As a regular NJ Transit rider - let's just put it this way - when it's good it's decent. When it's really bad - it's one of the worst experiences ever from a commuting perspective. Conductors who don't announce stops, automated announce PA doesn't work, employees who give you attitude if you ask a question (I can't even imagine being a person who doesn't use NJT regularly)... and on and on. Oh and then when they announce what gate and multiple trains are delayed, it's like everyone wants to get off the Titanic. Only to see at your gate, the escalator down isn't working - and a train on the track next to your train has come in at the same time, so people are using the steps to come out to the waiting area. Then when you actually get to the platform - and you see only parts of the train are open (when you need to be in the back of it) . They cram you all into 4 cars of a 12 car train. Oh and you better have your ticket activated BEFORE you get on the train because God forbid you don't and you'll get serious sass from one or two agents. But sure, keep hiking up my fare. NJ Transit... it's the way to go (cute slogan).
Fun fact. The gov and their puppets in the media often blame the temps, the climate blah blah. Same people work and live in the very same area as the New Haven line which largely runs on overhead wires and is extremely reliable. The issue is not any of the things these people constantly say. It is the the type of overhead power lines and the system that is used on the NE corridor. Its specs and infrastructure is ancient and terrible. It is truly amazing how people living in the same metro area as this rail system can not ask themselves how come New Haven, metro north, lirr, amtrak up the hudson, amtrack up the shared tracks with New haven to boston etc does not suffer the same way. Instead they listen to the lies and brainwashing from the gov agencies and the news. Go to Penn station for the morning commute and watch the delays and cancellations when its not even hot out. Then at 4pm go GCT a short 15 min walk away from Penn and watch the New Haven line during peak daytime heating. Use your brains people.
I said the same thing when they said Amtrak wasn't working between New Haven and NYP. New Haven Line was running. But the issue was around the Hells Gate Bridge that day. Metro North splits off by New Rochelle. Another time was in the winter. And Amtrak NEC service was suspended. I went on the Train Time app and Metro North was running. I said something isn't right. So I drove in that day not wanting to risk it.
I commute daily from linden to my hometown Jersey city where I work and sometimes nj transit can be my worst enemy with delays sometimes it's the path train that takes the cake
It sucks I take the train everyday n everyday it sucks but let's hike up the fare so people can pay more for horrible service I wish somebody rich would start their own train rail so we can get to places on time. Between delays no announcements being made dirty stations dirty trains clueless employees and idiotic engineers who can't drive a smooth train it feels like bumper cars all the time I can't tell u what's worse

My Grandma passed away in 2003 but my best memories with her was taking the NJ transit to south orange NJ coming from East Flatbush , Brooklyn 💔

Good call on the reporter’s part sitting next to a cute guy.

NJ transit is worse than India's railroad
What's it really like? Mostly awful and occasionally good. After 13 years of riding the rails to NYC everyday, I said adios and moved out of state.
The windows are often crusty and grimy, and they need to be fixed.
Who is the news anchor on the left with the light yellow blouse? Fox are hiring new hot young anchors?
Wall of shame
