    I ride park in low and everything else in the high setting. The difference is quite noticeable. I hit pedals all day if I don't switch it.
    I have a size large AL29 and I'm 175cm. I would say the 150mm dropper is about 15mm too long for my legs but the rest of the bike fits like a glove.
    Incredible value and it's such a looker.
    If you order from Germany, don't expect great customer service though, they can be quite blunt over the phone. I got mine 3 weeks late but it was worth the wait.

    I've just got a Capra AL Comp 29er and its a weapon !. I'm 6'5" and got an XXL. The reach is great but I still wish bike designers would increase the stack hieght more proportionately to the seat tube hieght. The Capra has a 170mm dropper on it, but I still have 100mm of it sticking out of the frame which makes the handlebars a lot lower than the saddle. Put a DMR Defy 35+ stem on it which gives you another 20mm rise over the original stem.
    The bike climbs perfectly well, and is awesome decending. Cant wait to get back to the Alps with it next year.

    I think you got the wrong bike mate. You wanna cut the bar, you wanna pedal efficient, you want a bottle cage, you should go for the jeffsy 29. It's lighter, climbs better, narrower handlebar, and it has a bottle cage. OK it doesn't decent like a dh bike, but you don't live in the Alps...

    • @weskleveter5156
      @weskleveter5156 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can afford a 5 thousand dollar bike just to bike around on the weekend ...and go to competitions with...you don't need a water bottle cage...when you get to the bottom of the mountain you go eat a full course meal at the lodge and chill for a few hours... this bike isn't meant for a all day everyday...this is a race day bike. This is the bike you take off 40 foot jumps ...and is made out of the best materials for weight savings ..

    • @jamiedarlow3625
      @jamiedarlow3625 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point! But I really wanted to try and answer the question, can you live with a Capra if you DON'T live in the Alps or somewhere big.

      @weskleveter5156 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I wouldn't buy a 5 thousand dollar bike if I didn't live in the alps or casually rode off cliffs... it's really big overkill for a general rider.. plus the maintenance costs alone

    • @Angelosts
      @Angelosts 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Jamie Darlow
      At the end of the point its a personal preference. You can also have a dh bike and ride it to the city, but the point is to get something that fits your riding needs. I own a jeffsy and everyone asks me why didn't i get the Capra, and the answer is simple, it's too much of a bike for the places I ride. I would suggest you not to make any changes at all and enjoy the bike as it is.

  • @jamsxr
    @jamsxr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Love my YT Jeffsy but press fit is rubbish. I’m on BB number 4 in 2 years. Swapped to XT cranks and a Hope BB with threaded cups that have less exposed bearings - so far so good!

    • @jonathanhowson6420
      @jonathanhowson6420 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris king is the way forward mate. Their bearings are near indestructible, so if you expect to keep a bike for say 5 years before getting a new one then they will save you money. Hope are good but Chris king is a lot better value in the long run, especially if you factor in labour costs at the bike shop/value your own time

    The wheelbase on their website might have been measured at sag. The bb also get lower, the bigger the size. The stack height stays the same, but the distance from bb to headtube is longer, to the stack doesnt jack the bb up as much.

    @Mountain Bike Rider YT says there is 76 degrees angle on the seat tube. How did you measure 65?

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YT uses the effective seat angle, which measures it at a point where a horizontal line drawn from the top of the head tube intersects the seat post. Which is only relevant if your saddle height coincides with this point.

    • @marcinjonczyk6180
      @marcinjonczyk6180 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @gus6601
      @gus6601 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick proier I also thought about the strive and the 29er Capra (both great bikes for the value) but the reason why I chose the Cf Pro Capra 29 was because the geometry on the strive is very outdated I'd go with the capra

    • @patfish3291
      @patfish3291 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gus6601 My brother tested the capra 29 ( he is a bit taller than me and has even longer legs) for his legs he would have needed the xxl but this was too long for him ...the xl had the perfect length but was critical with the legs ... so its not the perfect geo for people with long legs and shorter torso.
      @Outdated ... I´am not 100% sure if this trend with enduro bikes is in every aspek good. In my opinion many companies went already to far with their geos.
      I would have prefer the capra 29 with a little bit steeper seat angle ;-) ...it would be a little bit better for climbing and would also fit better to my body :D

    Update on Yt Capra pro race 27.5 rear wheel spoke breakage is a pain in the ass, on my 6th spoke. YT have been useless unless I send it to Germany. Ha! So sending email to E*thirteen America and very fast return off spoke tension so bought a park tension tool and got everything spot on. Since then two more spokes broke so as its Christmas waiting for Email back to see if I can get a new rear wheel from Silverfish UK. Its not like I am jumping or rock gardens just forest trails but I do ride a lot. It is still a very impressive bike so will post if I get anymore back from the Hive.

  • @dit4963
    @dit4963 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    By simply mentioning the 65° seat post angle is misleading, because the bike has an effective seat tube angle of 75.5/76° which, for a super enduro bike, is really good for climbing.
    Compared with what bike do you consider this "really, really slack"? By comparison: Enduro 76.7, Slash 9.9 74.1, Ransom 75.5, Firebird 75.75...

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We would argue that effective seat angle is the misleading measurement. Manufacturers measure them in different ways - some to the top of the seat tube, some to a horizontal line drawn from top of head tube and some to an average seat height for each frame size. But a slack actual seat angle will push your saddle further back over the rear wheel the higher it goes, which is not ideal if you have long legs or a high saddle height.

    • @dit4963
      @dit4963 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MBRmagazine We can agree on that. Effective seat angle or seat post angle alone are misleading. Very few manufacturers are posting both of them (for ex. Trek). And even knowing both of them is not complete, as also where the seat post angle starts is relevant. But would still be interesting to know with what do you compare when you say that 65° is "really, really slack"? Do you have a standardized measurement?

  • @mralex5425
    @mralex5425 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Think you measured the seat tube angle wrong. The effective angle is posted on their site and is closer to 75. That would be measured from seat to BB, of course it breaks down a little as it changes with seat height.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's our point exactly. Effective seat angle is only useful if your seat height coincides with the point at which the angle is measured. Most people have their saddle higher than level with the top of the head tube, so their saddle will be further behind the BB.

  • @gameholic2
    @gameholic2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm not sure that's how you measure the seat tube angle...
    The kink in the seat tube will naturally give you a slacker measurement.
    Imagine a straight line from the BB to the center of your seat post clamp
    to get a figure closer to what Yt advertised.
    unfortunately the the angle of the seat post means that the taller you are the more relaxed the Seat tube angle is gonna be.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your last point hits the nail on the head. We know we're measuring actual seat angle, and, as you say, that has a big impact on the seat position for taller riders.

    I have had the same bike for four months but 27.5 and XXL and its spot on but I run Raceface 33mm stem and their carbon bars, Eagle 12 speed and tubeless setup with Schwalbe magic mary front and rockrazor, Ive had a bottom bracket fail so far and two rear spokes snap at the threads so went round the wheels with spoke tension tool yesterday and the high tension spec from e*thirteen 1200N and 1100N on low tension side. Forks I run MRP ramp control set at 4 with 60 psi and there great now and my own HSC and LSC and rebound as I run the same suspension on my Giant Reign last year. The bike is better than the reign through the bumpy sections and better feed back, I would go round and grease bottom bracket and head race as there lacking grease.

      evo nice, how tall are you?

    • @evo5349
      @evo5349 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      6'2" The suspension has taken a while to bed in but so much better that I have added 5 psi to the front and 20 psi to the rear. The sram code brakes are very good but threw in some sintered as that's what I run all the time and shimino ice tech discs and te never warp and cool very quick. I have cut spacers out of alloy 0.3mm to space out the pads after running for a while and they are unbelievable feel now.and bled the rear as felt there was some air. Its had its faults but would I change it, no chance. There is a section that I go through in the forest that has about 5 inches off clearance either sider off the bars (which have been cut to 780mm) off four trees so if you make a mistake your going to hospital, I hit 21mph through it on my Reign and the Capra 26.5 mph the suspension is so much better I couldn't believe it the carbon wheels are faster as run the same tyres as the reign, these YT bikes are a tool if you have the ability to use it. Lastly people always look at it know what it is .

      I'm sure you will feel comfortable, I'm 6'1" and I feel fine on the 2017 Nukeproof Mega 290, which is like the L Capra. Now, depending on what you ride, you could get advantages from a larger size. I was actually quite undecided between the L Nukeproof and the XL Capra 29, two bikes that I owned simultaneously for a while. The L Nukeproof was still a downhill beast. This guy's choice of an XXL does make me feel better about the XL. It's a progressive option I guess, to get a larger size and try to get used to it, to explore it fully. Or at least a trendy option.

    i think if your spending loads of money on a really light bike why the hell do you want to strap 5 pounds of liquid to it. bottle cages are for tramps to stick their can of special brew in...

    "longest travel enduro bike you can get" COUGH scott ransom (180mm) cough canyon torque (180mm). cut the bullshit mate. there's enough of it in the cycle industry already.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      must have missed the mention of the 170mm travel Ransom at 11.51 Canyon is not a 29er. We said longest travel 29er enduro bike, not longest travel enduro bike period.

      @TroggyPK 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MBRmagazine if it was mentioned why did he say it was the longest travel when its not. All i ask is for less bullshit end of. Theres enough of it already. Plus he didnt mention anuyhing about ot being the longest travel 29er he jyst said its the longest travel. Please don't make un backed up claims.

    • @MBRmagazine
      @MBRmagazine  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, fair enough - at 0.31 he does say "just about the longest travel enduro bike" with no mention of the wheel size. But at 11.32 he qualifies that statement by saying that at the time of launch there was no other 29er (excluding DH bikes) with 170mm of travel. Then he says that now it's been joined by the Scott Ransom and Whyte G170.

    Seat angles.... Neither are particularly useful (effective/actual). A better measurement would be BB to inline saddle centre rail at 750mm. That's probably a reasonable number for S/XL seat height averages. Bit of a faff to measure (but so is reach) as you need someone to hold the straight edge on the bike while another reads the angle. The getaround for that is to affix the gauge to the straightedge. Many dedicated gauges are magnetic so that can help. If you don't use such a method seat angle measurements are pretty much pointless. Get on it MBR.
