i had a 1965 850 Spider. An Abarth version with 1000 cc engine was later available for more power. Loved the car but more power would have been great. I bought mine with a beautiful mauve paint job. Great italian design. The 1965 model had smooth rounded Porsche style headlights. A beauty!

I had one of these and loved it,beware of fuel pump seal failing and leaking petrol into the engine.

Actually a unmaintained distributor was often the end for those cars. If maintained these were nice running and reliable cars. The lightness of them serves the handling is great for cruising on b or c roads. You have to remember it's not a modern car but a design from the 60's. Congrats for that car you won't find anything like that today, everything is a heavy truck compared to this beauty.

When I was 15 in 1985 .y schoolbus route took me past a car much like this one, except it had glass covers over the headlights, kind of Porsche 911 ish, and it had a 1000 cc engine. It had an Abarth badge on it, but until today I never knew it was a Fiat! It was always just sitting in this yard, so eventually I stopped by and expressed an interest in buying it, but the owner was not interested. About ten years later, the owner let the local high school shop class work on it, but for a few weeks it was parked outside and unfortunately some kids on the football team thought it would be amusing to flip the car over on its roof, cause you know, it's light, and one of those damn foriegner cars! Inever stopped wanting one, but not knowing the brand made it tough to find another one, but an hour ago I saw one for sale on facebook marketplace, the seller is asking $3,500 for it. It runs, its straight, no rust, hard top convertible, advertised as being a 1972 Fiat Spider sport 850.

I have one in my garage right now. 1970 Fiat 850 Sport. Purchased in 1983 after I got out of the Navy. Twenty years ago, lot of parts available for them, not so much now. Be careful with the carburetor. It is a Weber 30 DICA. They only used these about three years only on this car. You can get re-build kit, but you cannot purchase the carburetor.

Great I hope its in better condition. I got the carb kit but have to see if it matches up. Been on other projects right now. Ill post up more videos as I go along.

Peugeot used those carbs, replacements are available beyond rebuild kits. And that rear engine platform, new replacement structural sheet metal are still out there,as the Soviets built more than one economy car off that platform. Think SEAT built a vehicle off that platform also, with new replacement sheet metal out there.

Your fuel filter is on backwards. But nice work getting it going. Shall we start calling you Tony now?

@@PRIMORR fuel flows downward? Not from the bottom up to carb?

Fiat, 1968 850 Spyder I've several fond memories of my favorite and first car. Yeah people said fix it again tony more often than not. So my reply to them was since it's the smallest piece of crap on the road it's only fitting to be known for being,

I carburatori vanno smontati e ripuliti prima di mettere in moto motori fermi da decenni, perche' nelle vaschette si accumula sporco che ostruiscono i getti del carburatore. Hai montato il Filtro Benzina all'incontrario !!
