I feel like the large majority of gamers are just not that bothered by ray tracing, sure it looks nice but i reckon so few would choose reflecty water over smoother gameplay
Yep
I would rather have constant 60 fps over realistic water or better-looking grass.
I like ray tracing effects but it should be optional, unlike games like Alan Wake 2 and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, where it can't be turned off.
It’s a pc feature. If you have a high end graphics card and a nice monitor it can be literally transformative in the graphical department. Ray tracing even being touted as a feature on current gen consoles is hilarious though.
True, I turned it off while playing dragons dogma 2 on ps5
The Arkham name doesn't mean anything anymore. Everything that name stood for is dead, quite literally sadly.
Tunic was a really fun game that definitely deserves a try, was surprised it was on GOG so I got it there, speaking of I was even more surprised that Plucky Squire will release on GOG too. Glad to see more indies making their way there.
Tunic was great. Played it on Game Pass when it first launched. Got all the achievements too which was incredibly difficult but satisfying.
I NEED to play that game!
Sony definitely does want to "update" Alloy design to most recent version)
Ever since the gamecube, sources have been over estimating the power of Nintendo consoles. Be prepared to be disappointed people.
Gamecube was stronger than ps2 and n64 was stronger than ps1. Until wii era nintendo was making high end home console hardware. Some of their games like metroid prime was tech show piece
@@hododod246 thats true but when project dolphin was a thing, rumors were around that it would have 800Mhz of cpu (higher than original xbox) which was about double what it shipped with.
gamecube was actually high powered, nintendo choose better gameplay over graphics the rest of the way but switch will be good enough for nintendo players
Think is switch 2 has to be powerful to keep up with games that are released on PS5/XBOX, if not they are gonna miss out on tons of titles.
@@WizelBalan Especially with the huge push on moving games to PC
Nintendo are so fed up with their things leaking online, they just let the switch 2 leak slowly and just won't announce it.
Pre-order live Today 8PM PST
Let Nintendo alone. T239 Drake GPU is 3 times larger than Steam Deck GPU but it's clock lower frequency because that batter in battery life than current PC handhelds
honestly, that would be pretty funny
We barely know anything concrete about Switch2 lol
Bro is nintendo
They still haven't told us if it's backwards compatible or not, I guess I'm not pre-ordering.
6:54 specifically he was saying to his source "what, like 800mhz?" and the Nvidia source said "lower". 600MHz gets you to 1.843TFLOPs (same as PS4) but with a decade of newer GPU architecture, DLSS and RT all for portable mode, and his report is 4TFLOPs docked, which does make sense given the matrix awakening demo rumor that it ran better than Series S.
Over the last couple of days that JC Denton hasn't been commenting the comments seem to be a lot better and less drama and less people claiming someone is an alt account
Wish I could block and not see comments from some people at TH-cam lol. Maybe including my own comments 😂

Fun fact about the Plucky Squire game Spawn, in case no one else told you yet, the art for this game was designed by James Turner, who used to be at Game Freak for awhile and designed a bunch of recent Pokemons and art for them. I think he left Gamefreak a year ago to work on this game, so I hope it becomes a huge success for him.
I can't be MORE excited for Plucky Squire!! I'll miss seeing James Turner's work on the Pokémon Games but I'm excited to see where his career takes him from now on.
I've never been more hyped for an upcoming game. The effort of work and passion that was put into this game is mind-blowing.
Strongly agreed!
Is it ps5 as well or Xbox only?
@@vemprite5698 its everywhere I'm pretty sure. Gonna play it on PC
I’m sure James is excited to release a game that runs better than 12fps.
Sony is becoming the master of remaking games that don’t need to be remade.
Its funny after 7 years of first pro and now switch 2 rumors, there is still no confirmed info. Might only take 3-5+ more years of rumors before its officially announced.
Are you gonna cover the CD-R incident with Limited Run Games? LOL
I dont understand why anyone buys from Limited Run anymore. This is like the 5th or 6th time they've fucked people over with broken or misleading products.
10:00 Starfield is the farm sim I loved and never asked for 😂 I lost the count of how many hours I was entertained with my outposts and eventually remembered that I had to save some people in Mars
Perfect I’ve been meaning to play Tunic so I’ll save that to the library
I could not care less about raytracing if Hyrule warriors still runs at 15 fps.
It wont be 15 fps lol it not even that low on switch its drops to about 20
Starfield is yet another game proving that buying a game at launch is a far worse experience. Than waiting a year to have the true experience
That’s modern gaming for you
There is no experience with starfield. It's genuinely unsalvageable. There isn't a single good aspect. There isn't even the tiniest diamond to find among the septic tank.
@MoistDampRat
to be fair, the faction quests & a few zero gravity moments are dope!
...still, no exploration & depth missing hurt Starfield hard, but DLCs & patches could "fix" that
I like starfield. But on my current tv. Best experience is 30. Due to it not being 120hz tv. So I can't do 40. Due to lack of VRR.
And The ‘true’ experience is still shit
I put Starfield aside about 4 months ago after putting in about 100 hours, mostly to take a break and play other games. I stalled going back in the hope they'd get us a 60 fps mode, thinking it wouldn't happen.
And here we are! Looks like I'll be jumping in soon.
Glad some people are finding enjoyment in this game. Personally would rather play skyrim and Fallout

The blue heart in Sarah Bond's tweet wasn't for PlayStation, it was for Blizzard.
Sony fanboys love to imagine lots of things , like Starfield on PS5 lol
I've been a Nintendo and Sony guy since the NES and the PS1, live a very busy life style loved the Switch since day 1 can't wait to see what Nintendo cooks up next, better be called the Super Nintendo Switch!
It's definitely puzzling that Sony isn't pushing the PSVR2 more by getting Batman Arkham Shadows. Heck I would've looked for a PSVR2 just for a remaster of Astro Bot Rescue Mission, but the PSVR2 just doesn't have any high profile games. I think the closest they have is that Horizon VR game. The PSVR2 is giving me serious VITA vibes right now.
Poor Batman hasn’t been mistreated on this scale since the Joel Schumacher days, 😂
I never lost hype for or a game that quickly.
I think Batman Forever was one of Joel Schumacher’s better movies starring the dark knight.
Think about it. What is the one game where ray tracing is a true WOW upgrade: Minecraft. Why? Because with Minecraft being a simple game graphically, lighting effects can be more bold and affect more of what is in your eyeballs. Then look at Nintendo whose brand is of simplistic looking games and characters, but up until now with no ray tracing. This means we could be looking at an era where Nintendo’s games actually look better than most AAA titles because they aren’t over burdened with all those textures. And Minecraft RTX has proven that textures don’t mean much compared to shockingly good lighting effects. Could be an interesting game cycle.
The Horizon remaster should have a 120fps mode for a different experience. Now that I'm on a PC I play differently. There are things that I am now doing because of the higher frame rate I would not have attempted on a PS4. It is nice being able to see what's going on when you are moving fast.
Nintendo quality control with current gen graphics could have very pretty results
My PSVR 2 is the biggest dust collector!

On Switch 2 regarding docked/handheld performance profiles, I hope it has an in between performance profile for playing in handheld mode (lower screen resolution) yet being plugged into the charger cable (max CPU/GPU). That's how I play 99% of the time. Or a way to force the max performance profile even in handheld mode.
I’ll check Starfield out now with VRR. I see this as a win for the game as I was wondering why they didn’t have this option available from the beginning, but I’m glad it’s here now.
I barely played the Horizon series. I just sort of sampled it when it was on sale.
I am halfway excited for Batman VR on the Oculus Quest 3.
The thing about games on Quest is even though we have dozens of high quality games streaming from a desktop PC through Virtual Desktop and Steam VR, your best experience is actually still games running natively on the headset processor because you get insanely low input lag.
Quest 3 is a really good platform. I bought one this year, and then bought a Quest 2 to play multiplayer with my wife. Current VR is way more impressive than I would've ever thought.
It’s Nintendo, so we always set our expectations very low. But remember this time Nvidia is really the one doing the cooking. LET THEM COOK.
Thank you for everyday reliable gaming news!!! Coffeee breakfast and newswave before work!!! Happy Thursday y'all!!
Imagine switch 2 putting out 1440p docked
Nintendo wanting a quiet fan for a system that'll probably need a jet engine for proper cooling is crazzyyy 😂
As far as i know batman arkham shadow has been working on for 4 years and its being made my camaflaj which did iron man vr which was really good so im excited.
Completely unrelated but the Pokemon TV show soundtrack on Spotify hit me the feels on my way to work.
6:22 Nintendo will have the hardware capabilities of the current consoles again, while still being portable? That seems maybe too good to be true. Maybe the dock will have hardware built into as well for docked exclusive features?
Calling it Switch 2: 😴
Calling it Project Reality 6: 😎
most people are stuck in 2016 when it comes to VR.
Modern VR is completely different now.
I actually think AI upscaling or intelligent frame creation is a lot more important for the Switch 2 than Ray tracing.
Ray tracing is still fairly taxing even on the Xbox Series X.
I just randomly decided to look up the release date of Megaton Musashi Only to realize the games already out... did anyo e else know? I feel like no one covered it

He was the same guy saying the PS5 was RDNA 3 when it wasn't even fully RDNA 2.
He got one thing right that was recent about PS5 pro. Other than that everything he spewed was never right.
18:19 why did you expect sony to care about the psvr? Theyve never done well by secondary devices:psvr 1 and 2, psvita, psportal, the eye camera, etc.
If its not a mainline sony console, sony cant do anything with it.
psp?
Ive been waiting for plucky squire since its first trailer i hope it makes this year
Devolver Digital has their own showcase so I'm sure that's where Plucky Squire will appear.
I'm thinking Sony might have drastically cut the VR divisions budget. Other than that, maybe they just dissolved PSVR Division. There hasn't been anything happening on the PSVR front.
People on gaming forums are going to complain about a down clocked switch 2, but the reason i play more indies on my switch than on my steamdeck is both for the battery life and because i hear absolutely nothing when playing and the machine doesnt get warm so i am way cool with subpar rez while on portable mode. That said, Series S level of performance while docked is welcome for triple A or 1st party BIG games.
EDIT: Also i trust way way more the standby ability of the switch than the one on the deck to be honest. I had a couple of crashes directly to steamOS that ruined some sessions.
I thought the green and blue heart looked more like a reference to Master Chief and Cortana
Remastering to just the next gen is not a Remaster, it's just an update like with Witcher 3.
Horizon Zero Dawn remaster?? Is it that bad over there
Nintendo should allow a toggle option for handheld mode to clock it or not.
I really wish Sony wasn’t about to give Horizon Zero Dawn a remake even though I love that game. It’s an fortunately lesser beloved franchise and it doesn’t need the controversy that The Last Of Us remake got.
HZD could use something.
The animation of the characters skin look waxy and stiff.
I doubt the stiffness will be fixed, but the quality of textures getting improved wouldn't hurt anything.
@@tomgames8616 yeah technically there are some improvements they could make since some time has passed but there are still other Sony IP’s in much more need of a remaster than H:ZD. I just hope this franchise doesn’t start getting any hate because of it.
RIP "portable mode users" who were looking forward to the Switch 2. lol
Grasping at Switch 2 straws should be sn Olympic event.
Forbidden West looks and plays better than Zero Dawn, that's true. But the main character Aloy herself is the odd exception. Sony, please don't alter/update her model in Zero Dawn, she was fine as she was then. Horizon is my favorite series from the Playstation, loved everything, except Aloy's current puffy face like she has the mumps for the entire storyline of Forbidden West.

NEW FUNKY MODE
Great announcement for VR. I am really, really loving my Quest 3. It’s become so much more than I excepted. This whole time I was in the “meh” camp. Granted I love VR and my psvr but was never really sold on Quest especially after the Oculus fb buyout. But now I’m glad I got it. So much stuff is on VR. But it’s just one of those things that you’ll never even know nor realize unless you got one to spend time with or tried it out. I kept discovering more as I went along. You can show off a tv in a few minutes but definitely not the Quest.
7:26 actually it's clocked at 460MHz when running games like TotK/BotW, MK8, Odyssey, and many others. But you're right: saying it is below 800MHz means nothing actually, as it could be 650MHz (half the docked clock that would supposedly give us 4TF) and that would be huge considering what 99.99% were expecting from it in handheld mode. It's like MLID doesn't understand how the Switch works with its 4 clock profiles (3 for handheld mode) and the different resolution targets between modes. No one who understand the basics would be surprised by half the clock in handheld.
Moore's law actually said "probably be better at ray tracing than series s" he didn't indicate he heard anything about it.
He's wrong 99.9% of the time. Better believe anything posted on 4chan.
Tunic is awesome.
Ray tracing? LoL. Just getting 60fps patches for Switch 1 back compat games would be good enough for me.

VRR kind of makes the question over whether or not to lock to 30 FPS null so I don't know why we don't have more game developers allowing for an unlocked frame rate with VRR. In my experience it's a perfectly fine way to play. I'm sure Microsoft has better information than I on what people's TVs are capable of to know it's not worth pursuing though
Good question, I wonder If Xboxes report back on the displays being used.
It's why I specifically made it a point to get a VRR TV for games which do use it. So I'll definitely use the 40VRR mode on mine as I seen videos on VRR and 60 VRR is only useful for 120fps Displays while 40 works on 60fps.
The Horizon franchise is so fun. Really loved these games. Something about the world building thay captivated me
Can we get shoulder swap button for Starfield
Anybody else see the tetris handheld from 7-11? It's in the shape of a slurpee cup.
[EDIT: I shouldn't have paused the video to post 🤦]
Hear me out, John. We know that there is a Horizon Zero Dawn re-releases headed our way. Maybe its coming sooner than expected? I could see Sony trying to shore up sales of that re-release by removing the original from their service. 🤔
The New Starfield update is great. This is something that the game should have launched with.
Yeah that stuff about Horizon is perplexing??? Almost like Sony is trying to milk every single dollar out of their existing hits to avoid trying to make something new. Right, of course, I forgot my talking points "exploding budgets and costs, 10-20 year development cycles..." There.
I don't understand why Sony just doesn't revive Killzone. We all know Shadowfall was a disappointment, but Sony could just have Guerilla do a big remaster for Killzone 2 and 3 for a collection or something. They were supposed to be Sony's answer to Halo, and while I don't think they matched Halo, they were still pretty fantastic.
What about a remake of the first Killzone?
I like the style of the PSP Killzone Liberation
Killzone, wipeout, twisted metal (would have been a perfect launch next to the tv show), sly cooper, jak n daxter, Little Big Planet, SOCOM, heck theres even some games that are no longer on PC but live on PS store nos like blacklight retribution. Take that game and slap a campaign and fresh coat of paint and you got an easy COD contender. They've held back a lot for sure and we should have had some of these by now.
Its just simply man power. There is no studio/staff available to make these games. As these games get bigger, the amount of staff required increases, the amount of time and thus the budgets. All these games are now taking 4 years minimum to complete. The only recent AAA game that took just under 4 years was Jedi Survivor and that was a buggy mess
Nintendo has reminded me since being a Switch owner is that gameplay comes first and that’s how it should be, frame rates don’t matter to me as long as the frame rate is smooth, otherwise i don’t care if a game runs and 30 or 60fps.
What's the Switch Lifetime sales at now?
It's at 139 million currently. And fun fact: It's still outselling the Xbox Series X/S, including in North America.
Even though as per MAU reports, Starfield was the most-played Single Player title last year, I wonder if it would have faired even better if it was delayed to 2024 with all these updates.
Back in 2020 Sony gave away a bunch of free games on their PS store for a limited period of time including a couple of first party titles, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted Collection and Horizon Zero Dawn, I downloaded those on my Playstation, I have them stored on my external hard drive, will Sony go back and revoke my purchases so I can't play them anymore?
