      right..... i dont get either why they dont get their facts straight or what they are feeling on the trail..... they also said that the transition patrol is the most progressive bike which has a nearly linear kinematic.

    • @faceblub
      @faceblub 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      i am assuming they are reviewing shock tunes instead of bikes.....the patrol should have a much firmer tune

    I have had my YT capra pro race for 3 months and came from a Giant Reign carbon with the factory fox suspension as the YT. The YT is 3 miles / hour through a tree section with 6 inches either side off the handle bars so no room for mistakes and 25 mph. I put this down to carbon rims my first. The x2 shock is very progressive and am running no volume spacers to get full travel and can hit stuff much harder than the Reign. I didn't run the eleven rear cassette but switched straight to Sram eagle 12 speed and Raceface carbon bars and 33 mm stem which is super fast but feels great. The code brakes are good but to much free play even with RSC adjustment so made two shims from alloy 0.3mm the same shape as the pads and took out the organic pads as there crap and put in sram sintered and superb and better feel. As I feel the guide brakes I ran last year where better except when they got very hot. I run shimano xt 203 ice tech discs as they take a beating and been running them for 5 years and they don't warp. I run maxis tyre minion dhf and Schwalbe rock razor rear in the dry tubles with stans race sealant. The fox forks are 36mm 180mm and have the modified bump stop inside and are superb and easy to service with no volume spacers but MRP ramp control with 60 psi and on my circuit bottom out once so using full travel and can adjust the last bit off the travel for wet or dry conditions with ramp control instead of LSC damping as the weather here in N/Ireland it rains a lot.

    It is about time we got a review on the best bike in the world. I had a Capra 27 for two years and now a Jeffsy pro race 27. I wanted to get this bike but it sold out in two weeks. I talked my endodontist into getting this bike and he is stoked on it. That rear shock takes some significant set up skills. Once you get it dialed in it is the best thing ever. Everyone I know that has this bike says that it climbs great. This bikes is almost completely sold out in the carbon models. I think this bike might be better in the CF of the CF pro for most people as the shock set up will be easier to set up and not so DH focused. The quality for value that YT offers is something you just can not beat. I can not see myself spending 10,000 for an Ibis, pivot or Santa Cruz. I hope more high end bikes become direct sale. I think this bike blow away anything else and that is why it is sold out. I have never seen this much demand for a bike in my 30 years of riding. Yes Will this makes you question what is value for money.

    Have you been to your local Santa Cruz or Pivot dealer. Those bikes are not moving and available. Almost every carbon capra is sold out. The pro race models sold out in two weeks. The Jeffsy is a sick bike too and I think it outperforms the Bronson. People still have no clue and keep buying these over rated bikes. Evil actually raised priced. Intense is getting smart and has gone rider direct. Bike shops will still help you out and will not refuse you service if you have a consumer direct brand. I am not a doctor or a lawyer and YT has made it possible for me to get a top shelf bike for half the price.

    Capra linear? Are you sure you got your "feelings" right?
    The suspension of the Capra, ignoring the shock tune, is one of the most progressive out there. For some real numbers:
    linkagedesign.blogspot.com/2018/02/ytalent-capra-275-2018.html
    Stefan Willared, the CTO of YT, confirmed that the bike is designed to work also with a coil shock. They just decreased a little bit the progressivity compared with the previous model as it was too progressive (75% - this is freeride territory). Same for the new Tues, as even Gwin, know for liking very progressive frames, thought it was too progressive.
    So you might want to check your shock setup if you feel Capra is linear or "not poppy".

    • @erod6468
      @erod6468 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this comment is old, but that biotch was very linear. On paper, maybe it was, but in the real it was not progressive at all.

    • @dit4963
      @dit4963 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erod6468 It's just basic geometry, not some spooky quantum physics. It all depends on the pivots placements. So I am not sure what you mean with on paper vs real... For me also in real Capra has plenty progressivity, I run it with coil (linear) and only bottomed out a few times in 5 years.

    • @erod6468
      @erod6468 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dit4963 I hit it hard up and down my local trails and bike parks and it was very linear. I sold it, bought a Evil insurgent MX and it's night and day in progressivity. Bottoming out has nothing to do with a "progressive" or "linear" suspension per se lmao! Yes, progressive suspensions will have more resistance to bottoming out, but it does not mean you cannot bottom out. Progressive in mathematical terms just means an exponential curve, whereas Linear means more a constant or straight line. That is the reason why anti squat was virtually non existent on my old Capra forcing me to reach for the lock out on any climbs whatsoever, while it is not the case with my Insurgent MX. On paper, the suspension on the capra was supposed to be very progressive, but it really was not when I rode it and setup my suspension. The suspension "lever" design on my Evil is so much more a contributing factor towards progressivity and I don't ever lock out my rear suspension except in the steepest of climbs. As someone who owned the capra, it just wasn't very progressive is all. That being said, it was a fun and cool bike. Have a good one and ride on.

    • @erod6468
      @erod6468 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dit4963 also, like you said, "it's just basic geometry, not some quantum physics" . Lmao! You're literally proving my point. On paper it seems it would have been progressive, but in the field, it was not.

    • @dit4963
      @dit4963 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erod6468 What? You mumbled a lot of nonsense out there... Bottoming out has nothing to do with a "progressive" or "linear" (except...a lot) , you mixed leverage ratio with anti-squat (they are 2 totally different things) and no, I did not prove your point lmao. Climbing on wellpacked dirt didn't caused me any problem, on more techy climb, you can definitely feel the 170mm in the back though. I'll rent a Chockwiz to try and get the best of my rear suspension, if not, it's still possible to upgrade toward a Fox X2 with a climbing mode. Weight didn't caused me much problem either, but keep in mind it's my first enduro bike and I never rode a trail bike in the 140mm so I don't have much to compare with. Hope it helps!
