Bullying is terrible, but to bring up someone did when they were 10-11-12, and have it ruin their career is just crazy. We all do stupid things when we are young. If they were doing this when they are 17-18-19, then it would be totally different.
EDIT: Obviously the level of bullying must be taken into account. Taking a kids lunch money, or calling someone a name when you are 12 a few times, should not be treated the same as permanently scaring someone or s*x assault.

As a bullied victim I wouldn’t want someone’s career to be destroyed just because of what they did as a child.
I have learned to forgive and live my life to the fullest.
No one deserves to have their life destroyed in that way.
As a child I used to do stupid things just like they did. Additionally most of the bullies did such stuff because they had issues at home.
Instead of overlooking such issues at school when they happen they have to be addressed properly in order for such actions to be stopped.
Honestly it just goes to show how the school education system fails most students in the end of the day.
As a teacher now I realise that they weren’t bad kids at heart. They just had some non addressed home issues.
I always try to help out troubled students in any way I can as a teacher, and most of the time such behaviour usually stops after you figure out the hidden reason behind such behaviours.
Even if you were bullied you have to realise that many people have the same issues you have but they just show it using different methods at such a young age.
Korean culture is a very backwards culture. Instead of trying to help out its citizens they constantly just cancel them for minor issues.
Not to mention about how horrible their psychiatric care is in reality. They think that it is a taboo to go to a psychiatrist when in fact it could solve a lot of their current issues and help them out.

    • @samuraidestroyer4037
      @samuraidestroyer4037 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

People who think going to psychiatrist care is taboo, in a way to shame people who seek help from the psychiatric care. You know who should be a shame is the people who think it is a taboo because they are basically just shitting on people who want help with their mental health, the psychiatrist care exists is not because of taboo, it exists because it helps people's mental health and their well-being, it is just like medical care, it exists is not because of taboo, it exists because it helps people and saves lives. So at the end of the day, both save lives. There is no shame in seeking help from a psychiatrist. Also at the end of the day, if you want to be better and more robust, you need to fix yourself, it is better to improve yourself than not to improve yourself.

I see a lot of comments defending Kim Dong Hee, and I understand where they all come from. However, South Korea has an incredibly severe problem with bullying in primary and secondary schools - hence I deem it quite logical that his career ended. Particularly because young students should learn that their actions have consequences, no matter their age.
Completely shrugging off his allegations, without so much of a dent in his career, will only make bullies more confident and defeats the purpose of what S. Korea is trying to achieve. After all, bullying in any age can destroy one's mental health and to say that “he was only 10 and didn’t understand his actions” is problematic and insensitive to the victims who might’ve suffered greatly.
I’m not entirely sure how big bullying is in S. Korea compared to other countries, but I believe that it’s an escalated problem there - to the point where those of us who don't live there might not completely understand the whole issue. That’s why netizens don't want to support a celebrity that has a history of school violence (even if he was 10) and would rather he disappear entirely from the media world.
Honestly, I’m more surprised that Kang Jihwan only got three years probation (+2 years of prison if repeated) for assaulting two staff members? I mean, he even confessed so shouldn't he get prison time or a longer sentence?

While I do think he should face the repercussions of his actions, I find it unfortunate that his life/career has to end because of something he may have said/done *years* ago. I’m not trying to undermine the victim or the event in itself but think people do change, and that he for sure isn’t the same as his 10 year old self.
Obviously I don’t know how big bullying is in S.K. which is why I don’t wanna argue with anyone on it since I’m really not informed enough, but oh well.. I just think it’s kinda sad.

Yes, and why are they so adamant about how his acting career was ruined? He can make a career somewhere else, where people (especially victims) don’t have to see his face on TV. The bully ruined a part of someone’s childhood that shaped them as a person. He was only 10? What about the victim, they were only 10 too. 10 y.o is even more fragile to be facing cruelty from the bully.
SK is lucky they can filter their celebrities (far from perfect, cz sometimes unjust witch hunt happen, or the powerful one got shielded. But filtering out problematic public figure is a good move), show any 10 y.o children today, or any age, that they have to be good so no bad record bites their ass in the future. Unlike my country that celebrates and gives platforms to problematic people.

i have an impression that some people here think the bully is just being mean when the person was young...maybe because they don't know how serious social issue it is in Korea. growing up, the meaning of bully in Korea can be taking money from the victims regularly, those bullies know they are not gonna get consequences much by the law because of their age, they think it's cool to be a mafia, just pick on anything and embarrass the targets(victims) whenever they feel like( it could be like glue the victim to a chair or make them naked in front of others), constant verbal and physical harassment daily and hourly(such as shoving something gross in the victims mouth-could be bugs, cigaretts etc). When they punch victims they often say 'don't punch the face, just target the body so he can hide the bruise under the clothes'. I've seen a lot more and even just observed that could be traumatizing...it still bothers me sometimes that i could not do anything to stop those bullies doing almost criminal like behaviours to someone. Can you imagine what victims would go through after the experience? some koreans who don't advocate celebrities with such history when they were teenagers, it is because we don't want to promote the idea that when they were kids they can do whatever they want but they could be still successful in the future.

For kang ji hwan he was framed by the staff. The cctv footage of the staffs wandering around his house while wearing underwear was leaked. What kind of victim would wandering almost naked in her rapist house?? The conversation between the staff and her friend about how she shocked at how big his house also leaked. In facts it's normal for agency staff go to the celebrity's house. He probably didn't have any bodyguard at that time because the female staff is someone he knew or close . Kang ji hwan at the time was drunk so much at the point he blacked out. That's why he admitted to the charges because he didn't even remember a single thing. The staffs just want to take advantage but they don't want to take settlement money because the netizen will know their agenda. The case was still under investigation and just wait and see untill footage of cctv kang ji hwan's house leaked. For him he's so innocent that he willing to admit the crime he didn't do just because he didn't want anyone was harmed although he didn't do anything. Now i will just wait because korean netizen were already side with him.

It is not like it is going away for the one who got bullied, it will stay with them for the rest of your life. Only thing you can do, is give it a place else the bullies still win and it will control your life and you only have 1 life. It is more a forgive but never forget. lots of comments talking about kim donghee and how it's "unfair" since he was "only 10" do not understand the impact on victims of bullying. i was harassed by a girl when i was around 10 or 12 for about a year and it ruined my life. i became suicidal and developed serious mental health problems and anxiety that i still suffer from. if the girl who bullied me suddenly became wealthy and successful i would be livid. especially if they denied what happened and went as far as to try and sue me over it. he may be a different person now but you need to accept the consequences of your actions. he may have been able to come back into his career if he admitted and apologized but instead he filed a lawsuit against the victim. u deserve to be cancelled after that imo
edit: the people replying to this with their own experiences saying they're over what happened to them are f*cking ignorant. the point of my comment is that for certain people and in certain situations, the effects of bullying can be incredibly detrimental to your growth and mental health. just because you can forgive suzie in 6th grade for stealing your juicebox every day doesn't mean others can forgive their bullies for severe physical and emotional abuse

School bullying is no joke. My 10 year old brother was chased with scissors by an older kid and it is something he will remember for the rest of his life. But even so, the other kid has the right to grow and do better, and is. I won’t give up on problem children, that is how they get worse.

Why they waited so long to report Kim Donghee? Probably they were powerless during high school, and they couldn't do anything to him. Then his face pop up on the internet, on TV. Now, they got a weapon to punish their bully.

Kim Ji-Hwan's case is weird. There was CCTV footage inside the house that disputed the complainants version. Dude got a raw deal.
CCTV footage of that day on July 9th last year showed the victims A and B and Kang Ji-hwan sitting at a table enjoying a drinking party until late afternoon. Prior to this, Kang Ji-hwan and A swam at an indoor swimming pool inside his home. Later, Kang Ji-hwan "blacked out" due to excessive drinking and the two victims helped move him to his room.
The victims showered while Kang Ji-hwan was asleep and could be seen wearing only wearing their underwear looking around the house. Kang Ji-hwan had prepared special deposits to thank the victims for leaving the agency and CCTV footage showed them opening the envelopes to check the amount.
However, there was no CCTV installed in Kang Ji-hwan's bedroom where the incident occurred.
Sports Chosun was able to obtain one the victim's katalks at the time of the incident. In the katalks, B is seen jokingly having a conversation with an acquaintance the morning after the incident. In particular, B is seen explaining the situation to the acquaintance stating, "I'm at Kang Ji Hwan's house, "It's three floors with a roof top pool and an oncheon (hot spring)", "The house is f*cking amazing...!"

So he had an argument when he was 10 and people think that’s enough for him to be cancelled? And trying to cancel a MINOR because he drank alcohol. Yes it’s not legal, but did he hurt anyone??? Kids mess about, I’m not happy about underaged kids drinking and smoking, but it’s a stupid reason to hate them? Cancel culture is bullying and if you think ruining someone’s career over something they did as a kid is acceptable then you’re a hypocrite.

I think your comment excusing underage drinking or smoking as not a big deal cause others have done it was irresponsible! Just because others done wrong doesn’t make it right or should be taken lightly! There is a reason why there rules they meant to protect people! Using your platform that way is irresponsible and almost encouraging the young people to do the same cause like you said many others have done meaning it’s not a big deal! The truth is it’s a big deal hence why he lost his role!

No Disrespect to Koreans but I think if a korean actress or kpop girl group member have been involved to a bullying in schools before they suffer more and people wants to cancel them or wants them to be remove from there careers but if a korean actor or korean boy group member being bully before they just need to post a apology.

In the case of Jang Mi In Ae if the 1mil won was per month, I get what she means by it's a bit excessive. 1mil won in my county's currency is about 13k and that is way more then most peoples yearly salaries here, which is sad but that's the situation. I feel 4k - 6k (296745 won - 445118) should be enough per month, but idk, I don't pay bills, this is made up from my parents perspective

Why won't the agencies that sign and represent actors vet them and verify their background before they start getting big in the industry? I am all for exposing a bully but if the agencies did their due diligence before signing these actors they would save themselves a lot of time, money, and embarrassment. Also, the Jung Joonwon case where he was shown smoking and drinking as a minor that hurt his career does seem like an overreaction to us (mostly Westerners) but S Korea's culture is very conservative and him being seen engaging in those activities is taken way more seriously there than here in America or other Western countries. I hope he can rebound and resume his career though. I loved the K-drama THE WORLD OF THE MARRIED.
