So interesting at that time Parica has prominence in Billy's pov next to Mike. Almost like Efren hasn't crossed the horizon. But it won't be long before he does. Big time. Really interesting how Billy's commentary has been so consistently the same over the years. Buddy's too. Listening to them today vs back then, they sound the exact same. Voices don't age! This is great stuff!
Efren had already been competing in the U.S. for seven years by this time. Believe me, he was already near the top of everyone's list of great players, but he was not quite as successful in pro tournaments as guys like Sigel, Strickand, Varner, and Hall.
I haven’t watched many of these matches but Siegel is the only player I’ve seen smile.i understand that it’s a serious thing but it’s good to watch someone decently laid back and enjoying the play.
@@ralphwiggum240check out his new pool game. Shoot or dare! He also has an absolute wealth of videos on his channel, everything from lessons, story/history telling, etc.
The rules in 1992 allowed a "jacked up stroke" even when there was a slight space between the cb and ob. The cue ball had to slow down for a legal stroke. That type of stroke today is a foul, but not in 1992.
Pat, when did Buddy start to slide? I saw him breeze through the U. S. Open in 1998, but after that I don't remember seeing that much of him. Was it health related issues or just a matter of advancing years, or a combination of the two? And when did he last seriously compete? I'd love to see more of his matches, as IMO in his prime he was the best nine ball player I've ever seen, bar none.
ah yes. no stupid pre shot routines. no walking around the table 20x before every shot. no annoying British commentators using snooker terms while watching pool.
Fun to watch! This was after Mike had lost a step or just lost his love for the game.. Not sure? I've heard almost every top player of the time when asked who was their toughest opponent? Mike Sigel's was the answer... Including Efren Reyes who admitted that Sigel was the only guy he never once beat for money.
Buddy said CJ was unhappy about the 2 ball shot, CJ was pissed about Sigel moving the 8 out of the corner pocket line incase he had to bank the the five back to him in corner. And sigel knew it was seen that's why he didn't bank the following 5 ball ! If he'd of banked the 5 it would of been undoubtedly done on purpose an he knew it.
Absolutely, looking for this comment. They may have been playing the 45 degree rule like they do at the Derby City. Double hits don't count when jacked up.
2 way carom on the 9. with a built in safety 6 behind the 8 ball. due to the fact that the 8 became a big ball because of the 8 ball position. cueball touches the nine it slows the roll of the cueball.
sIGEL WAS KNOWN FOR THIS. PROBABLT DOING IT MORE SO TO GET ON THE NERVES OF OTHER PLAYER. ALSO IF OTHER PLAYER WAS HOT AND IN STROKE, THE DELAY GETS HIM TO "COOL DOWN" REALLY BAD SPORTSMANSHIP BY SEGAL AND ALLL THE TALKING AND DELAYS TO DISTRACT MENTALLY.
Shits the 9 in to get to the finals, then shits the 9 in first game vs Davenport in the finals, luckiest guy to ever play pool, lethal combo, one of the greats combined with luck
Is Billy watching the same match I am, he said CJ did not do anything wrong in those games 4, 5, and 6. Are you kidding me, after he went up 3-0 he missed 2 or 3 easy shots, and hooked himself a couple times, while also playing a couple bad safeties, so CJ did a lot wrong in games 4, 5, and 6.
Billy whined so much when Mike hooked himself in the last rack, I'm sure he must have had a sizable wager on the outcome. "I'll never understand why he shot it that way" Buddy was laughing at him..
God CJ's game would be so ultimately sexy if he did not chalk the stick the way he does, playing way too fast and loose with this fingers for my liking

Buddy has a genuine laugh, such a great commentator and player.
ya i dont like the other guy he sucks tho
I came for CJ's hair...I left a satisfied customer.
That black Brunswick is sweet
That's the first thing I said lol
It also seemed to be a little tighter than the other standard Gold Crown's they played on back then. .
Glad to see CJ Wiley play.
heard of him with cue stick promotions b ut this is first time i saw him play. only reason clicked this video.
internet and accu-stats are awesome
What a way to go out with a bang. Incredible!

Man! McGiver can play!
That's because he understands the science.
This is back when Sigel didn't take 5 minutes to shoot each shot. Wish they had more of these on demand at AS.
We have some more. 🙂
These guys would of been my choice for Mosconi cup when it started. Buddy, Mike, CJ, Johnny etc.
Those kid disrespect Sigel cause they never saw him play in his prime.Dude was a monster back in the day.
Both players in this match seem "accelerated". They probably weren't sleeping or eating that much either 🤣.
@@sdickinson5234 naw CJ is clean, so is sigel. CJ is a multi black belt in over 6 disciplines
I want to see an early 90s mullet showdown between CJ and Rodney Morris
Hahaha now that would be a good contest lol I was just at Rodney and Johnny new sports bar but his head was shaved
Hahaha! The super deluxe feathered version both treated with VO 5 hot oil treatment. Nothing like a beautiful mullet blowin in the wind
CJ wasn't in Morris' league
For a while, Skyler Woodward and Billy Thorpe were fully representing for the 21st century.
@@neuvocastezero1838 yeah but those were ironic mullets. I wanna see a "sincere mullet" showdown, lol
back when I first started playing pool...enjoyed this. Thanks for the upload.
Not sure what the rules were in this tournament, but at 25:25, Sigel moved the 8 ball with his cue while pocketing the 5 ball.
Nice Catch! Ref and everybody else missed that foul.
@@AccuStats looks like Mike asked him if he wanted him to move it back and he declined.
cue ball fouls only
Not sure what the rule was then but now it's loss of turn and ball in hand
He was gonna bank the 5,but he got caught, that's why he didn't bank it!

I used to work for CJ at his north Dallas night club, Carson’s. He whipped everyone’s butt I’ve seen him play. Talented indeed.
can you please tell us what year was that? adds to the rich history.
That Brunswick model is by far my favorite table of the hundreds of matches I’ve watched. It’s beautiful

Great match! Thanks for the upload!
Our pleasure!
Thank your Mr Fleming for these incredible matches,is there any chance you could upload sieges games from his prime years the 80s
We started late in the 80's. We have some in '89 that will be posted.
I was there, never missed a day! The Bike, Commerce, Crystal Park we had some good pool for a while.
U goooooo McGiver!!! 😎💪
Go Mike, love his style of play. Buddy Hall love his laugh. Billy as well. Soothing talking. Makes the match more enjoyable
Great Match!!!
Nice to see we finally got this 11 years later from this channel first released the preview 😂
FREE didn't pay so good 11 years ago.
49:54 "now that's a nice shot of his dome, look at that" 😂😂 well timed. Funny
This match is the best example why rack your own is so much better.
Parica was the reason they had rack your own. He used to Mud Rack his opponents all the time.
CJ Wily: secret best of his time
I haven’t really seen CJ play much but getting smoked by prime bustemante is pretty standard for most of the world. Even with the 7

I didn't say he wanted it. I said he played it.
I didn't like Sigel's choice on that shot at 1:52:00, but I saw that 9 ball shot as clear as day. Beautiful win.
Once again Buddy your right ? Imagine that
Majestic mullet.
2-9 zone safety play at 3:45. fantastic reply by CJ Wiley
The mullets doing all the work. CJ is just holding the stick.
Full match of davenport vs wiley please

Cj was one hell of a shot, my hat is off to him
But he played way too fast and it costed him many games.
Great cue ball control too
Please someone tell why 1:26:13 double kissed ball was not a foul???
Might have been frozen so it would be legal. McGiver didn't look at it and Mike didn't seem to call it frozen. I think it was a foul.

Really like to watch the young Sigel
All that rackin crap drives me crazy.
Me too! At the International, a ref racks with a template. The players cannot inspect the rack. They must just break the balls. MUCH BETTER!
Got any Jimmy Moreno?

If there is ever a movie about CJ's life, the main character has to be portrayed by Theo Von
Nothing worse than losing to someone who just rodeoed the balls around on the final game
