- Tommy Davison, author of “Living in Color,” shares that when his white adoptive mother came to pick him up from school, his black friends treated him differently, and when he showed up to gatherings with his white family he felt like people looked at him with shame. Tommy decided to write his memoir to address some of the cycles of shame he was raised with.
