Nathaniel Rateliff's music came to me at a time in my life, when I felt he was speaking directly to me. This past year, I saw him play in Sydney, Australia. His last show here, (hopefully not forever). After the show, my wife and I caught a drink in a neighbouring bar, and within a little while, we saw him and the band go into another pub. Perhaps I was embarrassed, but I didn't take the chance to thank him. For being him. For making the music he makes. His is the music that has been playing in my wood work studio as I create. Thank you Nathaniel. I hope you feel the appreciation for your creative works! We can forget how by letting our light out, we inspire others to do the same. Keep creating. It matters.
The people through that door in the background have got to be clueless about life if they are not in that room listening to the most talented singer songwriter I have had the privilege of listening to.

Unfortunately he isn't wearing a flat bill and singing about drinking moonshine in a lifted truck banging drunk chicks. Only people with great musical taste can appreciate this. It's obvious our numbers are dwindling.
I'm one of those that prefer his solo albums, but I'm glad he's blown up like he has, and more people have heard his music now. And on a side note, his latest album is beautiful. But this video is definitely a gem.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I kinda give up on radio, corp music after the payola scandal and really have a hared time finding new great artists and performers. Literally discovered Nathaniel Raiteliff less than a year ago and and dying that I did not get hip to him and his band sooner. So great, got hooked on his motown sound but his folk work is fantastic. The first album with the Night Sweats belongs up there with Rumors, Back in the High Life and Tapestry as one of the great works, at a time when killer releases like that just don't come out anymore!
