I'm so happy that you love "Not Today" as much as you do. It's 1 of my favorite title tracks too, and yet I feel like it's severely underrated or not talked about as much in the ARMY fandom. It's 1 of the most epic and hard hitting songs I've ever heard in my life.
I listen to it a lot, especially when I need a dose of defiance... Which is often. It's so good.

When I first started to hear BTS, this song was it for me. I started following them when Black Swan came out, so back in late 2019 early 2020 and if that peaked my interest Not Today totally sold it for. The day I heard Not Today was the day I became Army 100%. Till this day it's one of my top 10 songs of theirs and I don't predict it will ever leave that spot no matter what songs they release. It will always have a special spot in my heart and a song I always return to when I need an emotional boost.
@Tete12390 yes! Me too, I was brand new, I had watched like two other mvs, I'm not sure which ones, mic drop was one, but I watched this and that was it, done, an army forever!

yay not today is my all time fave bts song. as a disabled person who deals with a lot of pain and struggles and ends up fighting against depression due to how my life just fell apart, this is the song i put on when shit gets too hard and i just want to give up. i love dope too, but not today is the song that gets me to hang on and keep fighting.

I love early, earnest, hungry BTS. And I love watching early performances and then Run BTS (the song), live in Busan. You can see how they've grown as a group. They're less desperate now, looser, but no less dedicated, no less passionate, and they've grown so much in confidence and self-assurance. It's really neat to see. (Another great way to see that is to watch all 3 live performances of Born Singer, in order.)
I love that you watched Dope twice. There's a lot to take in! For all that it's really fun there's a pretty solid social message in there too. BTS had a lot to say. 😁

Given how you react to songs, I think you might enjoy grouping them by theme... The comfort songs are beautiful in a very different way, and I don't think you've touched those yet. (They're mostly best to watch live, because audience interaction is a huge part of songs like Magic Shop and Mikrocosmos.)
Not Today is one of my favorite doses of defiance. I pair it with On. I think by the end of Not Today you want to charge into battle with these guys and by the end of On you believe in your own ability to survive anything.

In this song there's not the craziest rap from the rap line... You have to react to their cypher 1,2,3,4.. Outro tear stage performance and their solo rm with joke.. suga with daewhi ta, August d n jhope arson and so on... Their rap are craziest good...the best rap from kpop as I known

There is SO much that you still have to discover from BTS! Thank you for appreciating their hard work and musicality. There are many k pop groups out there but BTS is a genre of its own. If you enjoyed their choreography you will really enjoy BTS best dance breaks as well as their dance practices. If you like, you can incirporate that into your reactions and watch the practice after the mysic video. There you will see a lot more footwork that you miss during the music video. Dont worry about pausing a lot, ARMY enjoys watching with you. We just get irritated with reactors who skip parts because that is how they miss important parts from the videos. You should watch “war of hormones” by bts next. It has a similar musical vibe to Not Today. It’s my favorite bts song, but a lot of Army’s dislike it because the lyrics are controversial I guess. But I don’t have a problem with the lyrics.

Dope was the first song of BTS I ever listened to back in 2015. I haven’t stopped listening to them since. Bring on 2025, it is going to be awesome.

These two songs are awesome and always put me in a better mood. Not Today has fantastic, empowering “stronger together” lyrics and some of my favorite & imo most representative BTS lines ever, like the one you liked “trust the word ‘together’, trust it’s bulletproof” and “See, we couldn’t fail cuz our faith is entirely on each other”. They are all very talented, but I think these two songs reveal the keys to their immense success: hard TEAMwork & trust in each other.

So, as you may have read in other comments, Dope is about hard work and the mentality of the "adults" in Korean society about it. The younger generations are called the " given up generation" as they don't "work hard enough" to get themselves basic things in rights such as a house for example. And they are attributed a number (n) referring to the things they gave up on (n po-sedae). Sam-po-sedae (Sam=3) refers to millennials who gave up on dating, getting married and having children. Oh-po-sedae (Oh=5) refers to millennials who gave up on all of the above (3 things) + employment and housing. Finally there is Chil-po-sedae (Chil=7) which would be giving up on all of the above + human relationships and hope. Basically, due to the difficult and hard economy and society, young people are giving up on their dreams and hopes. Even if the song is very upbeat and may seem a bit silly, BTS almost always talks about very important topics. I loved your reaction and will be waiting for more.
And maybe "DARK&WILD" is a BTS album you might like.

Two of my favorite hype songs, whenever I need a boost of energy, fighting!
When I was studying for my bar exams I had Dope, Fire, Moon and Mikrokosmos on a loop for months. Moon and Mikrokosmos to calm my stress and Dope and Fire to keep reminding myself that all the hard work would pay off in the end. I discovered BTS halfway through law school and I like to say they got me through it. 😂

Not Today will always have a very special place in my heart. It was the very first song i heard from them, that i discovered by accident after listening to gangnam style. And it was the best accidental thing that happened to me 😂.
Dope: The song introduces some hard-working kids who pride themselves on fighting for what they want, rather than having it handed to them easily. A stance on sacrifice and hard work.
Not Today: In a reworking of the words that Martin Luther King gave to college students during the Civil Rights Movement, this song encapsulates the same message and energy of those times but delivering it to these new generations.
