCE OUT
We can learn a lot through Tommy's activities in life frfr
I ain't stopped working yet 💪🏿🔥

Shout out to Wheaton. I once muffed mad records from the Wheaton Library with my cousins, brother, and a cat named Latief. 😂😂😂 If anybody is familiar with the crew DITC (Diggin' In The Crates), Latief is the cat came up with the term "digging".
Pierre the comedian has a story about getting shot in DC. Lol this only confirms that DC was wild when comedians get attacked
Good dude
I used to go to that IHOP in wheaton all the time.

Couldn’t imagine him running around doing anything bad lmao
Many adults still think they are victims and blame, parents, society, another race, government for their situation. No, that is shifting the blame from yourself to others. You are responsible for th your situation based on the choices you make.

The fact that he was raised by a white family allows him to articulate black issues in a palatable way that white people can undeniably understand. I love that he has that skill.
You just described that perfectly
Where are his other siblings? How do they get along today?
Damn is this gonna be half the interview? Him talking about his crappy childhood? Get the good stuff! His career.

What Big Bill did for lil thug Tommy…change how you think…changes the way you behave
Nahh this ain’t it. “big bill” sounds like Cory Booker’s drug dealer friend “t-bone” cut it out
Can you explain?

This man is the male Oprah Winfrey I remember back in the early 90s she used to say everything happened to her I smoke crack I was molested I was raped and everything to gain sympathy she went through the same as him now is getting ridiculous and if he did go through it I truly feel sorry for him but what didn’t happen to you such a lost person
