    I don't think y'all realize how awful is bullying in South Korea, the dramas aren't exaggerating it, it is THAT bad. I hope Jisoo doesn't comeback on media and that his victims can finally heal.

      Yes, bullying is very bad in Korea. Sadly one of my friends was a former bully but luckily changed for the better. She is not a public figure too so it is all the past for her.

      And what do people do about it? Or the Educational offices or schools? What about each and one who becomes a witness to bullying? Does one report it to the teachers? What about bullying among adults at work? Is it still going on as it shows in the Kdramas? What about the army? Is it still allowed to hit and spank children or adults? Educating it is wrong is one of the ways. Punishment is another way. And, I am not talking about actors but about the phenomena in the society/'culture'/mentality.

      It's because in Korea they blame the girls/women's. For them they initiated the attack, they were in the wrong place,they wear revealing outfit,drank too much,flirted and the worst....deserve it. Girls from good background don't go to club,don't dates many boys only the one they marry, they aren't provocative,wearing short skirts and tights tops. Korea is not kpop that's why knetz dislike idols,for them girls idols are slut easy girl and the boys are gay.

      @@alecicruz388 the thing is, even after being convicted, those rapists don’t even get emprisoned for a long timem. Reminds me of this nasty dude who rped a 7-8 years old girl and got only 10 years and when he got out, he still had the right to live in the same neighborhood as the girl. Like every system is fucked up.

    • @imscenery
      @imscenery ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They treat basic financial crimes more harshly that being a rapist. Heck, it wasn't until 2013 that SK changed the wording of the law so that adult men could even be acknowledged as rape victims. And, in 2008, a man kidnapped an 8 year old, dragged her to a church restroom and tried to sexually assault her. When she fought back, he beat her, bit her face, and then choked her unconscious. Then he raped her severely enough that it required a minimum of 8 months intensive treatment and left her with permanent damage that was classed as a class 3 disability. He then left her under cold running water to bleed out. She had to tell her story in front of her rapist multiple times during the trial with a hole drilled in her stomach and 80% of her organs still bleeding wearing large pads that became soaked through while she was on the stand. The doctor who examined her said he should have been tried for attempted murder. He was sentenced to 12 years...why? Because he was drunk. In South Korea, being inebriated in any way is a viable legal defense and usually leads to an automatic sentence reduction because the person is assumed to be not in full control of their faculties - even though he was apparently in enough control to realise he needed to drag her somewhere there was no witnesses. I think women should start carrying around collapsable batons and a 5th of some kind of liquor. Beat the hell out of their attackers, chug the 5th, and then call the police on him.

    Wild that someone who was convicted for crimes including or better said against minors is still cast and acted in so many big productions (Again my life, The world of the Married, Vincenzo, The Veil, Vagabond, and many more) from major networks with big names...His career is thriving. While others like Seo Yeji and Kim Jung Hyung get canceld over their relationship problems. Sure, it was unprofessional to act the way they did and it affected Kim Jung Hyung's production and co-stars but it wasn't a crime and he even reached out for professional help because the had depression and was feeling very unwell at the time... People can seemingly redeem themselves from charges like p******tion with a minor in this industry but not stuff like affairs or toxic relationships is very incomprehensible for me...

By the time he finished mandatory military service(22months), Korea had turned on that crazy EX. There was hundreds of fans waiting outside the military base to welcome him back . He even made an emotional speech, that had some people crying. This was by far, the best/longest K-DRAMA ever.

      @@sanjeevprataprao710 somewhat? It's a very long story. It was proven that he didn't cause a miscarriage, but also he got back with her after she had sued him for assault and she got pregnant so I wouldn't say a big smart move on his part. It was said he hit her once on accident, but not substantial and continuous abuse as miss Choi claimed.

    • @Midalah
      @Midalah 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sanjeevprataprao710 for what she ultimately accused him of? Yes. The clip really glosses over exactly how much crap she put him through, but in the end, it was discovered that everything she claimed as "evidence" was faked and tampered with. I can't remember but I think she had to do some jail time too. Unfortunately, while his life is getting better, there are still people who accuse him of being a woman beater and make comments about his wife and how she needs to watch herself. I've seen videos of him at soccer games when he was with Choi, so if he did in fact hit her, it was in self-defense because she was constantly smacking at him. This is not me victim-shaming either, because if someone, male or female, was constantly smacking at me I'd get damned tired of it myself and defend myself. I believe even some of her supposed medical records of abuse were falsified. Sadly, he has never met his son from her. And it's sad because he has a little boy that was born last year and a lot of people keep slamming him as a poor father or saying things like "He was already a father" when it was announced his son was born last year. But Choi has never allowed Hyun Joong to meet his son, let along have a relationship with him.

    I think the Korean public needs to refrain from quick judgements, too many actors and actresses lose their lively hood because the public was too quick to judge. Which also brings up another point... Why bother having a court system if you allow the public to decide everything? The whole reason there is a court of law is because officials know all the laws as well as having the responsibility of hearing the whole story from all three sides... His, hers and the truth.
    And why is it the publics business to know their entire lifestory? They are hired to entertain us, not live out perfectlives... Who can do that?

Since that anonymous poster has remained anonymous, with no lawsuit, no damages, I am certain that it was staged by his attorney. Jisoo's middle school classmates stand by their initial statements. An MBC news program aired the accusations and stands by their journalism. I watched that program. I believe his victims. Jisoo's bullying was particularly sadistic and lasted for 3 years. Despite his youth at the time, decent people should be troubled by his behavior. He did horrendous harm to many younger smaller children at his middle school.

    For me, by far is that Ji Soo has lost his career for something he did as a minor. Bullying is schools happens, it’s a fact. However, the fact that Ji Soo was able to work hard and turn his life around was a good thing surely. Ji Soo was famous for a long time before he was given the lead role in River where the moon Rises, and I find it very strange that his victims only came out of the woodwork at this point. Ji Soo, also admitted and apologised - for his younger self. However, as I said at the beginning he had turned his life around - don’t we all believe in redemption, hope for redemption.

      Bullying isn't something that just happens. It's a serious issue. Victims of bullying commit suicide or have to live with anxiety and develop all sorts of disorders and depression due to years of bullying. Even if it happened in the past, perpetrators still need to be punished for it now. You can't ruin someone's life to the point where they either kill themselves or have to be on anxiety medication all their life and then get away with it cos you were a minor and "turned your life around". That's some bullshit. He changed? Good for him. But he still deserves to be punished for what he put other minors through. If he's guilty, then yeah he should be punished.

      I did not condone bullying. I said it happens - fact. Yes, ppl have been driven to suicide by bullies, yes ppl have anxiety and develop many other disorders. That doesn’t take away the fact that Ji Soo was a minor at the time he was bullying , nor should it mean that as an adult he should pay for his crimes as I minor, being a minor means you are not culpable because you are unable to or are unaware of the future consequences of your actions. I stole sweets from a shop when I was a child, so does that make me a thief for the rest of my life. As an adult if you commit a crime, you understand the consequences to the victim and as a perpetrator you understand what happens if you are caught. A minor doesn’t have that insight.
      Just for the record I was bullied not by my classmates but by my father and elder sister. I had nowhere to turn and was there victim even after I left home at the age of 15. Non the less, I stand by what I said a minor is not and should not be culpable. The parents, the school, the teachers - that is where culpability lies - not with Ji Soo.

      @staceej4948 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@rossjackie8805 it definitely means he should pay for his crimes even if he was a minor when he did it. Saying he shouldn't cos he was a minor is a dumb argument. Stealing isn't as harmful as causing someone to commit suicide. Neither is it as damaging as causing victims to develop depression and anxiety that lasts a lifetime or other psychological problems. Again, a dumb argument. The fact that he isn't a bully now doesn't change the fact that he caused irreparable damage to someone else who was also a minor at the time and has to deal with the effects of that bullying as an adult. Your growth doesn't change the fact that you in fact hurt people. And growth doesn't automatically exempt you for paying for the damage you caused even as a minor. Those were still his actions, not anyone else's. Not all minors abuse and bully their mates no matter what is going on in their lives. Not every minor enjoyed hurting others. And even minors know the difference between right and wrong and when they're hurting someone. So that's a piss poor excuse.

      Show business attracts a lot of narcissists. Sometimes women are supplied for actors and singers who just want sex and not a relationship. People in the industry who take care of actors and singers (producers, directors, managers, agents) know where to get these women. Some of these women work at prostitution establishments for the elite (rich and famous). These type of salons are supposed to be better at handling discretion and confidentiality of their clients. And sometimes famous performers mess up and get in trouble with meeting wild girls at clubs or elsewhere. Not all actors and singers are bad people, but just bc you're a celebrity doesn't mean you're an angel. Being a celebrity (as glamorous as it is) is still just a job, we all have jobs. After me too hitting even Korea, things changed, but back then, it was disgusting, how the public presumed him innocent beyond doubt, which is of course their right, but that turned the women automatically into liars and the reaction online was massive attack. Levels you never see even in some crazy soap operas. No wonder they gave up. No longer after, that drug scandal came to light, him completely hindering the investigation... It was too late to open the case again, but if this was know back then I think they would have been at least given a chance. From time to time, I can't help but remember the girls that were perhaps raped and then made into complete villains for trying to get justice.

      @pruit v3 Well, the fans are not exactly police officers investigating the case or genius psychiatrists able to judge the accuser from press release, are they? And when you don't know who says the truth, you can just not do anything. Instead of cyberbullying potential rape victims. I really find it hard to have any bit of understanding for such behaviour. It isn't condemning one or the other. But if I should still pick between further traumatising and attacking a potential rape victim and a singer getting some bad press for some time, I think the latter can live with it more likely.
      And in this very case, wasn't he engaged to some heiress at the time? Even if he didn't rape them, he admitted to having sex with them. Treating the women this way and acting like he was a Saint who should be protected by stoning the women, while everyone ignored his admittance that he regularly cheats on his fiancé with strangers (not a crime, but definitely showed he was not as perfect as painted to be).
