I started riding this route back in 1999 when I was 5 years old so it always exhilarates to see old videos like this !

Can anyone give me more info about that Septa AEM7 leading comets past Rahway? I thought they only went as far as Trenton from Philly!

Nevermind! Asked and answered by the engineer in the video. "See that septa consist? Amtrak's borrowing it I guess, you know how they borrow the MARC equipment sometimes? Yeah they got a Septa train today"

This was the only time a video was made of me operating a train in my 40 year engine service career. Retired 9/1/2011.

So back in 1997, this trip took half as long as it does in 2023? Way to improve service.

Was this filmed from the cab of an AEM-7 Loco, or the front window of a Silverliner? This was almost 30 years ago. Are you still a train operator?

Arrow III. They could still run down to Long Branch before NJT changed the voltage. I forget if South Amboy or Matawan is as far as they can go now.

Judging by the date in late November, probably an Amtrak Thanksgiving weekend extra with borrowed equipment.

@@ajp31 or a Clocker, which often borrowed commuter equipment.
