Absolute legends, both the commentary and players!!
Great players, match, commentators, commentary and great era. A true gem. thanks!
Couldn't agree more!
Gotta love how Bill and Grady just constantly roast each other the entire time....Good times and great commentary as well, the best of the best....
Grady was a brilliant wordsmith. “cavernous receptacles”for pockets lol
ACCUSTATS is the greatest video producer ever.
I always play better after studying Buddy's stroke.
it all ways amazed how close he held the tip of cue 2 his hand i couldnt make a ball that way but he could
Love watching Buddy play. Quick decisions and shoot. Great cue ball control!!!
We need more of these old videos!❤
●●● Suspenseful, and very entertaining. A belated congrats to Buddy Hall. And, as always, thank you, Pat!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@AccuStats who one final hall or archer
@@tgh223Archer won the final, 2-7, 7-6, 7-6.
Race to 13 winner breaks. Those were the days..
two great players, two of the best in the booth...is there a better sound than a well struck ball hitting the back of a crown pocket?
None!!!
Yes, the jingle in your pocket from winning.
Never even played 9-ball before, but this match got me hooked and I’m excited to play and learn more!
i will teach u race to 5 100 a set
@@tgh223 I'll take that
Thank you for this classic match!
Buddy has the most beautiful smooth stroke..
42:07 Hall as player summed up by Grady. His position play is so precise, always on a string.
I second favorite commentating team closes followed by Billy and Danny lol thanks a lot of this one Pat see you Thursday for one pocket
Sid Waddel also one of great commentator,
Great match. This game truly is an art these legends make it look easy!!
Great match, all great friends
58:50 Damn that 90's style, women looked stunning!
A "sultry siren," according to The Professor!
Please more of this old stuff
Every Tuesday from now on. That's Treasure Tuesdays.
@@AccuStats can you please play the Jimmy Fusco vs. Kim Davenport match from the sands? Thank you.
Thanks Pat this is a great birthday gift
Happy birthday!
@@AccuStats thanks Pat
The big difference today is the break. Corner ball in and cueball up center table on the 1. Nowadays its mostly a break contest. Fabulous play by 2 of the best. Thanks pat.
I disagree, somewhat.. Rack templates are the great equalizer in today’s game… Which is why alternate breaks is employed..
Back then, a guy like Varner would get that corner ball going and it was over.. Which is why he won 13 out of 26 pro tournaments one year..
2:13:51 ahhh the good ol' days when you can smoke indoors during the tournament
Oh yes I was puffing 2pk habit..
How times have changed? Looking back at this I was just out of high school and pool was something people played in the Clubs and Bars. You could smoke in grocery stores and there were NO cell phones.
It's interesting how times change SO MUCH! (Not necessarily for the better. 🙂)
This is Great! Thanks Pat!
What a match! A match like this is why you watch the pro's.
Beautiful!
3 players I've always been obsessed with their Strokes buddy hall Earl Strickland and Efren Reyes no one else. Ironically buddy hauls the greatest 9-ball player. For the money in the back room Efren Reyes is the best all around player ever and Earl Strickland's the best tournament player ever.
Mike Segal might have something to say about who's the best tournament player!😉
There are toooo many people that would differ.😢😮
@@StevenNorko differ about what they proved themselves have you seen them play or have you seen footage. Obviously the majority of people would agree with me. Do your research.
The game has evolved so much these 2 in their prime would get smoked by players now only a couple people who wouldn’t such as Efren Reyes and earl strickland .
loving these classic matches, pool players now days, arrogants some not all of them, maybe Strickland, from old school
Great play by both guys
The whole match is an exhibition on how to properly strike the cue ball. They control the speed of both balls on every shot. They take careful aim and maintain your basic fundamentals all of the time.
It sure is… Two of the best deliveries ever.. It’s all about the right arm!.. Unless you’re one of those freaks (lefties)..
and the proper
way to chew gum
... the Rifleman beats the Colonel... fantastic games..😊😊
29:33 what a nice shot 👌
I miss Grady.
Grady was a legendary character.
Great match
Cavernous Recepticals.......😂I Love Grady!
Great match,,,
thank u all so much for this video
Our pleasure!
@17:49 what a great 2-way shot.
Grady: "And I've never been more exciting..."
@2:19:40 “he got away with murder there…” LOL
@21:11
Is that the same table Efren hit that Z shot on?
These players play with a lot more spin than pros nowadays.
they have 2 these tables and cloth was slower back then
wonder what kind of cue buddy was using
34:52 wow, that table need some leveling.
great match, stand up to shake the man's hand though, Nick!
Nick was probably thinking..."lucky....lucky....lucky." No shame in losing to Buddy.
@@lindastevens3547 totally agree Buddy is a legend, but yeah he definitely got a lucky kiss in the last rack
ahh the days when you an smoke indoors to calm the nerves
36:44 Dude in red flipping off the camera while sitting next to a Jeff Foxworthy look-alike. Lol.
The table that they are using looks to be the same one used for Efren s "Z" shot.
Super sultry she was. Just saying 😂. Now... This was a great match. The battle of egos and opinions also works for the commentators. Both great players. I almost miss this way of professional pool. It just seems more natural.
Efren changed everything!
Lol.. Efren had been around for a decade by then, and he notoriously ducked both these guys his whole career..
Efren definitely the best all-around player of this generation.. But he couldn’t beat these guys playing 9-ball.. No way..
@@jacobjones5269 porque?
@@Eduardo-uv6ns
No hablo espanol..
@@jacobjones5269 Why do you say that efren would not beat them?
@@Eduardo-uv6ns
Because he didn’t break well enough.. I watched Efren decline Buddy’s offer to play, and I watched the only time they did play for cash.. Nobody beat Buddy playing 9-ball..
Really, brother.. Buddy, Nick, Sigel, and Johnny all played better 9-ball than Efren.. Earl too, but he was a head case so Efren would play him.. lol..
There’s a reason why those guys won way more tournaments than Efren.. Don’t believe the hype..
Can you imagine the uproar if these 2 arrived on the tour today?.. The first thing that would happen is rack templates would be banned.. lol..
I was about a year old when this was played😄
Me too! 😁
Wow. I was 44.
@@AccuStats not many folks in my generation are pool fans, but I watch all of your uploads! Keep up the good work!
Thank you. Enjoy them.
I was -7 👍🏻
@13:30 as Grady says, Buddy beat everyone for any amount of cash, even Efren. the REAL Goat.
So the finals between buddy hall and johnny archer, anyone know who won that match and what was the score?
Yes, Archer won. 2-7, 7-6, 7-6.
I don't know but if it was in the back room for real money buddy would wax him no one beats buddy hall in gambling
@@richardcerritelli9657 come on don’t be stupid in pool anyone can beat anyone at that level
Golden Age of Pool..
Could you imagine if these players had a 30 sec shot clock?
they would shoot the same pressure dont bother this level so with that being said they dont have a shot clock so why bring it up if u dont like these free video dont watch it
Did Grady say anything that was correct when disagreeing with Billy ?
He's always like that.
who won hall or archer
Archer
TH-cam keeps freezing. Internet spotty today. Aug. 3/21
Sorry to hear! Check back soon. This will be here forever.
I think you should have to win by 2 in pool line tennis 😂
We tried it. Not received well.
2:18:49 look how the tip comes almost all the way out of his hand on the backswing
i know buddy well he used to tell me to hold the tip closer to my hand and make a shorter stroke it worked for him but i never could hold the tip that close to my fingers and shoot but i loved every time we played lots of good memories
If you had me sitting for a long time and then called a bathroom break when I finally was able to walk to the table then yes, I would be on a side table practicing/getting loose. After all, you would have been the one calling a pee pee break after your shot and right before mine.
Not enough powder on the table. WTF????????
14:11 double J lighting cigarette
These commentators crack me up
@2:00:50 kind of a dick move by Buddy.
Wow
I think it is apparent that these two commentators hate each other. Lol. They really don’t like to agree on much.
Not really.
Watching warner or archer is just painful.
WHO EVER SAID A GAME OF 9 BALL TAKES 5 MINUTES WITH VARNER AT THE TABLE WE WILL CELEBRATE A COUPLE OF BIRTHDAYS HE SHOULD KNOW EVERY SHOT 5 BALLS IN ADVANCE
Varner doesn't thing he plays slow.
Varner was painfully slow.
Buddy Hall - overweight AND smoking. Could benefit from some life-style counseling. In those days, you did see players smoking, but not so much nowadays (2024). Also, not so much noticeable overweight, glad to see improved health for these guys.
Back in the late seventies and early '80s Joshua filler would be getting weight in 9 ball against buddy hall for the money in the back room Shane would be getting the eight. If you doubt me just ask Efren or Earl buddy was unbeatable for the money in the back room in his day no one today can have a chance even Dennis would get beat for the money.
Must. Mute. Commentators.
@ 2:11:11 the score is 11 11....
(Yeah... I got a thing... lol)
All you have to do is compare Bank accounts!😮😅
Thank goodness for the mute button.
Are you kidding? Maybe the best ever!
I think the commentators jabber too much with personal comments about the players.
Not to mention they say many stupid things.
That table rolled horribly!
And then you had Ron Rosa who whipped Buddy badly......find it on TH-cam
That's Rosas by the way, and it was one tournament match, Rosas had no shot at Buddy in the back room for the cash!
She's a very attractive woman 😂 can't say these things nowadays
Hard to believe nowadays. She would have loved the comment.
@@AccuStats she definitely would have for sure
Yeah because it's irrelevant and uncouth
Buddy never shoots a hard shot....
War doch klar Hofmannsthal ist ein Versager 😂🎉
Sorry, but the commentary is mind numbing.
the camera work is disappointing at times because we don't see what type of English is being applied, or the stroke, not even the aim. 1992, here we are with phones that take better video of your bulks.
You're talking about our video of 30 years ago when no one else was doing it other that a few million dollar broadcast companies. You should have been happy with what you got. Of course, I know the capabilities of cell phones. Thank you!!!
@@AccuStats it's kind of a facetious comment.. lol -people are ALWAYS ignorantly ranting upon quality and i do laugh and mock them moroons.
@@AccuStats I am pleased pissless at all of any footage online.
My apologies. I missed the meaning. 🙂
