- With Nintendo completely shutting down the 3DS and Wii U, it looks like a strange situation has popped up around purchased DLC. EA revived Dead Space with a remake last year, but it looks like things aren't going how fans were hoping.

Loving my new V1 Switch. Totally agree. Although definitely still support the indie devs.
I would agree, except if you read the terms and conditions for digital purchases it says it may disappear if the services end. I am in no way agreeing with it but they is their legal out with this. It sucks.
I really like the Dead Space remake, expect charging $70 for a remake is beyond stupid!!!!

@@johnfech3985 I don't care what their Jew ToS says. It's mine after I pay for it, period.
Who is even paying for EA Play? Most of their library is old Madden and FIFA games that Gamestop won't even bother trying to resell, and the big sell for it is being able to play games that you're purchasing separately a few days early. Some people shouldn't be allowed to use money.
I pay for it indirectly. I have gamepass ultimate which includes ea play. So although I don't really use the ea app I'm included in their numbers I would imagine. And I'm guessing I'm in the same boat with a few million people lol. But it does actually have a few other good games. Pretty much the whole need for speed franchise, The dead space series, dragon age, both the Sims and simcity games. And for people who like it the sports games. Other stuff too. So I could see why others might want it. For me it's just a bonus with the gamepass subscription.

I don't want any new games for old badass western IPs being made by modern devs... they will just destroy them. Time to come out with new IPs too bad these new devs seem to lack the creativity to do that though....
@@jimmycarpenter6612luckily that catalogue of their old games that are good can be bought for $120
It seems to me that early access is basically a streamer tax. They are the ones who would benefit the most form having the game early, so it's kinda like the companies getting a piece of the bits/subs
I wonder if they will ever start putting expiration dates on games meaning once expired the game is gone.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where there’s a will, there’s a wEAy
It would be more honest
If they do that they will effectively cut their sales in half or more heh. So I doubt it. Buying any digital content is not a good investment and never has been. It has no material presence. Expect to be robbed outright many many times in the future. And all of you are domesticated to accept it. Nobody starts any movements to deal with this. I've only seen one for The Crew. Nintendo needs to be stood up to about this SSB stuff as well.
PS Triple had a function to check expiration date on your downloaded game. Usually it just said Expires: - .
Who the heck is subscribed to EA anyway ??
I only do it occasionally when they have something I wanna play like Dead Space so I don't have to buy it but usually only for one month out of a year
It's included in gamepass, so in a way I'm subscribed to it 😅

More like normies who play shitty games. Oh and Sweet Baby Inc lol.
If I buy a Gold, or Premium edition it isn’t for the early play, it is to get the Season Pass.
That 3DS Smash issue reminds me of halo 3, after the server shutdown many lost their Recon armor since that required a server check. This is why we shouldnt rely on servers for our games content.
What's the solution to that problem?
@@robertfrost8264 For now modding is the only way to get them back, but its an annoyance we shouldnt have had to deal with in the first place. Games shouldnt have any aspect restricted to an external server, be it in game content and yes even multiplayer.
I still play Team Fortress 2 on my Xbox 360 and thats because it has peer to peer multiplayer rather than us connecting to some server Valve would have to keep running. Its better in the long run.
@@VEN0M415p2p is godawful in the long run so servers for multiplayer matches will always be necessary (for active games). when a game isn't being actively developed and supported a p2p solution works because the superior dedicated servers aren't necessary, there's probably going to be less players anyway. your content and progress should always be stored locally though
@@slaypartyof course p2p isn’t good, however I think every online game should have it as an option.
Because we know the servers will go down. And maybe people still want to play, though few.
Most streaming services went up in price, except Tidal. Tidal emailed me that they are combining their subscription tiers into one, and that's at the base tier price.
Which just means it will go up later instead, "because of the value that was added earlier".
Shutting down servers in fifteen years, you estimate? That's at least reasonable. I got WWE2K20 to be able to play as the Fiend Bray Wyatt as that's one of the couple games he was in. I purchased the physical game in late 2023. Three years after game release. They have already shut down the servers for this, denying me access to the part of the game you have to play to unlock said Fiend Bray. So even with my physical copy, only three years into existing, I don't have the full game. Ridiculous.
yeah, people complaining about the servers shutting down.... it's been 15 years, come on. That's more than enough time and probably those same people barely ever use their 3DS nowdays.
You bought WWE2K20?! Three years late?! The WWE game that was so thoroughly busted it inspired TWO Jim Sterling videos AND a Wha Happun?! The game that caused there to be no WWE2K21 for how awful it was?! I pity you.
@@CarbonRollerCaco I know, I heard about all that. I just wanted to play as The Fiend.
@@mos3That… wasn't the guy's point. Despite WWE2K20 not exactly being a shining example. We're talking about preservation and future use here. Not everyone that would ever be interested in gaming will necessarily be alive during a lot of the hits' heydays, and even many that will be around for certain games can still end up missing out on them for one reason or another; other things in life happen. And who are you to decide who plays what when?
@@CarbonRollerCaco I'm not telling anyone what they should or shouldn't play, I just think people over react to this. If it was Steam shutting down for good or something like that, then fine, that's your CURRENT game library, I can understand that. But the 3Ds and the WiiU? Isn't that pushing it a little too far? Nothing lasts forever. And it's not something exclusive to digital stuff. I have physical copies of PC games that don't work anymore because I guess the file system of newer operating systems can't read those files or something like that. There's no point in me complaining about that. If I want to play one of those games so bad I can always emulate or find a tutorial on youtube or something. I'm guessing this same thing must've happened with the wii? So why be surprised now when again, the services and/or the digital store for a very old console shuts down...
An all digital future is the total opposite of game preservation

God, I hope Nintendo (or the Japanese media) doesn't reject physical games in the future, and I hope that the next-gen Nintendo console isn't the last physical system.
That's my three fears about the next-gen Nintendo console, Denuvo/DRM crap, lack of backwards compatibility, and digital only console.
Tell that to PC gamers. Pretty much every game is preserved digitally and with a little work you can get any game you want to run. The distribution method isn't actually the problem here, it's overly aggressive DRM practices, planned obsolescence, antiquated copyright laws, etc.
Physical doesn't preserve games either since hardware gets damaged and breaks over time.
@hist150project5 Uh-oh, that's not a good sign for physical games!🥶
Is there any way we could prevent physical games from breaking out overtime?
Is there any way we could prevent disks from rotting?

Damn you Nintendo Fanboys for not buying and playing Dead Space remake.
Even physical copies of games don't come complete anymore. At least in the XB360/PS3 gen, most games would have a GotY edition wherein dlc was installable via 2nd, 3rd, etc disc. I miss that gen. Hopefully Nintendo has invested in cartridge expansion R&D where if a user downloads dlc and/or updates, it'll download directly to the cartridge and not the system's memory.

My benchmark for an open-world game is: Can you swim and explore underwater? Additionally, the underwater setpieces should enhance gameplay. Once again, what's the definition of an open world? I've been eagerly awaiting a genuine single-player open-world Star Wars game for so long!
It's high time for every single videogame company to be held accountable for their dirtiest business practices, not just Nintendo, Ubisoft and EA. EA: why didn’t Dead Space sell well?
Also EA: releases Dead Space in one of the most consistently stacked years for game releases of the past decade.
January 2023 wasn’t stacked and was a decent time. The only noteworthy releases were hifi rush which was niche, forspoken which flopped, fire emblem and persona ports which are a different audience from dead space. People simply didn’t support dead space. This was the game to gauge interest and consumers didn’t vote with their wallet.

Backwards compatibility is more important than ever now. The Wii U and 3DS being completely isolated from next-gen is really why this is a problem. If we can play Switch games on the next system, they'll have to keep them working as long as the next system is around, not just the old Switch.

Good morning all!!!
3 Day early access means nothing when the games don't come out complete anymore. Nobody should be buying a game on release day anymore since its not going to be done for several months still. These companies need to learn that selling an unfinished product has consequences.
I hate how Ubisoft keeps making online required for single player games. Gotta make sure people can see the in game shops they love to put in. I still buy most of my games physical cause where I live internet is not good and it will take forever to download digital whereas with most physical releases have the whole game on disc aside from a few and I can just pop it in and install offline and play til I can update later

Don't forget you can't install the game without internet connection for the DRM. Meaning the disc is completely useless. None of them sold altho not a single one was a live services game or had mtx.
As much as we blame EA, on some level it's kinda our fault they're the way they are.🤔
Although I do agree we as gamers hold some fault, none of these were marketed well. It’s hard to buy a game when you don’t know about it.
EA has also destroyed their reputation for so long, why would we expect people to jump right on these games. They have no one to blame but themselves. Maybe if they keep making games like this, people could eventually come back around.
Yeah, it's the CUSTOMERS fault EA makes mediocre games that don't sell well and it's the CUSTOMERS fault they don't trust EA anyways! 🙄
"Blame the customer!" is the anthem of awful leadership and often times stupid, reactionary people that don't have a clue what they're talking about.
You failed to mention the thousand other reasons gamers (rightfully!) aren't interested in EA *anything* and how EA has NO ONE to blame but themselves for their reputation as greed personified.
Yeah "poor wittle EA", after nearly twenty years of being total gaming ass cancer, they FINALLY got a reputation so bad, even "decent" games don't sell well. And your "solution" is blame US for it?
GTFHO.
@@jessekoepp3928 🤨How did EA get to be 1 of the largest 3rd party publishers?
Did they hold a gun to customer's heads over the last 20+ years?
Or is their current state due to customer behavior over that same timeframe?
@@jessekoepp3928 You can only blame the corporations for so long, if consumers didn't buy in to these kinds of practices they wouldn't keep selling them, so yes the consumers do hold some level of responsibility
A portion of your audience may very well have no clue what you’re talking about when you mention cable packages…
Just rember that Star Wars Outlaws is a Ubisoft game, so it should be down to $15 6 months after launch
I really want Dead Space. But having limited disposable income for games is holding me back until I can jump on a sale. And even then, my backlog of games and time to play is a factor for me personally
"Yo nintnedo we got problems yo, lets go brah"
don't ea play come with gamepass.does that mean gamepass will go up again?
Yes its included with gamepass ultimate.
Did SBI get ahold of Prince of Persia? 🤔
I really hope that they release a patch for Smash 3DS that lets the DLC be downloadable, otherwise I'm going to be really annoyed if I can't download my DLC I paid for if I have to reset my system or something
In the UK the price of EA Play went up by an insane 80%!
Im so devastated by dead space 2 remakes fall.
I'm not a fan of increasing resolution if it negatively impacts performance.
Can't you download DLC with a modded Switch? I think I have done that with Persona Q2.
I'm not a huge fan of Survival Horror games and I just don't have time to play it.
AAA companies just need to dial back the money invested on a single SP game. At this point, all that money they invest it's just diminishing returns
Speaking of the early access costs - I never considered this as I would just wait for release day, and with so many games being released in a bugged state one cannot justify paying extra to play jank. The gaming industry should focus on releasing complete and working games before considering early access. The backlash and long term implications are not worth a few extra bucks for short term gain.
